Chapter 5: An Unexpected Interruption

The days following their rooftop evening were filled with a subtle yet undeniable shift between Yoongi and Jimin. Their conversations grew deeper, their smiles lingered longer, and even in their silences, an unspoken connection thrummed in the air. For Yoongi, it felt as though he had unlocked a part of himself he never knew existed—a part that sought light, warmth, and the steady presence of someone who saw him beyond his wealth and reputation. For Jimin, Yoongi’s gestures were a reminder that even in the most unexpected places, he could find a sense of belonging.

Yoongi’s routine visits to the café continued, but they had taken on a different tone. No longer were they purely coincidental or a businessman’s need for coffee. Instead, each visit felt purposeful, a quiet affirmation that Jimin had become a part of his day he couldn’t forgo. Jimin, in turn, had begun to anticipate those moments, finding himself looking forward to the sight of Yoongi’s familiar figure walking through the door.

But not everyone saw their growing bond in the same light.

One afternoon, as Jimin wiped down the counter after the lunchtime rush, a sharply dressed woman entered the café. Her heels clicked against the tiled floor, and her gaze swept the room before settling on Jimin. She was striking, with an air of authority that made the surrounding customers take notice.

“Excuse me,” she said, her tone crisp and clipped. “I’m looking for Mr. Min.”

Jimin straightened, slightly thrown off by her directness. “He’s not here at the moment. Can I help you with something?”

Her lips curved into a faint smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “I see. And you are?”

“Jimin,” he replied hesitantly. “I… work here.”

The woman’s gaze flicked over him, assessing, before she extended a perfectly manicured hand. “Seo-hyun Kang. I’m a close associate of Yoongi’s.”

Jimin accepted the handshake, though her grip was firm to the point of discomfort. “Nice to meet you,” he said cautiously.

Seo-hyun’s smile widened, though there was something sharp about it. “Likewise. It’s… interesting to see where Yoongi spends his time these days.”

Jimin frowned slightly, unsure of her meaning, but before he could respond, Seo-hyun’s phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, her expression softening slightly.

“Well, it seems I’ll have to catch him another time,” she said, slipping the phone back into her designer handbag. “Do let him know I stopped by.”

Jimin nodded, watching as she turned and left without another word. The encounter left an odd taste in his mouth, but he shrugged it off, returning to his tasks. Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Seo-hyun’s visit had been more than just a coincidence.

Later that evening, Yoongi arrived at the café as usual. Jimin greeted him with a warm smile, but the memory of Seo-hyun’s visit lingered in the back of his mind.

“Someone came looking for you today,” Jimin said casually as he prepared Yoongi’s coffee.

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Who?”

“Seo-hyun Kang,” Jimin replied, watching Yoongi’s reaction closely.

Yoongi’s expression tightened for a brief moment before he composed himself. “What did she want?”

“She didn’t say. Just mentioned she was a close associate of yours.”

Yoongi sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Seo-hyun works for my father. She’s one of his most trusted advisors.”

Jimin’s brow furrowed. “She seemed… intense.”

Yoongi let out a dry laugh. “That’s one way to describe her. My father tends to surround himself with people who share his… ambition.”

Jimin hesitated before asking, “Do you think she’s here because of us?”

Yoongi’s gaze softened as he looked at Jimin. “If she is, it’s not her decision to make. Jimin, I don’t care what she or anyone else thinks. You’re important to me.”

Jimin’s chest tightened at Yoongi’s words, but before he could respond, the café door opened, and a group of customers entered, breaking the moment. Jimin offered Yoongi a small smile before returning to his work, but the words lingered in his mind, a source of comfort and resolve.

Unbeknownst to them, Seo-hyun wasn’t the only one taking notice of their growing bond. Whispers had started to circulate among Yoongi’s social circles and within the walls of Min Co. Though Yoongi and Jimin remained unaware, forces were already at play, threatening to disrupt the fragile happiness they had begun to build.
