Chapter-5

The police led by a detective enters the crime scene and immediately upon seeing their presence the security handovers the woman to the cops. The cops arrest the woman and take her to the squad car to transfer her to the station. The other police officers start securing the boundaries of the crime scene. The detective makes his way to provide first aid to the injured.

Within a few minutes, the paramedics are seen rushing towards the crime scene and sees the bleeding Ace Kegel. They make their way and provide emergency medical support after which they shift Ace to a gurney and then shift him inside the ambulance. After this, they leave the crime scene and make their way to the hospital.

The detective comes near Samuel and says-

“We have a few questions to ask you. Please report to the police station with us.”.

“Yes, sure detective.”, said Samuel.

Just then, Nim rushes towards Samuel holding his phone and says, “Manager, sir, look! there’s already news about this incident. How do we control this?”

“Nim, talk to the PR group and control the news release for now. We’ll talk about releasing an official statement later. I’ll go to the police station now. And please make sure you and Jack reach home safely. After this, I’ll go visit the hospital and make sure Ace is fine. I’ll contact the vocal coach, Xavier so that he can visit the hospital now without too much public notice to check up on Ace.”, said Samuel.

Just then Jack says, “No, I want to come with you. I want to make sure Ace is ok. And besides, I have to give my statement too right.”

“Jack...”, said Samuel hesitating.

“No, please! I’m not leaving and that’s final.”, said Jack.

“Ok. Nim please do take care of the work and do send an update on what has happened. Since Jack isn't going home then please visit the hospital now to check up on Ace. We’ll be on our way now.”, said Samuel.

Inside the station, the criminal woman was set up in the interrogation room while Samuel and Jack were on the other side of the one-way mirror along with the police. The detective signals to the cops that he would be going in to interrogate the suspect now.

“Jee-hye. Age-21 years. Dropped out of liberal arts university, 8months back. So, tell me, what were you doing in V13ES boy group studio?”, asked the detective reading from the file containing details of the suspect.

“I don’t want to answer. Let me go! You have no right to question me.”, screamed Jee-hye.

Author- Woah! Says the person who just stabbed someone. And saying that to a cop. Wow! Smooth talk. (*sarcastic)

Jee-hye glares at the author.

*Author felt cold chills so took matters into her own hands and immediately hid behind a cop.

Detective- (rolling his eyes) coward!

Author- You..you...I’ll talk to you later. (pointing at the detective)

Author- (laughing nervously, looking at jee-hye) Ha-ha, just pretend I'm not here. Ok? Let's just continue.

~The author desperately gets back to the story.

“We can do this in an easy way or the hard way. You can choose. I have to remind you that I’m a better option than the others. I talk with words while others. You know what I’m saying right.”, said the detective giving a slight glance towards the female police officer standing in a distance.

The detective saw that Jee-hye understood what he was implying and he observed that she was quite scared as she was physically trembling and was satisfied that this method of interrogation was working.

“So, it would do you well if you choose to answer the questions.”, said the detective.

“Listen Jee-hye. I just want to ask you a bunch of questions, that is all. I promise.”, said the detective in a friendly tone.

There was a long pause after which she meekly answered-

“I work there.”

“How long have you worked there?”, questioned the detective.

“Around 6months now.”, said Jee-hye.

“What was your position?”, asked the detective.

“I’m a part of the cleaning staff.”, she replied.

“Ok so, Jee-hye, you were a part of the cleaning staff. Right?”, double-checked the detective.

“Yes.”, answered Jee-hye.

“What is your connection with Mr.Ace?”, asked the detective.

Jee-hye kept quiet. Refusing to maintain eye contact. She starts fiddling with the hem of her dress.

“Jee-hye. What’s your relationship with Ace? Why were you in the studio at that time of the hour?”, asks the detective.

“He is mine! I love him. He likes me too. We like each other. He is mine!”, she said.

“Alright. I understand.”

“Then why did you stab him? For all we know he is dead. So, why did you kill him?”, asked the detective.

Even though the detective was lying, the words triggered Jee-hye and she had an emotional outburst.

“No No... It can’t be... I didn’t... I..”, stuttered Jee-hye.

“We have a witness who vouches otherwise.”, the detective interrupted.

“No... I... I didn’t want to...”, said jee-hye crying.

“Look jee-hye I don’t want other people to think this was a cold-blooded murder. I’m sure there’s a story to it. You are the only one who can tell that story. There’re always two sides to it. Right?”, said the detective carefully choosing his words.

Jee-hye nodded her head indicating yes and after quite some time, she started telling her story.
