Episode 20

When those inside emerged, not one glanced back, and among them, Lukyan was not to be found. He knew Lukyan must have remained within, likely tidying up the classroom.

He took several deep breaths and closed his eyes to step forward one foot after the other, and then he saw him. Lukyan appeared to have finished cleaning and was simply organizing a few things into his backpack. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of him. No need to turn around; he could smell him.

His scent had imprinted itself in his nostrils, and it had been impossible to shake it off. He clenched his fists and tried to dismiss it, but he couldn't. He squeezed his eyes shut tightly and listened to his careful, measured steps. He remained gazing straight ahead because just by recalling those pheromones, his body would react oddly. Just remembering how he was blinded by heat, trying to attract him to his side, filled him with anger, and he turned abruptly.

Eley flinched and didn't know where to look. Without further ado, he saw him begin to walk by as if nothing mattered. He stood frozen for a few seconds before following.

"Lukyan," he whispered tremulously and stopped.

It was the first time he had uttered his name, and it felt like he had power over him.

"I will say this just once, stay away, or I will kill you."

An unequivocal warning, and Eley felt special for having been given the time to hear it because part of him thought there was some consideration on his part. Watching him walk away again and as he began descending the stairs, he ran after him.

"I'm sorry! Please, I'm sorry! Everyone thinks I'm a Beta, I was used to just complying! You assumed, and I gave you the response you wanted, but..."

He saw Lukyan whirl around swiftly, and he halted dead in his tracks. Lukyan's eyes blazed with fury, and there they were again, that golden color emerging, and he thought they were magnificent.

"Do you think I care about that? I only spoke to you because I believed, but you don't matter to me. You're an Omega, and that's disgusting—if I had any food in my stomach, I'd have vomited on you," he spat out, and Eley felt diminutive.

He dropped his gaze and swallowed hard because that's what he'd wanted to hear, to put an end to his persistence. Yet, despite feeling as if two knives had been plunged directly into his fragile heart, he didn't back down and lifted his gaze.

He wanted more.

He wanted to be wounded with even sharper and more lethal words.

"I'm sorry," he repeated. "I didn't feel right lying to you, and that day I..."

"Shut up."

"But you made me..."

"Shut up, damn it!" he shouted forcefully and turned to continue walking.

In desperation, Eley grabbed his arm but was swiftly shaken off. He was pushed with such force that he tumbled to the ground.

"I swear if you touch me again, I'll kill you! I hate damn Omegas!" he bellowed, and his rage was so consuming it alarmed Eley. "I hate how they act, how they talk, everything!"

Eley let out a gasping breath as the heat returned with a sudden rush. He pressed his legs together and felt his face grow hot.

Lukyan watched him for a few seconds, and that only intensified his anger.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked with disgust. "Are you in heat again?"

"It's hot," Eley whispered, pressing on his chest and lifting his gaze to meet Lukyan's, blinded by the sexual desire he bore.

Lukyan froze, retreating a step almost out of caution and feeling overpowered by the potential of being drawn in. He clenched his teeth, feeling his own body react, and once again, Eley's pheromones spread through the area with vigour. He saw him with flushed cheeks, dilated pupils, and slightly parted lips.

"Lukyan..." he moaned.

The Alpha clenched his nose tightly, holding his breath with all his might, but it seemed futile. Eley was an Omega, behaving exactly as needed to lure in an Alpha, drawing him in.

"Lukyan, help me," he whispered, moving until he knelt on the ground. "It's your fault; you need to take responsibility."

He watched him lean forward, and he heard his moans.

But once again, Lukyan backed away.

"Leave me alone because I don't care about you; if you're not a Beta, then you're nothing."

He began to hurry down the stairs in a frantic, desperate effort to breathe in fresh air, to clear his mind of unnecessary thoughts, needing too many things while his mind worked against him. He stopped in the corridor, pressed against the wall, and clutched his head as panic set in. Closing his eyes, he envisioned all those Omegas in heat pouncing on him, and a shiver ran down his spine. He recalled all those repugnant pheromones from Alphas that subdued him and forced him into intimacy while his father looked on—as though he was just an experiment.

He slumped to the ground as tears filled his eyes; then he heard footsteps.

"Do you feel that?" he heard a boy ask.

"It's an Omega in heat," another replied, laughing heartily.

He balled his fists and pressed his head in frustration.

"Come on, let's go; surely he's alone and we can have our fun with him."

He heard them move away and wanted to leave. He wanted to leave Eley alone, regardless of what those two Alphas might do to him. He yearned to distance himself in desperation, ignoring the potential consequences.

Standing up, he took a few steps towards the exit, but something inside prevented him from continuing, and he glanced over his shoulder. Then, he began running back toward Eley. He hadn't gone far, but the return journey seemed vast.

Eley was just there. He tried to find his phone to call Cheng but couldn't locate it, and as he heard footsteps, he was alarmed. In his state, he became alert, tried to stand up, and moved away. Entering the first door he found, he collapsed onto the floor, his back against the wall. He tried to calm down but found it impossible. He heard the voices of the boys somewhat distant and thought they were leaving, but the door burst open abruptly.

Glancing sideways, he expected it could be Cheng, who always arrived on time, but it wasn't. He saw him close the door and simply stand there.

"Lukyan," he muttered with a smile.

"He's around here!" one of the boys outside called out.

Lukyan didn't know what to do. He couldn't think of a way to eliminate Eley's pheromones, so he thought of his own. Kneeling beside him, he released them forcefully. So close to the redhead, Eley didn't hesitate to encircle his neck and draw him closer. He buried his face in Lukyan's neck and inhaled deeply.

"Ah... pheromones," he groaned. "I want more, Lukyan. Cover me with more of your pheromones."

He felt a kiss on his neck and pushed away harshly.

"You must touch me; please help," he begged, unaware of his words or actions, conscious only of his desire for everything from Lukyan, his yearning for Lukyan to quell the turmoil within.

As he spoke too much, Lukyan swiftly covered his mouth, but Eley did not cease. For an instant, Lukyan observed him attentively and then removed his hand. The redhead seized it and began fervently sucking his fingers, full of eagerness and longing.

"Are you sure it was an Omega? I only smell the pheromones of an Alpha."

"Yes, I'm certain; it was very sweet, almost like the scent of flowers. An Alpha wouldn't have such pheromones," the other stated as they stood in the corridor, searching around, the aroma now imperceptible.

Lukyan swallowed hard and withdrew to stand up. When the voices faded, he peered out and saw that they had gone.

"Do you have someone to call?"

"Cheng," Eley whispered.

"Who is Cheng?"

"Who I'm with during my heat cycles," he answered with a smile, watching him, clearly intending to provoke. He saw no significant reaction on Lukyan's face or body, only his gaze upon him.

He didn't speak.

He merely reached out, grabbed Eley by the arm, and hoisted him onto his shoulder. He held his breath until reaching his car and then placed Eley in the back seat. Looking around, he found they were alone. He observed Eley complaining, his body burning with the fever that dominated him.

After he closed the door, he took several deep breaths before getting into the driver's seat and starting the car, driving off rapidly without truly understanding what he was doing because he felt terrible with Eley so close.
