Chapter 2: Silence Speaks~
At the police station, inside the interrogation room, everything was being recorded—every word, every breath, every twitch of emotion. Hidden cameras and microphones lined the walls to make sure the truth could never be denied.
The Boy sat in the cold metal chair, his hands still cuffed. Across from him sat the same officer who had arrested him just hours ago.
The officer leaned forward, eyes sharp.
Police officer
“Why did you kill Song Mi-hee, Kim Taehyung?”
But Taehyung didn’t reply.
He stared at the table, his face completely blank—emotionless. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to defend himself. He just had no strength left. He had already been judged as a murderer long before he had the chance to speak.
Behind the one-way glass, someone was watching. Listening. Every expression on Taehyung’s face was being studied.
Police officer
“Kim Taehyung!”
The officer barked again, more sharply now.
Police officer
“I asked you a question! Why did you shoot and push Song Mi-hee off that cliff?”
Taehyung looked up slowly.
Then he let out a bitter laugh. It wasn’t loud—it was hollow, sarcastic. A laugh not aimed at the officer, but at himself. At his own foolishness.
Foolish for believing.
Believing him.
Believing that he would never leave.
Believing that he would always be by his side.
Believing that his promises were real.
But all of it… it was just a dream built on sand, washed away in a single wave.
Kim Taehyung
“Why are you even asking me?”
Taehyung said, his voice low and cold.
Kim Taehyung
“Didn’t you already decide I’m the killer? So what’s the point of asking the same question again and again?”
His eyes were dull. If someone looked closely, they’d see nothing but emptiness. But beneath that emptiness… was pain. Deep pain. His once innocent eyes were now filled with betrayal, fear, and unshed tears—tears he refused to let fall, because he didn’t want to look weak.
The officer softened his tone slightly.
Police officer
“Taehyung, we need to understand what really happened. Why did you shoot her? Tell us the truth. Help us help you.”
Taehyung met the officer’s eyes and asked calmly,
Kim Taehyung
“And if I say I didn’t kill her… will you believe me?”
Taehyung smiled faintly, without joy.
Kim Taehyung
“Exactly. So what’s the use of talking when no one is ready to listen?”
Behind the glass, the man who had been silently observing turned to his subordinate and whispered an order.
Back inside the room, the officer exhaled slowly, clearly frustrated. Taehyung wasn’t answering—just questioning in return.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. Another officer stepped inside and whispered something to the lead officer.
Police officer
“Take him away.”
Police officer
“Put him in a cell.”
The officers escorted Taehyung out of the room, his feet dragging slightly as if the weight of the world was on his shoulders.
Inside the surveillance room, the man who had been watching Taehyung the whole time didn’t say a word. His eyes followed the screen until Taehyung disappeared from view.
Then he turned around and walked away, his steps quick and firm.
He entered the office of the Commissioner.
Inside, a man was already sitting there, his eyes red with anger and grief.
Commissioner
“Why are you here, Mr. Jeon?”
The commissioner asked coldly, his voice firm.
Man
“Hyung, Taehyung… Taehyung killed Mi-hee.”
His hands clenched into fists as tears of rage slipped from his eyes.
Man
“I never thought he could do this.”
Man
“I trusted him. I left him with his family. But if only I hadn’t—if only I hadn’t left him there, she would still be alive.”
The commissioner silently offered him a glass of water.
Commissioner
“Why do you think Taehyung killed Mi-hee?”
Commissioner
“What if he didn’t?”
The younger man shook his head.
Man
“I would have believed that too… if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. He pushed her, Hyung. He shot her. She reached out to him, but he didn’t even try to catch her.”
His voice cracked, rising with anger.
Man
“She fell! And he just stood there!”
The commissioner sighed and looked away.
Commissioner
“Sometimes what we see with our own eyes… isn’t the full truth. You should’ve let him explain his side. But now, with your statement, even if he’s innocent, saving him won’t be easy.”
Man
“You think what I saw was wrong?”
The man asked in disbelief.
Man
“If Taehyung didn’t do it, then who pushed her? Who fired the gun? Are you saying Mi-hee tried to kill herself? That’s ridiculous. You’re making no sense.”
He stood up, voice hardening.
Man
“Please, don’t try to protect him, Hyung. He killed her. He deserves punishment.”
Commissioner
“The court will decide that.”
The commissioner said coldly.
Man
“Then promise me you won’t interfere.”
The man said, his voice bitter.
Man
“Promise me you won’t try to save him.”
He turned and walked away without waiting for an answer.
The same man who once held Taehyung close with love and care… now hated him with everything he had.
The same man who promised to never let him cry… had become the reason Taehyung was breaking.
Elsewhere, in a black car speeding down the road, the air inside was heavy.
The CEO sitting in the backseat had an aura so cold, it made the man’s hands tremble slightly on the wheel. His face was stone, his eyes blank—but if someone dared to look closely, they would see fire behind that stillness. A storm waiting to break.
The man swallowed hard, choosing his words carefully.
?
“Boss… why are we going to the crime scene?”
The kind of silence that warned: Don’t ask again.
And so, the man focused on the road ahead, praying not to say anything wrong.
Riri
Yoo, tell me honestly — do the story and dialogues sound cliché?
