They called it a love story.
At least, that’s what the papers said.
"Asher Ashford marries Zayden Rookwood in a private ceremony."
Elegant photos. Polished smiles. The illusion of romance so perfect it made him sick.
But Asher knew the truth: it was never about love.
It was about control. Blame. Vengeance.
He ran his fingers along the silk of his wedding dress, now stuffed into the back of his closet like a ghost. The weight of it still clung to his shoulders, even after all these weeks.
He remembered the first time Zayden had looked at him with something other than indifference.
The boy Zayden had loved. The boy who had vanished without goodbye, then died in a car crash a month later.
