Chapter 4: The first week

"This is obviously the work of an apparition" Tohru said to herself

"Haha you don't scare me, apparition!"Tohru laughed

"Now show yourself if you don't wanna get exorcised. I'm a great exorcist ya know"Tohru said, trying her best to sound and look the part

"Ok ok"a voice of a child replied and a white haired girl in a black dress emerged from behind the kitchen counter

"what are you doing here kid, you should go home"Tohru said

"I'm not a kid, I'm older than you by a few centuries, and this is my home"The girl said, smiling

"whaaa?!"

"Yeah, I'm Miyoshi but you can call me Miyo, so who are you?" The girl said

"Oh, im Tohru"

"Ok so what's your business here?" Miyo asked

"Uh, i am actually meant to live here" Tohru replied awkwardly

"oh really" Miyo eyed her and Tohru couldn't shake off the nervous feeling ,she was worried she would be thrown out.

"ok you can live here" Miyo finally said breaking the silence

"whew"tohru breathed a sigh of relief

"I thought i would be thrown out"said Tohru

"i can never do that"

"well k cant thank you enough Miyo ,you are really kind"

"aww you really flatter me.my, I'm liking you already" Miyo said fanning herself with her hands

"I'm tired now,so I'm going to bed if you don't mind"Tohru yawned

"yeah sweet dreams"

THE NEXT DAY...

Tohru was particularly happy today.it was her first day going to school with friends.aftre getting dressed in her new uniform (to her luck,it was a white tee and blue skirt which clashed perfectly with her eyes as well as hair)

She ran downstairs ,she saw Miyo on the couch

"is it me, or does Miyoshi look a bit different"Tohru muttered staring at her face

Just then,Miyo opened her eyes

"You look a bit different than last night"Tohru said

"hold up,y-you can see me?!"Miyo stuttered ,she looked confused and shocked at the same time

"yeah,of course i can see you"Tohru simply replied making Miyo look at her even more bewildered than before

"is something the matter?"

But before Miyo could say a word,there was a knock on the door.

"it must be them. bye Miyo" and with that,Tohru left for school with Lucy and Cedric.

As they were walking through the school hallway,students glared and snickered

"what's up with them?"Tohru whispered for the hearing of only Lucy and Cedric

"no clue." Lucy shrugged

"we're in class 1-A,the class to the left" Cedric said

"you know everything dontchu"Lucy gave him a playful punch in the arm as they all entered.

They claimed the back seat because Tohru didn't want to be easily noticed

"alright everyone settle down"a familiar voice called out and everyone located their seats

It was professor Lionheart.

"you all should remember me,your examiner from the entrance exams"

"i don't recall your names so you should introduce yourselves"

"starting from you" Lionheart said pointing at Tohru

"o-ok"

Tohru was nervously walking to the front of the class when she unexpectedly tripped on something.

It was a distasteful looking guy,blonde, her stuck out his leg for her to trip but Tohru was lucky enough not to trip.

"M-my n-name is T-Tohru Y-Yashiro"she stuttered.

She could see more than half of the class whispering to each other.

"I heard she cheated"she heard someone whisper

"she was abandoned even by the orphanage that took her in"a random guy told someone in a low voice

Tohru could feel tears well up in her

"please can I go to the restroom?"Tohru asked trying her best to suppress her tears though her voice was a little shaky

"yes, it's the door to the right down the hall"

Tohru left the class and entered the restroom.She walked up to the mirror and looked at her reflection,her eyes were a bit puffy but not noticeable.

"I should be used to this by now"Tohru told herself

"suck it up Tohru ,it shouldn't be hard" Tohru told her reflection before leaving to the classroom

She nervously walked back to her seat.

"what took you soo long??"Lucy greeted her as she sat with a worried look

"its nothing i just need to wash my face" Tohru lied

"Is Miss Tohru here now?" a student asked as she walked in

"Y-Yes" Tohru raised her hand

"Ok, follow me. The principal is looking for you"the girl said

"Oh my, i hope I'm not in trouble"Tohru thought

Tohru left with the girl to see the principal

IN THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE...

The principal was on his seat looking solemn. Two students were already waiting there,one was a blonde girl and the other was a guy with long brown hair.

"Miss Yashiro"

"Yes sir"

"I'll need you to participate with these two in the tournament coming up next week"the principal said

"yes sir"

"you'll be training with them until then.so try your best not to bring shame to this school,I'm counting on it"

"Y-Yes sir"

"You can go back to class now"

They all left the principal's office to go back to class and the brown haired dude walked in front

"You're Tohru,right"

"Y-Yeah"

"I'm sure you don't know who we are so let us introduce ourselves"

"I'm Elizabeth Halford but you can call me Liz and he's Kuro Shitora"The girl introduced

"Kuro isn't much of a talker or that great at combat but he's technically a genius.He even bagged the first position "Liz said in an undertone

" i can't wait to begin our training sesh together" Liz squealed before entering the classroom.

Liz sat on her seat which was mid row of the class while Tohru sat on her back seat.

"so Why'd they call you?" Lucy asked Tohru once the class was over

"apparently,there's a tournament coming up and the top three have to participate.it is mandatory"Tohru explained

"yeah i heard about it.i heard you're going against the Celestial School for the Elites (C.S.E)"

"wow that's something"Tohru sighed

"Don't worry Tohru you're gonna crush them"Lucy said, enthusiastically

"yeah i hope so"tohru muttered

The past few days came and went.Tohru was chosen to be the secret weapon for the tournament,the attitude of the students towards Tohru didn't change a bit.

Rumors have been spreading.they say that Tohru was abandoned by her poor parents at the gate of an orphanage.then years later,the orphanage abandoned her too.

"We're going to learn about demons today"Lionheart informed the class

"I wonder where Liz is"Tohru thought to herself as she stared at her empty seat

"some demons are made from high level black(dark) magic. They can only be killed by light magic but fire magic can equally suppress them"

"after class,everyone should research the first people to defeat the demon king in history.ok,class dismissed"

The class emptied within seconds.Tohru,Lucy and Cedric went to the library with the others and sat at a secluded table at the far end of the library.

Cedric picked a lot of books about demons.He dropped the heap on the table

"this is gonna take a while"Lucy said staring at the book pile

"Let's get started then"

After several hours of searching,Tohru alas found the book they have been looking for

There was a picture of four people,two women and two men. One of the women had long flowing platinum blonde hair and a man with spiky jet black hair.

"those two look oddly familiar"

She read further,the book said the lady with blonde hair was a sage just as the man and they were Mr. and Mrs.Cleoford.

"now i know I've heard this name before"

"what are your last names again?" Tohru asked Lucy and Cedric

"where did that question come from?"

"please just answer"

"ok,our last name is Cleoford"

"i knew it!"

"knew what?"

Tohru stood up and sat in the center.

"see this picture"Tohru said pointing at the sages

"yeah those looks like our parents"Lucy pipped up

"exactly,it says that they were great sages that fought in the front lines against the demon lord but died in the process and it all happened and it all happened 11 years ago"

Note: right now,they are 17 years old.

"so it means they died when we were 6 and probably left us in Gila's care." Cedric said

"But Gila never told us how they died, though"Lucy sighed

"Ah, forget it. Let's head to class and tell Lionheart what we found out" Cedric said, getting up.

They went to the classroom.Lionheart sat on his chair with his legs raised on the table.he hurriedly put them down as they walked in.

"there goes my break "he muttered

"you kids found it already.that's awesome!"Lionheart said through gritted teeth

They told Lionheart what they found out.

"thank you.you are free to go back home"Lionheart told them.

They turned to leave, "hold up Tohru,i want to talk to you."Lionheart stopped Tohru on her way out and he gestured for Lucy and Cedric to leave

"Tohru i need your help"Lionheart began

"I'll help with anything sir."Tohru said
