Episode 11

Adrian focused the rest of the afternoon on that task. He couldn't afford for anything to go wrong again. It was his first day, and he didn't want to leave a bad impression of his work.

Fabio, however, was not satisfied with the way things had turned out after his move. He thought that what happened to Adrian had been too little. After all, he had only received a minor scolding.

He wanted Adrian to continue to suffer, but he didn't want to expose himself too much either. So, he needed to be clever about it. He asked a colleague, who was already aware of the rumors, to go to Adrian's office and ask for his help with a report. He didn't seem like the type who would refuse a request, so he could further delay him.

While Adrian worked on finalizing that document, he heard someone knock on the door and enter his office. He didn't know the woman who had just walked in, but he stopped what he was doing to pay attention to the matter.

"Hi, you're Adrian, right? The newcomer," she asks, pretending to be shy.

"Yes, how can I help?"

"That's exactly it, help. I need you to help me with this report. I could finish it myself, but I have to leave early today. It's my goddaughter's birthday, and I need to get there as quickly as possible. I can see that you seem kind and attentive, so I'll leave it here and I'll pick it up from you tomorrow morning." She left the papers on the table and started to leave.

Adrian remained still for some time, looking at the door, and was unresponsive. It was clear to him at that moment that she was taking advantage of the fact that he was new there to dump her work on him. He had been through this before in another company and knew how it worked.

She was clever not allowing him to respond to her request, but he couldn't pay attention to it at that moment. He had his own work to finish. Once he had everything ready, he could do that report. He sat down and continued. He couldn't let Benicio's document wait.

After leaving that office, the woman went straight to talk to Fabio. She wanted to tell him that she successfully unloaded that work on Adrian.

"I didn't even let him have time to refuse. I made up some excuse. At least I got rid of that work. I'll have a little free time for myself," they both smiled.

"Don't forget that Mr. Benicio's fiancee will be very pleased if we manage to get him fired. So, we're just doing the favor she asked for. Not to mention that he deserves it for trying to enter a company like this through such crooked means.

As excited as he was about what could happen, he would only be satisfied when he saw that it worked and Adrian would suffer. Otherwise, all that scheming would be useless.

The workday was almost over. Adrian had finally finished that document and went to Benicio's office to deliver it. However, before leaving his office, he did as Benicio advised him before, he locked the computer screen before leaving. He didn't know what had happened last time and didn't want to risk it happening again.

Adrian had already printed that document and handed it to his boss. He was relieved that, at least, everything had gone well.

"The documents you asked me to attach were also included and shared. I even sent them to your email, sir."

"Alright, I saw that here. I'll forward it now for them to analyze. It's almost time for you to leave. If you need to leave early, you can go," he said after looking at the clock.

"I still have one more thing to do, sir, but thank you. If you need anything, you can call me."

Adrian left the president's office. As he headed towards his office to work on the report that woman had entrusted him with, a hurried woman ended up colliding with Adrian and almost fell. However, he was faster and caught her to prevent her from falling.

Benicio was leaving his office when he saw Adrian and that young woman practically embracing in the hallway. His assistant had mentioned that there was something to be done, so he was curious to know what it was about, as he hadn't requested anything and things were running smoothly. But as he walked out, he came face to face with that scene.

"Are you okay?" he asked the young woman, who was looking at him as if hypnotized.

"Yes... um... thank you," she replied, adjusting her glasses.

Adrian knelt down to help the girl pick up the papers that had fallen. Benicio still stood at the door, observing everything. His secretary noticed that the expression on her boss's face at that moment was not a good one. Although she was hesitant to ask the question, she did.

"Do you need anything, Mr. Benicio?"

"No, do you know who the girl Adrian is talking to?" he asked, not taking his eyes off the two of them.

"She seems to be one of the girls from accounting, sir. Is there a problem?"

"No, it's nothing." He continued to squint at the two of them.

Benicio could tell that the way the girl fidgeted with her glasses and lowered her head, she was embarrassed. At the very least, she was charmed by him, which wasn't difficult when it came to Adrian. But he had no reason to be so bothered by it. He turned around and went back into his office. However, seeing the smiles they exchanged bothered him. Realizing that he was so bothered by things that happened, like the situation with Adrian, was even more bothersome to him.
