Ifeoma is an old enemy

"Mum said it was something urgent, is this the urgent"

I asked my dad

"Calm down darling, if we had told you it's about her, you won't come"

"what does it need from me?"

"She is a human. A little make up for her engagement party tonight"

"It won't be able to afford it"

"She won't be paying"

"Not my problem then"

My dad stood up and starting walking to me and the witch. Good thing she isn't talking, I don't want to hear her frog voice

"You will do it because she is a friend and I said so"

"You don't tell me what to do"

"it's been 10 years now"

"and I don't care, why are you still talking with her. Doesn't my happiness matter to you"

Am not gonna break down, she will never see me broken again

"It's in the past and you have to let go of that grudge"

"Grudge? You call that a grudge. She is supposed to be in the past, why then is she here"

"Go sit ifeoma, she will do your make up"

I laughed sarcastically

"I don't have a kit"

"I came with mine"

Said ifeoma and I quickly covered my ears

"Can you not speak"

"Your brunch is in your room, you have 30 minutes to start her make up"

I turn around to walk to my room but mum stopped me at the door and hold my face in her palms"

"Folakemi, it's time you let go. It's been years now"

"How can you tell me to let go"

"I know it's hard but you have to learn to forgive"

She can't be serious, she really can't.

"I don't think you understand what you are saying"

"She couldn't get a make up artist at the last minute. I know if I call, you will make our time to be here. She has said sorry a lot, forgive her"

I shake my head no and ran to my room. I tried locking the door but can't, they must have removed the lock knowing how I will react

I collapse on my bed, I hate this house. It stopped being a home 10 years ago

I let the tears fall, I thought that after all this years it will hurt less, but no this betrayal is unforgettable

Flashback

It was my mum's birthday and my first year in the university. I and Ifeoma were best friends and course mate

I didn't attend lectures that day because I wanted to bake a cake for mum while she was at work

I came back home and entered my room. There were two bodies on my bed

The female voice sounded familiar and the male must be making l©v£ to her

"Oh daddy daddy, oh yes yes"

Grunts and moans fill the room, my room.

"Come for me come now kitten, come for daddy"

Who could be making l©c£ on my bed. I walk closer to be unsure of the voices I heard. My mind must be playing tricks on me

"Ah! Daddy"

"My sweet little kitten, you always make daddy glad and you will be rewarded"

He collapse on her and start kissing her shoulders

"Daddy?"

Few moments later

"Kemi, what are you doing here"

"This is my room, what are you doing here"

Ifeoma pull up the sheets to cover herself

"Look it's not what it looks like"

Said my father

"Today is mum's birthday, you should be out there looking for ways to make it memorable for her instead you are here f*¢king my best friend!"

I looked over to ifeoma

"And you don't you have the least shame. This is my dad, how could you"

"Am sorry kemmy, it's a stupid mistake"

Said ifeoma

"Why her huh, ain't there other girls and why my bed"

"Does that even count, or would you prefer it on your mum's bed. Am sorry you had to find out like this. But your dad is great and your mum wasn't pleasing him"

"How dare you?!"

I spoke with as much anger and venom that I could mutter. How can she take this so lightly. She is supposed to be my best friend, the one that got my back like I got hers

"Sugar daddy here told me"

I stretch my hand to slap her but he push me off

I quickly turn around, I don't want to see them n@k£d, they disgust me

"Get out of my room, my house, my life!

" Yerk am leaving, the room smells anyway. And also, you made me do this"

I turn back to her but didn't move to were she stood, n@k£d

"you are mad Ify, you are mad. How did I make you sleep with my father, did I sleep with yours?!"

Ifeoma hiss loudly and walk to the bathroom

"Don't tell it to your mum, it will break her"

Said my father, making me turn my attention to him. He is still lying there and there is no sign of remorse on his face, it's like he did the right thing

"How long has this been going on"

"Since you guys entered Ss3"

That should be a year plus now and I did suspect a thing. I ran to the kitchen and cried my eyes out

I told it to mum and that made them divorce, that man wasn't ashamed to admit it.

I and ifeoma became enemies and she never came near me. 2 years later, he got married to aunty Funke. Mum advised me to accept her

I lived with my mum until she had to move to Canada because she got a better job there.

I had to come back home and then I met Courtney during the NYSC program, we became best friends and I told her everything

NYSC program \=\= is a compulsory national service Corp that every youth below the age of 30 that just finished their first degree performs.
