"Jeanette, my plan is failing," Avery slouches on a table in the library as she explains what happened a few days ago to her best friend.
"What is so wrong with wanting to be your guard though?" Jeanette questions.
"In the book, he was my personal bodyguard for the academy. He helped the Crown Prince with my downfall. Now to think about it, he is one of Holly's followers," Avery states sadly.
"Oh my goodness! Now that I think about it, didn't he tell the Crown Prince about us bullying Holly and then the Crown Prince kills us? But still, to be killed just because of bullying..." Jeanette sighs as she takes a sip of her warm lemon tea.
"But if I decline him, what if he starts hating me and then tries to kill me?" Avery scoffs.
"Oh my goodness! I got a plan! How about instead of him falling in love with Holly, you can make him fall in love with you or something!" Jeanette says cheerfully.
"And how will I do that?" Avery glares at Jeanette, who is deeply thinking.
All of the sudden, Jeanette smirks, "Don't worry. I got the best idea!"
Jeanette takes the book from Avery and flips through some of the pages until she lands on the one page she was looking for. There, she skims the page until her eyes stopped at a paragraph in the book.
"Thats it. Holly earned his heart when she was saving a bird from a tree," Jeanette continues on, "you could do the same."
"Eh?" Avery scoffs again at Jeanette, "I am just going to be myself and not bully Holly."
[Hours later, when Avery returns to the manor...]
"I haven't down this in awhile," Avery whispers under her breath as she bites her book and starts climbing up a tree. When she reach to the top, she started to sit down and read. The day started to past, and soon the sunset was in front of Avery.
Not only was the sunset out, but the knights-in-training were soon finished with practice. They were walking back to get there belonging from to go home. Avery's and Liam's father was the trainer for them all so they usually practiced at the manor.
"Whoa dude, today's practice was too difficult," a random person said to Liam.
"Yeah! Tell your father to go easier on us!" People joined in on the conversation.
"Dude, I just wanted to do this so I can see Avery." one person states loudly, which made Avery jump for a second. Avery was sitting on a tree that was tall enough so other people can't see her.
"Yeah, dude. She is the most beautiful girl in this town."
"Too bad she only reads and doesn't want to talk to us."
"She doesn't have any friends because she must be an actual witch."
"I heard that she can curse people if they try to be close to her."
Random people started to chime in what they thought about Avery. There was hate and love combined, but Avery ignored every single one of the comments afterwards and continued to read the red velvet book.
"Stop talking about my sister like that," Liam suddenly yells at the boys talking about Avery.
"Huh? Is he trying to defend me?" Avery thought as she pauses reading to listen in on what is going on.
"You guys don't even look alike."
"Are you guys even really biological siblings?"
"Hey hey, cut it out." Damien suddenly barges in between Liam and another knight-in-training. As if Damien had magic, the boys abruptly stopped fighting and decided to talk about something else. Soon, they all left. Avery hopped off the tree with her velvet book and decided to walk back to her room.
When she walked into her room, Avery noticed Liam on her sofa sleeping. She smiled for a second and then put her book away in a safe place. Avery then put a blanket on Liam and then headed out once more for her swordfighting lessons with her father.
As soon as Avery returned back into her room, she saw her brother reading the red velvet book. Avery couldn't tell what kind of face he was making when he was reading the book, but she knew he had to stop before it's too late.
"HEY WHAT ARE YOU-" Avery screams as she snatches the book from Liam before he could read farther. Liam then glares at Avery and decided to speak up, himself.
"Tell me, who made this ridiculous book," Liam says, "they are either stalking our family or writing false things about us. Either way, we need to talk about this with father."
"I-I don't know who the author of this book is. But Jeanette found this book a couple of months back," Avery sighs, "and so far, all the information in this book has been correct."
Liam stares at Avery for a brief moment before talking once more, "If this book is true, then we must do something about your future. Besides, it states that I will fall in love with this girl name Holly but I already know I won't because I have already taken interest on someone else."
"What?! Why haven't you told me about this before? Who is it?" Avery asks in excitement.
"Its a secret," Liam smirks.
