Chapter 2

A week before the wedding,

"I don't want to get married!", Riley said feeling both angry and disappointed.

" The Li family is rich and powerful. Everyone wants to be their daughter-in-law. Why don't you want to marry young master Li? "her grandpa questioned.

"Because I don't love him. And you know I have someone I love", she said.

"He is dead, Riley.He died three years ago.Do you want to stay single for the rest of your life because of him?",Jack Zheng, her grandpa said hitting on the table.

" It's none of your business ", she said with tears in her eyes. Everyone knows that her biggest scar was the accident 3 years ago.

" I will tell you for the last time, I am not getting married to anyone!"she continued.

"What if I promise to give you the things Edward left for you if you get married" ,Her grandpa said when she turned around to leave.

Edward Zheng is her little uncle. She grew up with him and he was the only one who treated her well and loved her unconditionally. Unfortunately, he also passed away in the accident three years ago.

She was stunned and asked with a shaking voice, "You mean the necklace? ".She remembers that her little uncle told her once that the necklace is very important and that she has to keep it safe. But the people from the Zheng family played tricks and didn't give her the necklace when she asked.

" Yes", her grandpa answered, "you know that it was written in his will that if you get married one day, the necklace will be yours" he continued."So are you willing to get married now?".

Riley thought for a moment. Although she didn't want to get married, the necklace is very important for her. She has been trying to get that necklace for 3 years. So she decided to get married.

"ok fine I will get married to young master Li but you better not go back on your words", she said angrily and left.

Before she walked away, she heard her grandpa shout, " remember, all I do is for your own good".

Riley sneered and walked away. For her own good? What a joke! If it was for her good why did he force her to get married to someone who is rumoured to be heartless. Well, she didn't actually care whether Young Master Li is heartless or not. She just didn't want to marry someone else.

She went to George's place to update him with the current situation.

"Riley, how was the talk with your grandpa?", he asked.

" I am getting married next week", she said feeling lazy to explain any further.

"what?!", he asked, hoping he heard her wrong, " Didn't you go to the Zheng family to cancel the wedding? Did you fail? Do you want me to call William for help?", he said and picked up his phone to give William a call.

"don't", Riley stopped him hurriedly and said, " listen to me first, Grandpa promised to give me the necklace if I get married ", she said.

" THAT NECKLACE?? ", he asked and Riley answered with a yes. " but still you don't have to get married for that. There must be another way, let me call William ", He insisted.

" No don't tell brother. I have a plan", she said and took George's phone so he couldn't call William, " What is it",he asked.

"You remember our investigation shows that Jadon Li has a beloved girl in his heart so I am sure he is also forced to get married. We will just sign the divorce paper on the wedding night. You just need to make sure no news of our wedding should be seen on the news and everything will be alright",she stated.

"ok I can do that but still we have to tell William about it or he would kill me if he finds out we lied to him",George said.

"don't worry, he won't be back until next month and after he comes back everything will be back to normal. He won't ever find out.And also it doesn't count as lying if he never asked",she said and went into the kitchen to fetch something to eat as she was hungry.

She ate some strawberries with chocolate and discussed the plan further with George and after a while she left.
