Chapter 2 - Unwelcome Guest

Narrator's P.O.V

Lancelot tossed his bag on the couch and went to the dining room to greet his mother who is busy cooking for their dinner.

“Hey mom”

“How’s school today? You look tired” His mom questioned.

“School’s sucks as always” Lance commented as he opened the fridge to get a cold water. He then leaned at the wall, staring at his mom’s cook while drinking.

“Hmmm smells good” His mom giggled as she pinched her son.

“I know. It’s your favorite dish!” Lance smiled and hugged his mom on her side.

“Okay, okay. Stop with a hug time. I’m cooking, Lance”

Lancelot’s mom is a single mother. He doesn’t have a father since he left his mom while she was pregnant. Even though, he has no father, he has to stand for himself and take care of his mother. She is the only family left.

He let go of his hug and leaned closer to his mom. He pointed his cheek for a kiss and pouted his mouth. His mom chuckled at his own son being childish and softly slapped at the back of his shoulder. In the middle of their giggling time, his mother began to speak.

“I cleaned your room this morning and I found this” She slid down her hand in her pocket and revealed a necklace with an old key chained on,it. Lance tilted his head and asked,

“Where did you get that?”

“Under your bed and also this” Lance widened his eyes in surprise. He jumped after seeing a familiar book on the table. An old book, pages almost ripped. Last time he remembered, he threw it on the bush and now, the book is on the table, lying flat.

He gulped as he picked the book and the necklace with a key, slightly trembled in anxiousness.

“The book and the necklace lied under you bed. Didn’t I tell you before to take care of your books? Look, its dusty and almost ruined.” He was still confused, narrowing his eyebrows. It didn’t make sense for him but seeing the book again he felt cold breeze surrounded him.

He flipped the pages and then looked at his mother. “I-I’ll be right back, mom” He said and quickly dashed in his room.

He shut the door and locked it. He instantly sat on his bed and flipped the pages again. He landed at the last page of the book and saw a chain, locking up a piece of paper. Curiosity struck and too smart to think that he then used a necklace.

The key is the solution to opened the padlock. He slowly let the key inside and it clicked. He unlocked it and removed the chain. Lance picked the piece of paper and together, he opened it.

‘Unwelcome Guest’

“Unwelcome guest?” He didn’t know why but his extinct started to react. He stood up looked around. He thought there will be a flash of light and miracle happened or mist wrapped his room and the characters of the story went outside to meet him.

He didn’t move his body but his eyes will do. Ceiling, floor, walls, there is nothing. Just normal and then, he finally took a deep breath.

“I thought there is weird stuff happening here”

Lance turned around to leave the room. He grabbed the doorknob and twisted it. He suddenly tightened the grip of his hand as he forcefully shut his eyes in pain. The feeling someone threw a big rock on his head, that’s a bull’s eye. His head was on fire and limbs started to weak.

Vision shattered and couldn’t control his balance. Lance fell as if he accidentally threw himself at the tall building. Stumbled and made a loud thud on the wooden floor. The last thing he heard was his mom knocked at the door calling his name.

It’s time…

Unconscious 17-year old boy left the reality and started his journey in the wonderland.
