Rants & Reviews: The Good, The Bad, and the WTF

This Story Gave Me a Headache pt 1

Name : MY BELOVED BETRAYAL

by - Jeon Minji

Rating: 4/10 (And that’s me being generous.)

At first, I thought, Okay, this story isn’t too bad—just some minor grammatical errors. But nope. The more I read, the worse it got.

Let’s break it down:

The Writing? A Mess.

If I had to rate the writing alone, I’d give it a 4/10. The idea had potential, but the execution? Horrible. The story doesn’t flow well, and half the time, it reads like a rushed summary instead of an actual novel.

Everything Feels Rushed.

One moment, something dramatic happens, and before you even process it, the story jumps to the next event. There’s no proper build-up, no tension—just things happening for the sake of moving the plot forward.

The Friends Are the Worst.

What kind of friends let Tae walk into this disaster? They knew JK had a partner, yet they didn’t warn him? Sure, maybe Tae couldn’t have done anything about it, but at least he would have known. If I had friends like that, I’d rather be alone for the rest of my life.

And more ridiculous than this is that Mrs Jeon knew that MC's biological mom was killed by the stepmom years ago so why is she even not speaking about it ?

I wish no one every encounters people like that

JK Is a Spineless Cheater

Let’s talk about the main issue: Jungkook. How disgusting can a person be? He didn’t tell his own mother that he was already in a relationship. He didn’t stop his forced marriage. And worst of all? He cheated on his current partner by sleeping with Tae. If that wasn’t bad enough, he abandoned his lover the moment his company went bankrupt. What kind of weak, pathetic excuse for a main character is this?

This Doesn’t Feel Like a Story—It’s a Summary.

There’s no depth, no proper pacing, no character development. It’s like the author just vomited ideas onto the page without bothering to connect them properly.

Jungkook \= Walking Red Flag.

He doesn’t love his partner.

He doesn’t love Tae either.

He doesn’t have the guts to fight for himself.

But he does have the audacity to cheat?

Honestly, why is anyone even interested in him?

Mrs. Jeon Needs Parenting Lessons.

Who buys a bride for their son without asking him first? and too too it was 10 billion. I don't remember if it was mention that the MC's family was well know or not. So how can Mrs Jeon know that the MC will be a good spouse for her son ?What kind of outdated, ridiculous plotline is this? She didn’t even consider her son’s feelings—then again, he didn’t speak up either, so maybe they deserve each other.

Tae’s Stepfamily Is Evil for No Reason.

We never get an explanation for why Tae’s stepfamily hates him. They just do. If you’re going to write toxic family dynamics, at least give them a reason beyond "because the plot needs drama."

If JK Loved Hana So Much, Why Did He Marry Tae?

Make it make sense. If he truly loved her, why did he go through with the marriage? Why did he sleep with Tae? Did he not think about how his actual lover would feel? And the second his company collapses, he just abandons her? His love was that fragile?

Tae Magically Becomes a CEO?

This one made me laugh. Tae goes from having no backbone to running two top companies? When did he even go to college?( I don't remember if the author mentioned that he was studying but he is 20 yrs old in the first chapter ) How does someone with no experience suddenly become a business genius? It’s beyond unrealistic.

The Worst Part: SA Used as a Plot Device

And now, the part that made me the most disgusted. The author casually included SA in the story. Not only is this completely unnecessary, but it’s also written in a way that feels like it was just thrown in for shock value. SA is a serious topic—it should never be used carelessly in fiction.

But what makes this even worse? The author admitted that Hana is the name of their real-life ex.

That’s when I realized—did they seriously write their ex-girlfriend into a story just to have her go through SA? If so, that is beyond disgusting. No matter what she did, you do not use someone’s name like that and put them through something so horrific in a story. R*pe is not something to casually add for drama—it needs proper handling and purpose, not just thrown in without care.

Final Thoughts:

This story had potential, but the way it was written ruined it. Bad pacing, weak characters, ridiculous plot twists, and the careless use of SA? No thanks.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely not.
