How to Emotionally Destroy a Reader in 118 Chapters: A Cautionary Tale

The whole story was the shittiest shit ever!! At first, it seemed like the usual predictable plot, but oh boy, was I wrong. If possible, I’d give this story a -infinity rating. It’s about T and J, who have a complicated relationship. Although T works for J as his secretary, they frequently have an intimate relationship. But J is engaged to X, and honestly, both are terrible! At first, I thought X was sweet, but she’s just as obsessed as J. F THEM! So J and T have this forbidden, toxic relationship going on — it’s more like prostitution, with T offering himself to J for money just to pay his blind mom’s hospital bills. T also has an elder brother who is mentally unstable, so T is taking care of them with the money J spends on him.

As the story progresses, J’s attitude toward T worsens and becomes physically abusive — hitting him, talking trash, calling him names, etc. Then one day, T’s blind mom wakes up and returns home, but J disrespects T in front of her.

Along the way, T meets J’s cousin N — and wow, N is a total bitch! N falls for T, and J and N have a dark history: J seduced N’s mate, so N killed her mate (I have no idea how they’re even free at this point). T’s mom finds out T is pregnant and that he’s selling his body to J, so she schemes with N to forcefully “mate mark” T without his permission — basically drugging and forcing him into marriage in this ABO world fiction. It’s absolutely traumatic.

The ending is not a typical tragic sad one, but I effing hate it!! How can a mother give a total stranger permission to force her pregnant child like that? When J finds out, there’s a physical fight between him and N, and J stops talking to T. After T confronts his mom, that awful woman decides to kill herself and leaves a recording saying, “I’m sorry T, because of me you’re like this… I wish I’d die.” Who says that? Seriously? T blames J for everything.

Then J kidnaps V, T’s elder brother, thinking he’s T and almost assaults him, but thankfully stops before going further. They have a huge fight, and T and V leave to start a new life. On their way, they get hit by a truck — the child dies. J asks for forgiveness and invites T to his wedding. T forgives him and goes, but there’s drama, people get arrested, and J finds out that T and their child supposedly died, and the person in front of him is V. He’s heartbroken, and V says things like, “Thank God T died without hearing J say ‘143’ to him… J and T will never meet because J will go to hell.”

J gets traumatized, cuts his wrist, and is hospitalized in critical condition but alive. Now he’s crippled and blind because he fainted and fell after cutting his wrist (really??). At the end, we find out T and the child are alive. V tells T not to meet J or know about J’s condition. T still loves J and is heartbroken, then suffers heart failure and dies. J dies too. Now V takes care of T’s child.

Not only is cousin J a criminal type, but T’s mom didn’t sell him; she asked N to force T (like in the ABO world fiction). The truck accident wasn’t fake — it was planned by X. Although both T and V survived, the story is still shit! I mean, this story had really good potential except for a few scenes and was written by someone who isn’t an amateur — sorry to say, but it’s true. Midway I thought, “Oh yeah, finally, it’s getting good!” but the writing ruined it, especially with T. V and N wanted T to abort, even giving him abortion pills without his knowledge! Thank God he found out before taking them. Also, when T wanted to abort, V didn’t let him, saying stuff like “now it’s our family.” I get it, but what about T’s right? T is the one carrying the baby, not others. I swear, the story would’ve been bearable if they let T decide what to do, instead of others meddling in his life and decisions.

Also, can we talk about how some people seem to take rape way too lightly? Rape is an extremely sensitive and serious topic, but this author treats it like it’s just some slap or minor thing. It’s honestly really upsetting and disrespectful to survivors. Handling such topics requires care and responsibility, which this story completely lacks.

When I read those scenes, it felt like I was just reading words with no real weight or emotion behind them. Honestly, the story was so traumatic yet poorly handled that I couldn’t even feel the MC’s pain or cry. And that’s saying something because I usually cry almost every time I read a sad novel. It’s really disappointing how such a heavy topic like rape was treated so lightly and carelessly — like it was just some slap or minor conflict. This shows a lack of respect and understanding for the seriousness of the subject and for survivors.

I've read many stories that include rape, which is absolutely horrible. In those, the male lead rapes the female lead, and the pathetic female lead forgives him easily just because she loves him, like hell with these stories.I hate how these stories portray such behavior, and how the female leads often seem to lack any self-respect.
