The chandelier glows softly above a long dining table. Silverware clinks, laughter flows. Devansh is seated at the head of the table beside his Dadaji (Devraj), with Kanika (his mother), Rajeev (his father), and a few other family members gathered. The air is light… until it isn’t.

He said Firmly "So, Devansh... now that you’re finally back, I believe it’s time to talk about your future."

Smiling, unaware "My future? Let me guess... taking over the business?"

Nervously smiling "Not just the business, beta. We meant... settling down too

"Settling down?"
(He glances between them, sensing the tension.)
"What exactly are we talking about?"

"I’ve spoken to Sharma ji. We’ve fixed your marriage, Devansh. The girl’s name is Ruhani."

He said sharply "I beg your pardon?"
rajeev Malhotra (ml dad)
"She’s a wonderful girl. You’ve met her once, years ago. Sharma ji’s daughter."

"You arranged my marriage... without even telling me?"
kanika malhotra(ml mom)
"We wanted to surprise you. It’s a good match—one any man would be lucky to have."

He laughs coldly "Well then maybe one of you should marry her."
(An awkward silence fills the hall. Servants freeze mid-step. Devansh’s friends glance at each other.)

voice firming "Watch your tongue, Devansh. This is not a request—it’s a decision made for your own good."

"My own good? You think throwing me into a marriage I never agreed to is good for me?"
kanika malhotra(ml mom)
She said softly "We thought you’d trust us."
devansh malhotra(ml)
His voice low, eyes cold "I trusted you. Not to choose my life for me."

Devash said coldly "I’m sorry. But I already have someone. Someone I love."

He said seriously "Then let her go. That chapter is over. Your duty is here now."

His jaw tightening "I won’t marry someone I don’t even know."
Devraj malhotra(ml grandpa)
"You will. For your family, for your name—and because I said so."
(Devansh glares, fists clenched. The golden warmth of the room now feels like a cage.)
