Vanika Kapoor wasn’t exactly excited about school. Sure, a new city, a new start sounded fun, but waking up at 6 AM? Torture.
She groaned, pulling the blanket over her head as her mother’s voice echoed through the house.
“Vanika! Jaldi utho, warna pehle din late ho jaogi!”
Late? That one word jolted her awake.
After rushing through breakfast, grabbing her bag, and tying her hair in a messy ponytail, Vanika ran out of the house.
Ritvik, standing near the car, smirked. “Aaj pehla din hai, aur tu pehle se late?”
“Band kar apni bakwas,” she muttered, throwing her bag into the backseat.
The ride to school was filled with Vanika’s daydreams about making friends, exploring the campus, and maybe even finding a secret spot to bunk classes.
What she didn’t expect was to land in trouble within the first hour.
Vanika entered the school a little too confidently, looking around at the huge building, manicured lawns, and students in crisp uniforms.
"Not bad," she muttered.
Then she saw a group of juniors struggling to carry a pile of books while some bully seniors laughed at them.
That ticked her off.
Vanika marched towards them, crossed her arms, and said, “Itna mazaa kyun aa raha hai? Tumhare muscles books uthane ke kaam nahi aate?”
The seniors turned to her, surprised. “Aur tu kaun hai?”
“Tumhari akal,” she shot back. “Bas use karne ka tareeka nahi aata.”
A few people snickered. The bullies frowned. One stepped forward. “Dekh, nayi ho toh tameez se reh. Samjhi?”
Vanika raised an eyebrow. “Tameez? Tum logon mein hai nahi, toh mere se expect mat karo.”
The bully was about to say something when a deep, composed voice interrupted.
“Yeh ho kya raha hai?”
Everyone froze.
Standing there was Reyansh Singhania.
The Head Boy. The rule enforcer. The calm but intimidating perfectionist.
Vanika turned to him, her first thought being—“Yeh teacher hai ya student?”
Reyansh looked at her with an unreadable expression. His neatly pressed uniform, serious eyes, and no-nonsense vibe screamed ‘strict’.
“The new student?” His voice was neutral but firm.
Vanika blinked. “Haan, problem?”
His jaw tightened slightly. “Yes. Breaking rules on the first day is a problem.”
She scoffed. “Maine kya kiya?”
“You interfered in a situation without reporting it to the student council. We have protocols,” he said, voice calm yet sharp.
Vanika rolled her eyes. “Bachchon ko books uthwaana protocol ka part hai kya?”
There was a flicker of surprise in Reyansh’s eyes—probably because no one dared to argue with him like this.
The seniors shifted uncomfortably. “Sir, yeh—”
“Enough.” Reyansh shot them a warning glance before looking back at Vanika.
“Next time, instead of creating a scene, follow the school’s disciplinary process.”
Vanika crossed her arms. “Agar kisi ka time waste karna ek school rule hai, toh yeh bhi likhwa dijiye.”
Reyansh narrowed his eyes. “Detention.”
Vanika blinked. “Kya?”
“You have detention,” he repeated, before walking away.
Vanika stood there, stunned. Pehle din detention? Yeh toh record hai!
Ritvik was going to laugh at her for weeks.
But as she watched Reyansh disappear into the crowd, she smirked.
"Challenge accepted, Mr. Head Boy."
