Daria.

"Wake up, it's late."

I heard a female voice speak to me, but I didn't open my eyes because I was very sleepy.

"The moment has arrived."

It was heard again, and I opened my eyes suddenly, remembering that only my father and I lived at home. The sunlight coming through the window bothered me, but I made an effort to look for where the voice was coming from. There was absolutely no one in my room, but I didn't feel scared; on the contrary, that voice gave me peace and tranquility.

"It's late!" my father shouted from the first floor.

Automatically, I looked at the clock on my nightstand and, indeed, it was late.

"Shit," I said.

I got out of bed and ran to the bathroom, forgetting what had just happened.

I took a shower in record time, looked for something comfortable to wear, and opted for sweatpants, a T-shirt, and sneakers. I tied my hair up in a high bun. Once ready, I ran downstairs.

"That was fast," my father said, handing me a glass of orange juice.

"Being fast is my thing," I said before taking the glass to my mouth. "Dad," I said with the intention of asking him about that voice I heard, but I stopped.

"Tell me?" he asked.

"It's nothing," I said. "It's late."

I ran out after giving my father a kiss. My name is Daria, I am seventeen years old, and I am a werewolf. Yes! As you heard, I know we have all grown up listening to stories of superheroes like Batman, Superman, and others, but this is much more real than that.

Our appearance is like that of any human being, so it is difficult for a human to identify us, but unlike them, we have great strength, speed, a highly developed sense of smell, good vision, and a keen ear, and we transform into great beasts.

These are some of all the characteristics we have. It is worth clarifying that some are stronger than others, such as the Alphas, those are the strongest, and among all the Alphas there is one who leads us. Something like our president, followed by the Beta and the Gamma.

They are like the right hand of our Alpha and are in charge of ensuring the safety of the pack.

Our pack is called Scarlet Moon and is on the list of the three best packs on the entire continent, providing us with all the necessary resources to lead a life full of comfort.

Near the forest is the house where I live with my father. It is a cabin that, according to my father, the Alpha gave us when we arrived at this pack, because this is not our original pack.

To tell the truth, I don't know much of the story, but according to my father, we were found on the bank of the river. My father was badly injured, while clinging to me, who at that time was just a baby less than a year old.

My father has no memory of what happened to us before being found, so the Alpha welcomed us as members of his pack, and it was he who gave us our names. Today I can say that I have led a happy life, but despite that, I want to know what happened.

And I know my father wants the same, because who doesn't want to be with their mate?

Mate, is the partner predestined by the Moon Goddess for each of us, according to what they say is love at first sight, how do we recognize our predestined partner or rather mate?

Well, I don't know much about the matter, since it is not my priority to find my partner, but they say that their aroma is unique and attracts us.

For the moment, the only thing that matters to me is being able to take the university entrance exam. Finding my mate is something I will leave for later, plus I am only seventeen years old, so I have a year for my first transformation, so when the time comes I will think about that.

I walk quickly to school, today was a bad day to be late. It was my only opportunity to take the entrance exam, so I couldn't afford to be late.

A strong movement in the ground made me stop, I looked around trying to find an explanation for what was happening, but all I saw were houses and buildings around me falling to the ground, screams, cries, people running like crazy.

The movements intensified, so I ran back home. My father was a warrior belonging to the Alpha's guard, so I knew he would be fine, but as a daughter I couldn't stop worrying.

"Dad!" I shout, seeing that there was absolutely nothing left of our house, I felt scared, because he was the only thing I had left.

"Daria!" he shouted behind me.

I turned quickly, he was in perfect condition, in his arms he had a little one, who was bleeding from the head. Running to help him, I took the little one in my arms, while my father lifted the rubble to get another little one who was underneath.

Quickly, we took them to the health center, but to our bad luck this had also disappeared. With nothing else to do, we went to the Alpha's house. All the warriors of the pack took the wounded, there were many and most of them were children and teenagers who, not having their first transformation, did not have the strength to defend themselves.

The pack was destroyed, leaving us all without a place to live.

"Inhabitants of Scarlet Moon, today nature has wreaked havoc on our pack. I know that many feel disoriented, but you are not alone. I, your Alpha, guarantee that you will be fine," said Alpha Oscar.

"We will look for a solution, so for the moment be patient and collaborate," added our Luna Marina.

We were all filled with sadness, centuries of effort had been destroyed in seconds, no one was to blame, so we had no choice but to move on.
