Chapter 3: Alana Vs. Arana

Arana

The whole class was looking at me. I was not embarassed this time, but more of a awkwardness crept through my face.

It's not at all common to talk in english, in class atleast. I have been living in USA for 5 years before I came here. My father is a businessman. I won't say we are loaded but we have enough to call myself a rich girl. But you don't necessarily talk about it...at least I don't think so.

I had never been a social butterfly, but I'm not introverted either. I like some peace and quite. Occational hustle and bustle in my life, I can handle them quite well. But too much attention is not what I look for.

And that is what I have been getting since earlier. The students were all looking at me like I just spoke some alien language when they've been learning this since childhood. Well I can understand the lack of knowledge about accent and all, but still...It's only english.

Ren sensei was looking at me, knowing the obvious and smirking.

Why is he like this?

He sure as hell is nice to others. But when I am involved he is always making me embarassed and awkward before everyone.

"Arana-chan, your english. It's foreign..." Mayu was looking at me wide eyed once again.

Great...now I've been demoted to Arana-chan from Aracchi.

"No..actually I used to live abroad. That's why...don't worry. I speak japanese just fine...so don't feel awkward. 'kay?"

"Oh..sure. But wow. I didn't know you lived abroad. I was startled. Actually..."

Mayu started talking about how she got goosebumps and all. But the only thing I could hear was the "Good luck on making friends" shout from "Ren-chan" while going outside the door not looking back.

On lunch break Some girls came to talk with me. Mayu is a person with brains as well as with good social skills. She had friends who were interested in me after hearing my accent apparently. So they came and introduced themselves.

Among them Ayame-chan and Yui-chan were interested in learing english and we got excited over everything and nothing in particular. We exchanged our lines and phone numbers. I made more friends than what I had expected to.

The rest of the day was uneventful and I came home earlier since I had to pick up my sister from school. I did the rest of the housework, made dinner, went through revisions, texted some and went to bed early today.

I was thinking about how rollar coaster my whole day have been today. Mayu, Ayame, Yui and everyone have been so nice to me. Will I be able to make them happy like they did me.

Suddenly something came to my mind.

"Alana Hosokawa. Is your first day interesting?"

Alana Hosokawa...

The name only my family and friends from USA are supposed to know.

So how did he know that...
