First Entry
Sharlynn once again sat in the corner she had now made into her video diary section. She pasted a smile onto her face then hit the record button on her phone.
Sharlynn
Welcome back to another episode of Diary of a Dweeb. I am your dweeb in residence, Sharlynn.
Sharlynn nearly laughed out loud at her on little joke, but kept control of herself.
Sharlynn
I wasn't really sure how I wanted to go about this, but as I thought about it I figured I could just talk about whatever I wanted to. I mean that is the point of a diary, right? To be able to talk about whatever is on your mind. I don't know if that is such a good thing for me.....I mean I usually have TONS running through my mind. So this might seem a little all over the place at first.
Sharlynn
But I guess practice makes perfect. And nobody said they had to be perfect.
What she said next was nearly inaudible.
Sharlynn
Especially if you will be the only one seeing this.
Sharlynn gently cleared her throat before speaking again.
Sharlynn
Guess I best get started then.
Sharlynn
We got a new kid in class today. Yeah I know, big deal; kids move all the time. That really isn't the point of my story though. I just had to preface things so it doesn't seem totally random.
Sharlynn
I hadn't been paying much attention to what was gping on, but unlike my classmates it hadn't been because I was too busy gossiping. Instead I had been engrossed in one of my favorite novels. It was the lack of gossiping that had finally caught my attention.
Sharlynn
Lo and behold standing in the front of the classroom was Jackson Roberts. Of course we didn't know that was his name until Mr. Singer introduced him.
Sharlynn
As I sat there many snippets of information came at me, almost overloaded my senses. I could hear murmuring coming from my classmates. If I was any kind of judge of character I knew that most of the girls would be gossiping to each other about how cute he was. They woukd also be scheming to see who would be first to catch his attention.
Sharlynn
The boys on the other hand woukd fall into one of two camps. They would either see him as competition or would see him as a potential bro.
Sharlynn
Where did I fit in in all of this?
Sharlynn
Well, being the dweeb that I am I was hoping that I could just quietly return to my book. I thought I had a chance right up until the moment that Mr. Singer told me to raise my hand.
Sharlynn
I am glad I hadn't made a fool of myself and kept my hand raised until he had come to sit next to me. Me being me was bad enough, I didn't need to compound it by looking like an idiot. I might not have looked like an idiot, but I sure felt like one.
Sharlynn
Nobody else took the time of day to notice my existence. Why should I think the new guy would be any different?
Sharlynn
Thankfully homeroom didn't last too much longer after that. I could get on with my day and soon forget all about Jackson Roberts. Or so I thought.
Sharlynn
Mr. Singer had other plans.
