Chapter : Four

MELODY

"Mom, where are we going?" Cade asked as I dressed him up

"We are going on a date" I smiled and picked the comb to brush his hair

"What's a date?"

"There's this guy, he likes me so we are going to eat in a restaurant with him" I replied

"Wow, is he going to be my daddy" Cade asked and I chuckled

"I don't know yet" I replied. My phone began to ring and I rushed to attend to it.

"Cade, let's go, he's already waiting" I said and took my handbag from the bed before rushing out with him

ALEX

"Babe, I want a massage" I pouted

"Ummm, can you give me a few minutes please" She replied

"What are you doing"I asked

"Just a few minutes" She replied and continued pressing her phone. We just finished eating dinner and she's on her phone again

"Babe, I'm waiting" I said

"Can you stop whining, I am coming" She snapped and I raised a brow.

Really??

"I am sorry " She said and dropped her phone

"It's fine" I said and laid on my back, covering myself with the duvet

"Don't you need the massage anymore" She asked

"No, good night" I said and kissed her cheek before closing my eyes. I heard her sigh before laying beside me and placing her head on my chest.

JORDAN

"Hello, you look gorgeous" I said and hugged her

"Thank you, you look great too" she replied and I pulled out a chair for her to sit on.

I noticed she came along with a little boy.

"Hey little man, how are you" I asked

"Fine sir" he replied and I smiled.

I sat on the chair and carried him on my laps

"Wow, chicken" The little boy grinned

"You love chicken?" I asked and he nodded

MELODY

"You didn't tell me you have a son" Jordan asked

"I'm sorry, you don't like him?" I asked

"I love him so much, he's jovial and cute" he replied and I laughed

"He's not really my son though. He's my friends child" I said

"Wow, that's nice" He replied and we got into the car. Cade had already fallen asleep so we had time to kiss without being careful.

KIMBERLY

I made sure I woke up very early and entered the early morning bus.

"Good morning Mark" I greeted

"Wow, why are you here so early" Mark asked

"To avoid what happened yesterday" I shrugged

"I am really sorry about that, I heard she slapped you" He said

"It's nothing, she's just being paranoid" I laughed and Mark smiled before I entered my office.

I dropped my bag on the table and opened the windows before cleaning the chair and desk.

Something fell down when I was cleaning Alex's table

I bent down and picked it up. It was a condom. What is this doing here, well he has a girlfriend but this is an office for crying out loud.

I shook my head to stop myself from thinking about all the nasty things they would have done on this table

Gross, I quickly put it back in its place and continued arranging.

ALEX

"Boss" Kim called

"Yes, what's the problem"

"K&C group are launching their new branch today and they sent an invitation" she said

"What date and time is it" I asked, looking at her.

"Tomorrow, six pm" she replied

"How sudden, I don't think I will be able to attend. '' I said, my eyes still fixed on her beautiful face. She dyed her hair red at the tips and packed it into a ponytail and it made her look more pretty

"The C.E.O brought the invitation himself, it would be nice if you go" She said

"Alright, I will" I replied and she bowed

"By the way, your hair is nice" I said

"Oh, thank you Sir" She bowed and I smiled

KIMBERLY

I missed my steps when I was walking to my seat and I fell on the floor

"Ouch" I winced in pain

"Are you alright" Alex asked rushing towards me

"Yes sir" I said and stood up dusting my skirt

"Be careful, you don't always have to wear heels. I wonder how ladies feel comfortable in that" He said and I laughed

"It's the dress code and I can't go against it"

"You need to have a pair of flops in the office Incase your feet's are tired then you can change to your heels when going out" he said and I nodded

HANNAH

"Welcome baby, how was work today" I said hugging him

"Tiring" He replied and removed his tie. He dropped the bag he was holding on the table and gulped down the glass of water

"What's that" I asked pointing at the bag

"My secretary fell at the office today so I got the flops for her, it's tiring walking in heels all day" He said and my eyes widened

"But that's the company rule. I know but it's also not favoring them" he replied

"Oh, that's nice. Just go upstairs and freshen up while I make dinner" I said and he nodded, taking the bag with him.

I quickly took my phone and dialed Mark's number.

"Mark, i need you to do something for me"

"What's that ma'm " he asked

"Now I want you to keep a close eye on them. There would be a party at K&C group tomorrow, you have a very important job to do" I said

"Sure ma, I'll do anything you ask" he replied

"Good, I'll call you later" I said and hung up

"Kimberly, I feel sorry for you already" I smirked evilly.

I got to know that he drove her to the office yesterday because I had a camera hidden in his car and now he's here buying a flop for her because she fell at the office today.

"I'll teach you a lesson and that's when you will learn to stay away from what's not yours " I said and went into the kitchen to cook his dinner.

KIMBERLY

I was in the office typing some documents when Mark walked in. Alex was yet to come.

"Good morning Kim, are you busy" Mark asked

"Nope, any problem" I asked

"No at all, I was just thinking if you could follow me to the dinner party tonight" Mark said and I laughed

"Tell me you're joking, I wasn't invited" I replied

"I know but I was invited, everyone is going to be there, the boss and his girlfriend will be there too and I would be lonely there" he said

"Oh alright" I replied

"Thank you so much," He said .

The door opened and Alex walked inside.

"What are you doing here?" He asked

"Nothing" Mark replied and rushed out

"Good morning boss" I greeted. He ignored me and walked to his seat.

"Discussing during work hours, 50 dollars deducted from your pay" he said and I gasped

"Huh"

"Another fifty gone" he said and I closed my mouse with my palm to avoid making another sound

Hundred dollars gone from my salary. Why is he so angry, I am not the one who made him angry!!!!

ALEX POV

"Jeez, Alex calm down" I muttered rubbing my temple. I was burning in anger that I could feel smoke coming out of my skin

I woke up this morning and saw a text on Hannah's phone. It was from Paxton. I don't like going through her phone but I had to check it.

They were going on a date this evening, really???

I dressed up and left the house without waiting for her.

And I wanted her to follow me to the launching ceremony this evening.

I looked at Kimberly, she was typing on her laptop.

"Kim" I called

"Yes sir" She replied

"I forgot a bag in my car, get it for me" I said pointing at my car keys on the table. She nodded and picked the keys before leaving the office.

Few minutes later, she wasn't back. What's keeping her so long. I stood up from my seat and checked through my window. I could see my car from there.

My face darkened as I saw her standing with Mark.

"What's up between the both of them" I wondered and walked back to my seat

The door opened and she walked in.

"Here it is Sir" She said dropping it on the table

KIMBERLY

I returned with the bag but I was scared because of the look on Alex's face. I had met Mark outside and I decided to vent on him for making me lose a hundred dollars. He apologized and promised to pay me back of I followed him to the party

Back to Alex, his face was dark and scary.

"It's yours take it" he said

"Huh???"

"I think your ears are functioning properly" He huffed

"Thank you sir" I said trying to hide the excitement in my voice. I haven't seen what's inside yet but it must be something beautiful because of the way it was packaged

I went to my seat and opened the bag and my eyes brightened.

It was a fluffy office flop, he asked me to get it yesterday and now he bought it for me.

So cute, I turned and caught him staring at me but he quickly looked away.

I took off my heels and tried it. It fitted my legs perfectly. I was engulfed with the excitement that I forgot about my deducted salary.

HANNAH

Alex had already gone to work before I woke up. I saw a message from Paxton asking us to meet this evening to discuss the modeling work.

"What am I going to do now? Alex would be going for dinner tonight and I know he would ask me to follow him," I wondered, pacing up and down the room.

I would find a solution to that before evening. I needed to eat first, my stomach was rumbling.

I walked to the kitchen and all the pots were empty, neatly washed and hung up. The next chefs are to come in the evening

That means I would order food because I can't cook. There are chefs who come in every day to cook and they leave once they are done cooking.

ARIANA

"Hey girl, what are you doing here all alone?" Julia asked, sitting on the empty swing beside me.

"Nothing, I just feel sad and lonely" I replied

"Why?"

"I miss my mum alot, I wish she was here" I said

"Owwww, I know how you feel but you just have to be happy because you're living the best life without a mum" Julia said

"Why do you think so" I asked

"You live in a huge mansion, you own a car and now you have a wealthy and handsome boyfriend. What else do you want?" Julia said

"You're right" I nodded

EVENING

HANNAH

I heard the sound of Alex's car and I quickly climbed the bed and covered myself with the duvet. The door clicked open and I felt his presence

"Babe, I am back home. You didn't go to work?" He asked and I was silent

"Babe" he called and walked to the bedside. He pulled the duvet down.

"What's wrong?" He asked, touching my face.

"I've been feeling sick since morning" I replied

"Did you call the doctor" He asked and I nodded

"Where are the drugs "

"Errrm, I already took them, it's just for morning and evening" I lied

"Alright, I wanted us to go for the dinner together, but since you're sick, I'll just cancel my plans" He said

"No babe, you can go and I'll take care of myself" I said slowly.

"But I will be bored without you" He said

"I am so sorry, don't worry, just go and have fun" I said and kissed his cheek.

He smiled and entered the bathroom.

Hmmmm, Thank God. He's so easy to convince I will just go and meet Paxton after he leaves the house

"I am sorry Alex, this would be the last time I will lie to you" I muttered

KIMBERLY

I walked out of my room clutching my purse and walking carefully to avoid falling because I wasn't used to wearing heels.

"Wow, you look gorgeous" Mum said as I stepped into the sitting room.

"Thanks mum, but I feel nervous" I replied

"You don't have to be, just make sure you return on time" Mum said

"Alright, bye" I said and kissed her cheek before rushing out of the house to board a cab.

Few minutes later, the Cab stopped in front of the K & C garden. That was where the dinner would be taking place.

I looked at myself for the last time. I hope I will fit in here. The gown I was wearing was the one I wore to my graduation party. That was the night I got pregnant.

My phone began to ring and it was Mark calling.

"Hey Kimberly, where are you?" He asked

"I am here already but I can't find you" I replied

"Just stay where you are and I'll come get you"

"Okay" I said and hung up.

The place was glowing with different types of lights and you would think it was daytime.

Mark came and took me inside and we walked to the table that was reserved for us.

I could feel some men staring at me and felt uneasy.

"Wow, you got the men staring" Mark said and I forced a smile

ALEX

I was sitting on the VVIP Table when a pretty girl walked past. All the men present couldn't stop staring at her as she walked to take her seat.

The dull red gown she was wearing complimented her smooth and perfect skin. My eyes too in her physique within a second.

Those hips and cleavages were just too catchy to ignore.

I cleared my throat and began to press my phone. I had a fiance and I shouldn't be looking at other ladies.

"Your fiancee is probably somewhere having fun with another guy and you're here all alone" My subconscious mind said and gulped down a glass of wine to clear the foolish thought from my mind

PAXTON

"Hannah, I am so glad you were able to make it" I said as the waiter served our drinks

"It's nothing" She replied

"I hope your boyfriend isn't against this" I asked

"No he's not, Alex doesn't stop me from going anywhere I want to, he's cool" She replied and I nodded

"So there's no time to waste here, are you interested in the modeling" I asked

"Yeah I am but there's a problem" She said

"What problem, if I may ask"

"You see, Alex opened a boutique for me and I make a lot of money there, I am not sure he would let me become a model" She said and I smiled

"So you want to miss this opportunity because of your boyfriend?" I asked with a cocky smile

"I don't want to lose this" she said

"Hannah, you shouldn't let your boyfriend stop you from doing what you love. I can assure you that you're going to make lots of money from this modeling, trust me " I said

"Alright, so what do you suggest " She asked and I nodded

"That's a good question" I smiled.

"You can do this without him knowing, I know he doesn't follow you wherever you go " I said and she nodded.

"Alright, I'll give it a thought" she replied and I smiled.

Foolish girl, I will keep brainwashing you everything you have will he gone within a twinkle of an eye

KIMBERLY

The party started and the chairman of the company gave a welcome speech followed by other important guests.

I even saw Alex, he was looking cute in his Black tuxedo and curly hair but as cute as he looks, he's also a jerk for deducting my salary.

We were served wine and cupcakes and they tasted delicious...

"Mark, excuse me, I need to use the restroom" I said

"Alright, it's this way" He said pointing at the passage and I nodded

ALEX

I washed my hands and dried them with tissues before walking out of the bathroom and I ran into the mysterious lady.

She bumped into me and was about to fall so I quickly pulled her up and pressed her closer to my chest. I could feel her heart beating furiously against my chest.

"Ummm, thank you" She said and moved back.

Our eyes locked and my mouth fell open

"Kim" I called

"Good evening boss" she bowed

"What are you doing here??" I asked ignoring her greetings

"I came with Mark, he asked me...."

I waved her off and walked out but I turned one more time to stare at her before leaving

Mark again??? I am sure there is something going on between them.

KIMBERLY

I rested my back on the wall breathing heavily. I couldn't believe I fell in front of the boss again but this time was different.

He pulled me and I actually hugged him. I sniffed my gown and it smells just like him.

Jeez, so sweet.

I was still daydreaming when I heard a knock on the door. I moved back and the door slowly opened

"Mark, what are you doing here" I asked

"You were taking long so I came to check if you're alright" he asked

"Yes I am, you shouldn't be here right now, please excuse me" I said

"No Kim, do you know how intoxicating you are??" He said and I moved back

"What are you saying" I asked and before I could process anything he was already pinning me to the wall and kissing me hungrily

"Mark, you b@stard" I gritted struggling with him but he was stronger than me. I kicked him in between his legs and he left me immediately, groaning in pain

I ran out of the bathroom not caring about my heels that were swaying me around. I moved to my table and picked my back and ran outside

"Kim"

"Kimberly, wait" I heard Alex calling my name but I ignored him and ran out of the place.

I could hear him running after me and calling my name. I quickly flagged down a cab and entered inside.
