4: After reborn, I didn't rush to save her from her first love

"Sir, it's time for lunch. You have lunch scheduled with Dr Violet," Jordan's assistant entered and said.

Jordan was already packing his stuff when he heard. He simply gave a nod, gave his assistant and secretary some instructions, and then walked away to pick Violet up from the hospital.

Over the past week, Jordan had been sharing meals with her, whether Cooking together in a private kitchen or dining out. It was peaceful and enjoyable.

Jordan started to share some small things with her about his work and business. They had missed many years, so there was a bit of awkwardness which soon fled upon their recent conversations and interactions.

"Eh... I heard that Emily has been missing for a week now." Violet looked up at Jordan, slowly swirling her red wine in the goblet.

Jordan hesitated, taking a moment before responding, "Do you think I'm cold for not reaching out to help her?"

Violet pressed her lips, not giving any answer, but her silence was the best bitter answer for Jordan, which somehow made his heart sink.

Does she also think I am ruthless? I was heartless enough to turn my back the moment I saw Emily getting into trouble. But sadly, this is what I did so there is no way for me to say that I am innocent in this matter.

"Then I am very thankful to you for the evolution of my character for me. I will be under your care to help me block those people who say that I am morally corrupt" he joked lightly.

Violet's serious demeanour softened at his playful banter, and as she witnessed his genuine smile, her heart eased. His bright, phoenix-like eyes radiated a gentle charm under the warm light, creating a moment of connection that felt reassuring and uplifting amid the chaos.

Maybe I just had a filter for him over my eyes, which led me to believe whatever he said. My friend was quite right to call me a pathetic fool and loser in the love field. If she were to be here, she would be rolling on the ground while laughing holding her stomach after hearing me siding with Jordan just like this.

Ahem!!

Later that evening, Jordan drove Violet back to Smith Mansion to let her be with his parents for some time. His mother has been on good terms with Violet's mother, so she treated Violet extremely well.

Violet also did not avoid or turn down this offer. The time she got after her work in the hospital she immediately went to get some supplements and visited Jordan's parents.

Her interactions also started to get more frequent with Jordan. She was happy to accompany him.

Three days later, there was a banquet Jordan asked Violet to be his female companion. Violet was not expecting this. Although she has been getting along well with Jordan these days, going to such a social event where the press will present is something big to consider.

Jordan doesn't have any rumours around him. He has a clean background and image, but sometimes, his rare involvement with Emily got exposed to the media, which was also taken down immediately.

Why? Because he didn't want Emily to feel pressure to do something she did not want to.

"Worried about something?" Jordan leaned down to her height level looking at her.

"There will be media. Are you not afraid of getting into some rumours." Violet calmly looked into his eyes and said.

Jordan chuckles, "And here I thought you despised me. I don't mind, and they don't dare to write anything reckless. Get ready for the banquet. I'll be at your place at 6 to pick you up."

Jordan handed over the pastry he got for her as left. He was, like a gentleman was waiting downstairs at her house half an hour before the appointment time but he underestimated Violet's moves and feelings for him.

Just five minutes later, when he came here, she also descended and stood at the doorsteps. Both of them were stunned.

Violet paused, holding the doorknob, and Jordan paused, leaning on the car with his arms crossed against his chest.

"Don't tell me you were going to wait for me here before the time?"

Jordan chuckles moving towards her. Violet's face flushed red in embarrassment.

I do have this thought, but who would have known he'd come here even before me?

BANQUET HALL,

Jordan took Violet to greet the host of the banquet and held her hand when some businessmen came to talk to him. He did not let her get away just because he feared that something might happen to her.

It's not an exaggeration to say that he has a lingering fear of her getting hurt when he is not paying attention. She suffered unreasonably at the hands of Emily because of him in his previous life.

Now he doesn't want the same tragedy to happen again.

"Violet? Is that you?" A woman's voice came from behind. She was holding a man's hand. Both of them were dressed in matching outfits.

Violet was going back to Jordan after she was done with her phone call when she heard a familiar annoying voice; as she turned to look, she found the same person in her memory who fit well with the phrase 'annoying voice'.

"What are you doing here? Are you alone or with someone else? Why don't you call out your partner for this banquet and let all of us have a good talk?"

"Lily, are you that free to poke your nose on my every move?" Violet said.

Lily laughed, "Don't be like this. We are all friends and know each other quite well. It is a coincidence that we met here. You still have not told me who you are with. Let Liam and I treat you to dinner. Right, Liam?" She leaned on Liam's shoulder while looking at Violet with a provocative look in her eyes.

Violet just smiled, looking at the smug look in her eyes. Liam was the man who was chasing after her during their college years, but she remained unmoved. Then Lily entered, and surprisingly, both of them started dating after six months of Liam's pursuit.

Violet did not take any of this to her heart or feel bad. She was there to study not to fall in love with anyone. She did not take this as something serious, but Lily and Liam started to appear as a couple in front of her more and more, doing nothing special but just boasting a sweet relationship between them. She watched them as a clown performance before walking away.

Not soon after this, she started to learn from her mentor and moved to somewhere else, and the contact was cut off.

"Do you have a boyfriend, or are you still single? I know many good men. I can help you introduce a few good ones," Lily said after not getting any response from Violet.

"Sorry to disappoint you lady, But she does have a boyfriend."

Jordan walked over and held Violet's shoulder, looking at Liam and Lily with a calm, cold gaze. He was coming here to find Violet when he heard everything. How can he let her bear such grievance right under his nose?
