Something was wrong

A few days later it was announced at the college that the

games were going to be held in the college and the children

would have to give a trial first and the student who was good

in the game would be placed in the team. Students were

selected in teams based on their choice, performance and

experience. Harriet and Elli did not give trials for any of the

games so they were tasked with cheerleading. Asriel and

Winston were selected for the basketball team, while Azazel

was selected for the hockey team. When students in the

basketball team were practising, Harriet and Elli were going

back to class after practising. Their focus was on basketball

students practising. Harriet saw Asriel, he was wearing a

white colour t-shirt and red shorts.

Then Harriet's gaze shifted to Asriel' left hand; she was

surprised to see a mark on his hand. She quickly grabbed

Elli's hand and dragged her into the classroom. She was

panting, there were drops of sweat on her forehead. “What happened to you?” Elli said while releasing her hand from her

grip“You saw that mark on his hand?” Harriet said while calming

herself.

“What mark? What are you talking about? I don’t have any

idea”

“Asriel had a mark on his hand same as me,”

she said a few pauses, “wait a minute, I have seen this mark

before. Now I remember, I told you that I have seen him

before, he was the same boy whom I saw standing in the alley

that night, but what was he doing there?”

“My dear Harriet don't come to any conclusion so soon, why

don't you ask him”

“And you think he'll tell me”

“I have a way to find out the truth from him,” Harriet said

excitedly while clapping.

“What are you going to do? Just tell me” Elli asked in

confusion.

“Just wait and watch,” Harriet said with a smirk.

“Whatsup ladies” Winston came into class and interrupt.

“Ah nothing”

“If there's anything you can tell me” “Ok then, actually Elli

wants to sit with you,” Harriet said and Elli was shocked with

her words she was about to say something but Harriet denied

her.“Ok I don’t have any problem,” Winston said with a wide

smile on his face.

After practice, when everyone had to attend their class,

Winston sat down with Elli. Asriel found it strange but he did

not pay attention and when Harriet was going to sit on the

back seat, Azazel stopped her and indicated to sit on the

empty seat nearby but Harriet shook her head and She went to

Asriel and sat down. Azazel got it bad.

Asriel was feeling happy as Harriet was sitting near him for

the first time but he did not allow anything to be revealed

from his face and uttered, “Why are you sitting here, you

have not found a place or are fond of clinging to me?”

“Could not find space and would like to cling to you more,”

Harriet giggled.

Asriel was shocked by her words and actions. Azazel was

looking at them.

Elli and Winston were happy by looking at them. Harriet

started doing the same every day, she used to sit near him in

class every day, used to sit with him in the cafeteria, followed

him in the library too.

Asriel also loved to do this but there was some reason why he

was holding himself back.One day when Harriet was going after Asriel after class was

over, Asriel grabbed her hand and dragged her to an empty

spot.

“What is your problem? Why don't you understand that I

don't want you, why do you follow me everywhere? mind

your own business and if you don't know or anyone haven't

told you, let me tell you,

You are an ugly girl who keeps chasing boys and I thought

that Azazel was your boyfriend. Because you keep going after

him too.” he stopped for a moment but he said again “one

more thing, you are not a girl of my type and standard, it

would be better if you stop following me.”

After saying so much to Harriet, Asriel went away from there.

No one had said so bad to Harriet yet, her body was numb for

a while, she could not move from there, nor could she speak

anything, just the words echoing in her ears what Asriel said

to her and tears in her eyes.

Elli and Winston were looking for Harriet and Asriel when

they came to the corridor to see.

Harriet was sitting on one of the seats in the courtyard, her

head was on her knees, both of them ran to her and saw tears

rolling from her closed eyes.Elli asked, shaking Harriet's shoulder with a hand, “What

happened?”

When Harriet opened her eyes, Winston and Elli were in front

of her. She quickly wiped her tears and said with a forced

smile, “Nothing.”

Winston looked at Elli and said I have some work to do, I

have to go. Saying that he left from there and started looking

for Asriel.

He tried to call him several times but the phone did not work.

Then he started the car and went to find him. First, he went

home. He stopped the car in front of the gate.

Winston and Asriel lived in the same house. Their house was

an elegant ancestral palace. He looked at the whole house but

Asriel was nowhere to be found, then he took the car and

drove on the path of the forest. Elli sat down with Harriet and

then asked again,

“Harriet, tell me what happened and why were you crying?”

Harriet wants to stop her tears but Elli's words make her

tearful.

She hugged her and cried.“Am I ugly and clingy?” she asked while hugging Elli.

“What?” Elli asked in confusion.

“He...he said that I’m ugly and clingy,” she said slowly

“Please stop crying and let’s go home,” Elli went home with

Harriet. Harriet's mother was not at home, she went out of

town for some work. For that reason, Elli stayed at Harriet's

house.

After some time, both of them were sitting, then Elli said

slowly to Harriet, “now tell me what happened.”

After being silent for a while, Harriet told the whole story to

Elli about what Asriel said to her.

“But why were you crying, I think you were planning to

know about his mark?”

“Yes, I know that I was after him because I had to find out

about his mark but I felt so bad when he talked to me so

rudely.”

“But you should not feel bad or do you feel bad because you

have some….?” “Of course not, I don’t have feelings for him,

I don’t like him and I don’t care about him.”

Both remained silent for a while,“So what are you going to do

next? Will you still follow him or some other way? I do not

understand why you need to do all that?” Elli asked her.“Even I do not know,” Harriet sighed. She was unaware of

her feelings and why she became sad whenever he said

something bad to her or ignored her.

Winston was looking for Asriel as he was passing through the

woods, he saw someone on a cliff near the river, he

recognized that he was none other than Asriel. He parked his

car and went to Asriel.
