Episode 15

Not always, but on certain occasions, Eley would go to the movies. He had no one to go with and inviting his brothers was not part of his plans. He preferred to go alone rather than with two crazy simians who would only embarrass him.

When he left the house, he felt tired. He didn't know why he was so tired, but he could feel it all over his body. He just wanted to distract himself a bit and clear his head to feel a little better, so watching a comedy movie sounded like the perfect thing to relieve stress. He entered the mall to ascend the regular stairs slowly. The movie started in an hour, so there was no reason to rush and run up the stairs.

Once he arrived on the third floor, he was drawn by the commotion. He didn't fully grasp what was happening, but he couldn't help but stand still and watch. There was a lot of noise, and that's when he saw a boy sitting on the floor with his cheeks flushed while two boys almost shouted harshly standing next to him. He knew it was an Omega in heat and that the two Alphas were arguing over taking him. He stepped back because those Alphas were releasing too many pheromones. He felt consumed by all the anger that both felt and wanted to run away when the fear took its toll.

He brought his hand to his forehead and didn't know where to go. He looked around and started walking quickly to the right until he was almost running. He needed fresh air to calm down because he didn't want to provoke something like that.

Turning the corner, he bumped into someone sharply. Items fell to the ground, and he stepped back at the sight of the mess. He looked up to see three Alphas looking at him with disdain.

"Watch where you're walking, idiot."

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize, excuse me."

He tried to get past them quickly, but one of them grabbed his arm.

"And what's that smell?"

Eley froze and briskly broke free from the grip. He stepped back forcefully.

"Are you an Omega?"

"No," he replied sharply.

The Alpha advanced, and Eley backed away quickly.

"And that scent? I swear you're emitting something."

He turned on his heels and left, but the Alpha grabbed him again with force.

"I'm not a damn Omega!" he exclaimed. "Leave me alone!"

They stood face to face, and he saw the black eyes of the Alpha filled with anger. He saw him angry beyond measure and regretted having spoken to him like that. Despite this, he maintained a strong gaze, not allowing himself to look submissive or intimidated by someone like him. He didn't like to appear inferior before anyone ever, so no matter what he looked like or how angry they appeared, he always held his head high.

"Really? So nothing will happen if I release my pheromones around you?" asked the Alpha with a smirk.

Eley swallowed hard yet kept standing firm, though part of him was terrified. He stepped back until his back hit something. The sudden calm that overcame him was overwhelming. The fear he had been experiencing had evaporated instantly, leaving no trace behind.

"Leave him alone," a voice spoke from behind him, and the uncontrollable urge to turn around and seek refuge in Lukyan almost overwhelmed him.

Both Alphas glared at each other for several seconds, neither willing to back down. Then, the other simply left.

Lukyan lowered his gaze to observe Eley and saw him with a lost look. He circled Eley's wrist to move him, and they stood face to face. Eley seemed nearly trembling, and Lukyan's hand carefully took his face, making him slowly raise his gaze. He saw his bright gray eyes filled with tears and felt his heart squeeze. They looked at each other for a few seconds, not quite understanding what was going through their minds. They just focused on each other as if nothing else existed around them.

"Eley, are you okay?"

Then, he reacted and stepped back two paces to breathe easily.

"Yes, I'm fine. I can defend myself very well alone."

"I never said you weren't capable, I just approached in case something happened," he replied with a smile.

Eley looked away and let out a sigh.

"Well, you shouldn't have stopped what you were doing to come over."

"I was doing nothing. I was looking at the movie posters when I saw you talking. What had he tried to do that you shouted you weren't an Omega?"

Eley looked at him attentively. He had approached earlier but had stopped upon realizing Eley did not need help. It was unusual to see Betas speak to Alphas that way. He knew their pheromones didn't affect him, but they couldn't stop a punch if it was meant to land. Despite this, he had seen Eley determined and with no intention of faltering, and he had liked that.

He didn't see Alphas as untouchable and hated when they took advantage of their power, but Eley seemed indifferent to all that.

"He tried to put his pheromones on me. I'm going to the bathroom."

Eley walked away quickly. He watched over his shoulder to see the Alphas still standing there and locked eyes with the one from before. Then, he just headed to the bathroom and leaned against the wall outside.

Eley stayed locked in almost twenty minutes. He sat in a stall trying to sort out his thoughts and the things he had felt. The fear that Alpha had caused him, but also the immediate peace that Lukyan had given him. There were too many things he had never experienced before.

When he came out, he saw Lukyan standing against the wall. He wanted to keep walking, but he heard him say his name.

"How about we watch a movie?"

And Eley felt unable to say no or make up an excuse. For a moment, he just wanted to be close to him as long as possible.

"Okay."

Lukyan gave him a smile, and they went to line up to buy tickets.

"I'm not a big fan of horror movies," Eley whispered.

"Oh, come on, you can shout at an Alpha but can't watch a horror movie? I'm disappointed."

"Well, horror movies are different."

"If it's not that scary, don't worry."

"Okay," he replied.

With their popcorn bought, they entered the theater slowly. There were many people, so they had to ask permission to reach the seats they had purchased. After some trailers of upcoming releases, which seemed interesting, the movie began.

Eley usually avoided them because they always scared him too much. His brothers had traumatised him when he was young, and he was terrified, but he had agreed just so that Lukyan wouldn't see that he was hiding something. He focused on eating lots of popcorn all the time and keeping his gaze down, avoiding watching what was happening, but the music didn't help at all because it only made the fear increase incessantly. He felt a chill down his spine and could almost sense the demon sitting behind him.

His body started to shake, and he swallowed with difficulty.

"Eley, are you okay? You're shaking a lot," Lukyan said, approaching to look at him.

"I'm fine, it's nothing. It's just that..."

The woman's scream on the big screen as she was captured pierced his ears, and he jumped. Popcorn flew into the air, landing on Lukyan's head mostly.

More than three people also screamed.

"I'm fine, just a little startled. Let's continue watching."

"But..."

"I'm fine, I've said."

Lukyan moved back to his seat but couldn't take his eyes off Eley, who avoided looking at the screen at all costs.

When another suspenseful scene occurred, including Eley, many screamed again, and he felt guilty. He thought he wasn't going to get so scared, but it was clearer now that he was more than scared. He sighed and moved closer to him.

"Hey, if you want, we can leave; I'm not enjoying it that much."

"Leave why? It's entertaining."

He realized Eley was stubborn because he was staying just to contradict and showed that he was not a coward. He watched his hands shake.

"Eley, let's go if you're shaking."

He vehemently denied it and remained seated.

When a woman was murdered in the movie, the few remaining popcorns flew again. Lukyan reached out to take his hand, and Eley gripped it tightly. In that moment, he turned to cling to him, shaking almost uncontrollably, and the Alpha froze. He ignored the fact that his head was full of popcorn just to focus on the redhead and hug him.

"I don't want to keep watching, Lukyan," he sobbed. "Let's go out; I don't want to see anymore."

When they went outside, he saw Lukyan wiping his cheeks from the tears. He sat down, and Lukyan knelt in front of him, looking at him with sadness.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think you could be so scared."

He lifted his hand and caressed his cheek gently, wiping away the tears and seeing him sad and still scared. And he couldn't resist. He came closer to wrap his body and hugged him. He felt Eley's small frame and inhaled deeply the sweet scent of his perfume. Eley hid his face in his neck and hugged him tightly. He felt how Lukyan caressed his back gently, and it felt good. It felt so good that it seemed impossible for a simple hug to make him feel so protected and special.

"Don't cry anymore, I'm sorry, okay?" he whispered in his ear.

When they pulled apart, he again cleaned his face slowly and gave him a smile.

"Come on, let's go get something sweet. I like seeing your smiling little face; you look much cuter."

Eley looked at him and felt his cheeks heat up.
