First Interaction

Chu Feng continued to walk towards the town without any problems as there were no monsters on the way from barrier to the town. This land was completely flat without many trees to block the sight so he could easily see the town wall which was still 1-2 Km away from the barrier. He walked quickly as he was extremely excited to see what was the town in this world looked like, he was also extremely excited to see those other races like beastkin and elves.

He was looking around at beautiful flowers and different types of weird grasses that were in the area of his way to the town when his system assistant finally broke the silence which was continued from the moment they had left the barrier,

“Pick these flowers and those weird looking grasses. They have high mana compared to others so these things might be the herbs used to make medicines.”

“We’ll pick it later, now I want to go to town first.” Chu Feng said without thinking much as he continued walking on his way. He was so excited to see this world’s humans and other races’ people that he could care less about these few herbs right now.

“Do you have money right now? What are you going to do if you have to pay fees to enter the town? Just do what I say. Don’t make me repeat myself.” System assistant replied angrily. What she had said made sense. Chu Feng was surprised that he didn’t even think about this issue even though he was always careful; He was too excited to think about this.

“Umm… ok. I'll listen to you for now.” He replied as he started picking weird looking grasses and beautiful colorful flowers that he saw on the way. He didn’t care how much he had picked as he had larger inventory compared to others, all thanks to the system.

He walked while picking up these things whenever he saw it nearby his path to the town. After continuing like this for an hour, he had finally reached the town gate with herbs that could fill nearly 4 backpacks in his inventory. He saw few people entering the town gate while guards at the gate checked something before letting them in.

“What are they asking for? Is money really required to enter the city? Hey, girl! Didn’t you tell me to do whatever you say? So What should I do about this thing now?” Chu Feng asked, he still didn’t have money yet and he didn’t know if guards would accept these herbs. He didn’t even know if these grasses were actually herbs. Now all he could do was rely on this rude system assistant.

“Those people are merchants so they have to show information about what they had brought to the town to sell. Normal people don’t need to show anything and I think, because of the arrival of otherworldly people which in fact is us who arrived from Earth, they stopped taking fees for the next ten days. You can enter after showing your job as a villager to them.” Chu Feng immediately received reply from her as if she was already looking into it even before he had asked.

“How do you know about this?” He asked curiously. They had just arrived in this world so there was no way she could've known these things. From what he had experienced with Yu Yan in the past, he already knew that system assistant didn't have any memories about themselves.

“I can hear them as long as you are within their 100 meters range.”

“That’s pretty cool. By the way, these people already know we are coming to this world?” Chu Feng asked, he had clearly heard her say ‘arrival of otherworldly people’.

“They seem to have gotten quest to take care of us for first few days after we reach the town. There is also something interesting going on inside the town which attracted even more crowd.”

“Oh! So that’s how it is.” Chu Feng arrived in front of the line to enter the town gate which was surprisingly so big that it didn’t even look like a town. If not for Zhao Jun saying that they will be transferred to small villages and towns he would’ve believed that this was a big city. Guard looked at Chu Feng and mumbled something in low voice, immediately Chu Feng’s status window popped in front of him but it didn’t contain any stats in it while Yu Yan’s part was probably already covered up by the system.

“Human, Villager!” Guard turned around towards his partner who was probably writing something about the people entering the town and shouted before turning back to Chu Feng “You can enter.”

Chu Feng wanted to ask this guard about where he could go to sell these herbs but he looked kind of scary and pissed so he rejected this idea and entered the town. As soon as he entered, he saw bustling scene in front of him. This was not a simple small town to him anymore. It was definitely a city and quite big at that.

There was clean and wide path heading towards the inner part of the city. There were many types of stalls on both sides of the road. They were selling various types of food, medicines, something that looked like potions from the games he played while there were also some people that were selling cheap weapons too. This sight was extremely shocking to Chu Feng as he had thought that there will only be few people walking around the town with few stalls and other village like stuff. But he had never imagined that there would be so many people with so many stalls. These stalls and few houses that were in the surrounding were clearly looking like what you’d see in the normal old fashioned village but amount of people here were definitely not something that you could see in small village.

“Is this really a small village? Then how would cities in this world look like? Hey! What should I do next? Where can I sell these herbs?” Chu Feng asked in a voice that was still somewhat lost which showed how astonished he was by this city.

“Do whatever you want. Go ask around somewhere for more information. Now don’t disturb me. I am going to sleep so don’t die while I am asleep. Bye.” She replied without any interest as if to show Chu Feng that it was he who had come to this village, not she who had brought him here.

“Hey! Can’t you listen to these people and tell me whatever information you get? … Hello? Don’t act like you are sleeping. Come on.” No matter how Chu Feng called her she continued to ignore him which finally led him to give up.

Chu Feng just kept hanging around for a while before he spotted a small restaurant where not many people were going in. It was old looking restaurant where he could see an old woman sitting peacefully without caring about any commotion on the outside through the window. He went near the restaurant from where he could clearly see old and rundown condition of the front side of the restaurant which led people to ignore it as mostly people only like to eat at a place where you would feel extremely fresh and pleasant.

As soon as Chu Feng entered the door, Old woman spoke “This place is closed, young man.”

“Oh! I didn’t know about that. Sorry to disturb you.” Chu Feng said as he stood there without any sign of leaving the restaurant.

“You must be new to this town. Do you need anything else, young man?” Old woman asked as she wanted to continue her rest which was disturbed by Chu Feng’s arrival.

“Yes, I am new to this town so I wanted to ask about few things. Old grandma, can I ask you few questions if it's not much trouble to you?” When old woman heard Chu Feng call her old grandma, she immediately took a clear look at Chu Feng before giving him a smile and inviting him to sit on the chair near her table.

“You can ask whatever you want. But come here and sit down first. You are just like my granddaughter, Carly. She used to call me old grandma when she was just a little brat. Now she doesn’t even have time to spend at home with all these city guard duty on her. Now that you've called me grandma, You can ask anything you want. I will answer with what I know.” Old woman spoke in excited manner which showed how much love she had for her granddaughter and also how much she wanted to find someone to talk to as her granddaughter didn't have time to stay with her all the time. Chu Feng went ahead and sat down comfortably on the chair but before he could ask anything his stomach started growling loudly.

Both of them laughed wholeheartedly on this sudden monstrous sound,

“Sorry, I didn’t have dinner yesterday night and I didn’t have time to for the breakfast, yet. It’s really embarrassing.” Chu Feng apologized for this embarrassment. He had done so much vigorous activity with Zhou Jun yesterday and after taking bath, both of them had just sat down together gazing at the stars through the rest of the night. After thinking about it, his face became a bit red from those sweet memories before turning sad once again. He had been transported here early in the morning so he still didn’t have breakfast yet, which made him very hungry.

“You don’t have to apologize for such thing. I would’ve made you something but my granddaughter won’t come back with vegetables and meat till lunchtime. If you can stay for couple of hours then you can have lunch with us. By the way, you didn’t introduce yourself yet. It's rare to see a polite young man like you.” Old woman immediately had worry on her face when she heard he was hungry since yesterday night. Chu Feng felt very warm inside his heart when he saw how caring this old woman was.

“Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Chu Feng. And don’t worry about the breakfast; I can get something to eat after selling the herbs that I brought with me. Can you tell me where can I sell herbs?” Chu Feng asked as he definitely could not wait till the lunch time and he also wanted to explore this city.

“You can sell it at medicine store, 4 blocks from here. But I think you should sell it to the adventurer’s guild, they are quite low on the herbs right now so they’ll definitely pay you more. But are you sure you don’t want to wait? If you can buy something right now, then I can definitely make something delicious for you.” She said worriedly. She didn’t want Chu Feng to leave without letting him eat something as if he was her own son/ grandson. But suddenly Chu Feng thought of the things he had inside of his inventory. Zhou Jun had done something with his inventory so that stuff inside it won’t go bad at all. And he had many things that he had brought here from the Earth.

“It’s ok; I want to explore the city so I don’t think I can sit still any longer. If you can, then can I request you to get some hot water for me? I can make something that I brought from my hometown but I need hot water for it.” Chu Feng asked, he wanted to eat instant cup noodles that he had in his inventory. He had saved lots of food supplies when he was dealing with zombies on the Earth so he had many things to eat right now.

“You can use kitchen in the back side. There are spices and salt in the shelves if you need it. Use it however you feel like.” Even though they had just met, old woman had favorable impression of Chu Feng so she immediately agreed to his request.

Chu Feng went inside the kitchen but when looked for things to boil the water, he was immediately confused as there was a stove that looked pretty much the same as gas stove on the earth but it was connected with some sort of fist sized red stone in middle of the rectangular front of the stove. He couldn’t figure out how to use it so he didnt touch it as he didn't want to mess this place up. So once again, he went to the old woman to ask for the help, which made her feel quite surprised as even the kids were able to use this type of stove with ease as it only needed to turn the fire stone. But Chu Feng who had come from the Earth had absolutely no clue about this.

After having instant cup noodles, he bade farewell to old grandma and started walking towards the adventurer's guild to sell the herbs. He was quite excited to see it as there was always an adventurer's guild in novels that he read about magic or cultivation, which were no longer just imaginary thoughts for him or other people from the Earth. He walked at slow pace while observing the crowd around him. Most of the time people were holding different materials required to build houses or other structurs. From what he got to know from the grandma at the restaurant while he ate those cup noodles, there was a magic academy that started last year here in this town so this town had gone through tremendous changes that tranformed it from small town to the big city.

Chu Feng wanted to join this magic academy with Yan Lan, Yan Yanran and others but he didn't know if they could manage to pass the entrance exam as they had just arrived in this world and academy fees was also the part that he could not handle at the moment. He wanted to try and see if he could actually become some kind of protagonist who would live peaceful life with the girls he love without any trouble.

But unfortunately, what he had in his destiny was something he had brought onto himself which would never let him have peaceful life if he tries to live one. Unknown to this fact, he continued his daydreaming till he arrived in front of the adventurers guild.
