Episode 7

Benicio returned home and continued to ignore Carla's calls. He wasn't in the mood to hear her complaints, let alone her voice. He headed to the bathroom, taking his time in an attempt to relax. Even though he had already consumed a few drinks with his friend, Benicio knew he would need more to be able to sleep. He grabbed a bottle of whisky and a glass with ice, sat on his balcony, and started another round of drinking as his thoughts tormented him.

Adrian also took a while to fall asleep. He remembered the moment he collided with Benicio in the bathroom and the delicious fragrance he felt when he got so close to him, while brushing his teeth and looking at himself in the mirror. He began to struggle with himself.

"Forget about this scent. It's unattainable for you. Don't fool yourself. It will only make you suffer. He is heterosexual, engaged, and also your boss. Your priority is to keep your job, not to find a boyfriend. So, forget about this nonsense."

He finished brushing his teeth and went to bed, but his thoughts still mixed between the past and the present, trying to convince himself that he would end up getting hurt again.

The next day, Adrian woke up in a better mood. He kissed his grandmother goodbye before leaving and arrived early at the company. He needed to be there before his boss, and the secretary informed him of the type of coffee Benicio liked. Adrian was supposed to pick it up from a cafe on the corner.

Since it was his first day, the secretary had already placed the order, so Adrian simply grabbed the coffee and left it on his desk to deliver as soon as Benicio arrived. Some of the tasks he had to perform were explained by the secretary, while the rest would be determined directly by Benicio.

As soon as Benicio arrived, everyone noticed that he seemed in a bad mood. Adrian quickly grabbed the coffee and headed to the president's office. Before entering, he received a good luck wish from the secretary. If his boss was really nervous, Adrian knew he would need that luck.

Adrian entered the room and greeted Benicio, hoping for a good start to the morning.

"Good morning, sir. Here is your coffee."

"Good morning, Adrian. You already know what coffee I like?"

"I was informed as soon as I arrived." He still seemed a little apprehensive.

"That's good. That way, we can expedite the rest of the things I need to pass on to you. You seem fine, not at all hungover." He mentioned the previous night.

"I don't usually drink much, sir. Besides, I had to come to work today, so I didn't overdo it."

"I don't meddle in employees' personal lives, as long as it doesn't affect their performance the next day. It's not my business if you go out with your brother, friend, or... the man who was with you." He found a way to find out more about the person who was with Adrian.

"Of course, sir. I would never let something like that interfere with my work. Like I said, my work is essential to me. As for Eli, he's just a friend."

Benicio felt a sense of relief with that response, but at the same time, it further shook his mood. He didn't want to think of Adrian that way and he couldn't. He was engaged and about to get married, planning to have a normal life.

"I believe you are truly responsible, and that's why I chose you for this position. But let's get down to business. I will give you the rest of the instructions on what you will have to do."

Benicio began to explain what he expected from Adrian as his assistant. He would need his schedule to be available when needed since Adrian would have to accompany him to business lunches or dinners.

Adrian listened attentively, agreed to the terms, and wrote down the information in his personal agenda. They discussed work for some time until they were interrupted when the door opened. Benicio looked towards the door, expressing displeasure at who it was.

"Sir, I apologize, but she didn't wait to be announced," the secretary apologized.

"That's alright, you can go," Benicio dismissed the secretary.

"I am your fiancee. Do I need permission to enter your office now?" She spoke, crossing her arms arrogantly.

"Yes, you do. This is not your house, nor mine. This is my workplace. I ask that you have more respect. I could be in an important meeting or with a client. You cannot and do not have the right to enter here without permission just because you are my fiancee." He replied with irritation.

Adrian had just met Benicio's fiancee in the worst possible way, and the situation was becoming embarrassing. He didn't know if he should leave or stay in the room, but as he looked at Benicio's fiancee, he was certain of one thing: she was very beautiful and seemed to be quite wealthy. There was no reason for Benicio to look at him.

"Adrian, could you please excuse us?" Benicio asked, keeping his gaze on his fiancee.

Adrian simply nodded and left the room. He didn't want to get caught in the crossfire, as he could end up being dragged into the situation.
