The "No Trespassing" sign was replaced with a construction notice. His heart sank, fearing demolition, but as the work began, he realized they weren’t tearing her down—they were bringing her back to life.
The yard was cleared, revealing the house fully for the first time.
Workers stripped the rotting roof and siding but rebuilt it with meticulous care, matching every detail of her original design.
Aurelian watched in awe, his heart swelling with joy.
His beloved mansion was finally being saved.

The mansion gleamed, her white paint fresh, black shutters crisp, and stained-glass doors shining in the sun.
Aurelian longed to peek inside, but armed guards made the site impenetrable.
As the exterior was restored, his imagination filled in the interior—scrubbed clawfoot tubs, new plaster, sparkling chandeliers.
The gardens transformed next, Victorian-style with roses, jasmine, and burbling fountains.
Aurelian marveled at her rebirth.
Then one day, the workers were gone, and a sign appeared:
"Help Wanted."
Heart racing, Aurelian dressed in his best patched clothes and approached the house.
The iron gates were ajar, and for the first time, he walked the long driveway to the grand arched doors.
The lion-shaped knocker barely dropped before the door opened to reveal a stern, bespectacled butler.
