03. Engangement?!

Narrator pov.

After the king and the queen left Earl Ailith's house, they headed straight to Leonardo Orphanage.

Just like Earl Ailith, Georgia was really shocked by the queen and king arrival.

"Your majesty, I am this orphanage's head, Georgia. What can I help you with, your majesty?" Asked Georgia while kneeling in front of them.

"Please stand up, Lady Georgia," said the queen while helping her to get up.

"We are looking for a girl named Selene Maeve. Is she here?" Asked the queen.

"Selene? Yes, she is here, please come in with me, your majesty," said Georgia as she led them in.

Georgia was worried as to why the king and the queen is looking for Selene. But, she just kept her mouth shut.

After they went in, Georgia call for Selene.

"Did you call for me Lady Georgia?" Asked Selene with her sleepy face.

"Selene, the king and the queen is here, they are looking for you," said Georgia with her gentle smile.

"Good evening your majesty, are you looking for me?" Asked Selene while slightly bowing her head. Selene's demeanor is definitely more carefree and childish than Giselle.

"Hi Selene. I come here to give you a letter," said the queen with her gentle smile. She hand over the piece of paper in her hand to Selene.

Selene confusedly accept the letter and start to read it.

"Selene, Prince Gerald is in a critical condition now. His life is in danger. I know that we had agreed to not get involved with any of the capture targets, but it really doesn't feel right for me to just let a person die like this. Moreover, the queen come to beg me while crying. So, please save him if its possible."

"Your majesty, Lady Georgia, I will immediately send the person that you want to meet to the palace. Please rest assured," said Selene before running out from the orphanage.

The king and queen were very relieved to hear Selene's words. They bid their farewell to Georgia and go back to the palace.

On the other side, Selene is going into a big and beautiful mansion near the palace. After a few moment, she come out with a bag, hat, mask, new set of clothes, and a pair of high heels.

After putting all the disguise, Selene went to the palace.

The moment she arrived at the palace, the guards immediately bring her to the prince's room.

"Doctor! We have been waiting for you! Please save my son!" Said the queen the moment she saw Selene.

Selene only nod her head and make her way towards the prince.

Selene Maeve pov.

After hearing his symptoms and checking his condition, I realized that the prince had a brain tumor. If I want to save him, I will need to do a surgery to remove that tumor.

Before I start the surgery, I signaled the queen and the king to go out so they won't cause any disturbance to me.

I make an opening in Prince Gerald's skull and remove the entire tumor from his brain. Luckily, the tumor is still in the second stage, so it can be completely removed without damaging his vital brain tissue.

The prince opens his eyes an hour after I finished treating him.

"Any discomfort?" I asked the prince.

"No....." answered the prince while weakly shaking his head.

After I heard his answer, I let the king and the queen to come in and see the prince condition. They were so happy that tears start to roll down from their face.

"Gerald! Are you okay? Does your head still hurt?" Asked the queen worriedly.

Gerald shake his head.

"Do you still feel nauseous? Or numb? Or do your eyesight still blurry? Do you still feel any difficulties in speaking?" Asked the worried queen again.

"No...." said Gerald while shaking his head again.

"Then can you hear me clearly now? You don't feel limp anymore? You can think clearly?" Confirmed the queen.

"Yes, Mother, I am okay now...." said Gerald with a weak smile.

The queen burst into tears to hear his son's words.

"Doctor, thank you so much for saving my son's life. Please tell me anything that you want. As long as it is within my capabilities, I will grant all of it," said the queen.

I shook my head to reject her offer.

I don't really need anything from the royal family right now....

"No, no, please accept our gratitude, just tell us anything that you want," said the king.

Once again, I shook my head to reject his offer.

It will be a pain for me if they keep on offering rewards to me. Moreover, I can't speak to them since they might recognize my voice as Selene. So, before the queen and the king could offer any other things for me, I quickly bow my head to them and run away from the palace.

Narrator pov.

The king and the queen were really overjoyed by Prince Gerald recovery. The queen even personally come to Earl Ailith's mansion again to thank Giselle for her help.

"Giselle, thank you so much for helping my son," said the queen to Giselle.

"Please don't mention it your majesty. I only did what I should have," said Giselle.

"No, no, I will still have to rewards you," said the queen with a sincere smile.

"I'm one of this country's citizen. So it's my pleasure to contributed to the country by helping the prince, your majesty. That's why I really don't need any rewards," said Giselle.

Hearing Giselle's wise words, an idea occurred on the queen's mind.

"Giselle, how old are you this year?" Asked the queen.

"Eight years old, your majesty," Answered Giselle.

"Really?? I thought that you were a lot older than that since you speak and act like an adult," said the queen again.

Giselle face turned pale to hear the queen's word. Did her real identity got exposed?

"Eight years old is perfect! I've already decided your rewards now!" said the queen with a smile.

Giselle Ailith pov.

What does the queen mean? Eight years old is perfect? Perfect for what?

I'm happy that my identity hadn't been discovered yet, but I have a bad feeling about this.

"I will engage you to my son!" Declared the queen.

My heart almost stopped beating from hearing her declaration. She will engage me to that playboy prince?!

"Y-y-your majesty, I really don't need any rewards! You don't need to do this!" I tried to change her mind about this engagement.

"Do you hate my son? Or is he not good enough for you?" Asked the queen with a sad face.

"N-no, that's not what I mean...." Before I could finished my sentence, the queen cut my words.

"Then it's settled! You will be my son's fiance! We will hold the ceremony next month after you and my son had fully recovered!" Said the queen uncontested.

Ugh....this is why I don't want to get involved with that prince in the first place. I'm digging my own grave now!

After deciding the engagement on her own, the queen finally went back to her palace.

Right after the queen left, Evangeline come running to my room.

"Giselle! Are you okay?!!" Asked her in panic.

"Calm down Eline, I'm okay," I calmed her down with a smile.

"I rush here as soon as I heard that you were attacked by an assassin. They say that your wound was very severe," said Eline worriedly.

"Don't worry, Selene had treated it perfectly," I said.

"That's a relief....." said Eline with a sigh.

"The problem now is not that wound, Eline," I sigh as I prepare my self to hear Eline's scream.

"I'm getting engaged to Prince Gerald next month," finished me.

"WHATT?!!" Eline screamed in schocked.

"How can it happened?!" Asked Eline.

I tell her the story about how I ended up with this trouble.

"The four of us need to have a meeting as soon as possible," said Eline.

I nod my head in agreement with her.

"But....we are an eight years old kid now. We need permission from our parents to go out. With my condition now, I don't think we can gather together. Moreover, I heard that Stephan also sprained his ankle," I said to Eline.

"Hah? Stephan sprained his ankle?" Eline was surprised to hear about this.

"I heard that a maid accidentally pushed him to the stairs, luckily he only sprained his ankle," explained me.

"Ohh....then, five days from now. Let's gather together in five days," said Eline.

"Okay, let's meet up at the fountain at 8 a.m. Please tell Stephan and Selene about this," I said to Eline.

"Okay then, I will go now, get well soon, okay?" Said Eline before going back to her house.

Evangeline Ethare pov.

It's a relief that Giselle is okay. I almost got a heart attacked when I heard that she was attacked by an assassin.

But, I still can't believe that Giselle is going to get enganged with one of the capture target. Moreover, with that Gerald?! How can this kind of thing happen?! Even at our previous world, Giselle has always been a perfect-mannered girl who is both gentle and calm. She is good at taking care of people and has a very calming aura. How could her life partner be a hedonistic and playboy brat like that Gerald?! He is not even worth it to be in Giselle's sight!

Ugh...this is really frustrating!!

I know that the 'capture targets' in the game is usually a perfect guy that can melt any girls hearts, but this game....

This game is a exception. The capture target in this game may seem perfect on the first glance, but the more you get involved with them, the more you will find out about their 'dark and ugly' side.

Well, they will become a better person as the times go by, but.....

Because I was walking to my home with my wandering mind, I accidentally bumped into a big and scary man.

The coffee in his hand fall into the ground.

"Hey!! Use your eyes when you are walking!!" Said that man to me.

"I-I'm really sorry!!" I quickly apologized to him. This is my fault since I'm walking with my mind elsewhere.

"What?! Sorry?! Do you think that everything will be okay with a sorry?! You must compensate me for my coffee!" Said him.

"That's fine, how much should I pay?" I asked him.

"Two golds," answered that man.

"Haah?! Are you crazy?! How could a coffee be that expensive?! You are definitely a swindler!" This guy is too much of a swindler! He thinks that he can get anything with his scary look? It won't work with me!

"Who are you calling crazy and swindler?! Do you want to die?! Choose now, pay two golds or die here!!" Said that man angrily.

Woah....this is dangerous. It will be bad if this man really did something to me. But, this is a broad daylight. And I think that my voice was pretty loud before. So, why does no one come to help me? This is not a desolated place and there are even some people who pass by me. But, they act like they didn't see me. Why are they ignoring us?

As if he can read my mind, the big and scary man mockingly laugh at me.

"Hahaha, no one will help you, little girl! Haven't you heard about me? I am Kristoff! The infamous killer! Defying me means instant death!!" Said him proudly.

"Kristoff...?" I asked him with a stupefied look.

"Yes! I am Kristoff! What? Are you scared of me now?" Asked him with a triumphant smirk.

Who the hell is Kristoff? I've never even heard about him in the game. He must be one of the unimportant characters, right?

"Who the hell is Kristoff? Is he some kind of ugly swindler or something?" The man face turned red with anger after hearing my words.

Oh no...I think that I went too far with my words.....
