The Claim Power Of The Elements

The Claim Power Of The Elements

Cayla

“There were 10 different elements; they saw the world dark and damp. They decided to combine powers and make a whole new world \- rising the sun, lowering the moon. Making the stars, forming the clouds into different shapes. They thought they should rest after they created the world, so they made gods. The gods lived for generations, some were evil, some were good, but they all kept in mind that the elements would take over one day, so they forced them not to by keeping their thrones of power. Not letting the elements take over… I snuggled near my dad and asked, “Is the story true?”

My dad laughed, “If it was true, why did the world not overrun with monsters? Now, little one. Time to go to bed, or else you won’t be able to fall asleep from the story.” I smiled and flopped onto my bed as my father kissed me on the forehead and walked out of the room.

Then I sat up straight, and thought, are monsters really real?

I heard my father arguing with my stepmother downstairs. I sat down and listened from my room, “-not going to send Cayla to boarding school!” My dad was scolding my stepmother, Charlotte. “So? If we send that ridiculous idiot away, we can have some time together!” she hollered.

“I don’t understand why I have EVER liked you.” My dad said, “What I wish is that she-” He flattered as he said it, my dad never ever mentioned my mother, my real one. I gasped so very loudly that they both looked up and saw me eavesdropping. I got myself up and flopped onto my bed as if nothing happened.

Perfect timing, at that time, Charlotte had come up and checked on me, just to see me, eyes closed and asleep. She grumbled and muttered, “Stupid little girl.” and walked out, slamming the door behind her, hearing a loud click. Oh gosh, she locked the door. I walked to my balcony and stared up into the shimmering night sky.

Suddenly, a beautiful eagle flew down and perched itself on the railing. I smiled and held out my hand. The little critter didn’t fly away, instead he turned around as I smoothed his feathers and he dropped a letter at my feet. I jumped not knowing what it was.

With trembling fingers, I picked up the letter. The letter was addressed to Cayla Gailo - me. I opened the letter that was from a person I didn’t know…

To my dearest eagle,

you may have heard of me from the stories your dad read to you. I have heard your prayers to see me, and I can’t come down to see you. So I wrote this letter. I am Gina, well not to surprise you, I am your mother.

I want you to go to this camp after school, it is enchanted, you would discover the way from my eagle. To camp you must go, now goodbye.

Your mother

I stared at my letter and eventually found my eyelids closing from fatigue. I forced myself to stuff the letter into my school bag then flopped right onto my bed to dreamland.
