CALLA'S POV

I could hear alarm ringing and rushing I got off bed ...I don't normally get out of bed this fast I always turn around on the bed for minutes before getting up but today......today is different and, special because It's my birthday and I am going to confess my feelings to Derek...

I prepared myself had breakfast with my aunt and uncle but none of them seemed to remember it was my birthday.... anyways It doesn't bother me because didn't expect anything from them

I got into the bus and arrived at the University . Everyone looking at me could see just how happy I was....I stood there in front of the building looking forward to what was awaiting me.

Janice held my shoulder from behind. " seems our baby is very happy today..did aunty Jennie change the diapers ooooooor do I have to do it" she joked

" come on what with the diaper thing ...I'm not a baby anymore" I replied

" of course.... because someone is going to confess today" she said giving me an eye I could not understand " do you really have to do it ...you know it's a guy who should confess his feelings first" she added at last

" come-on Janice.... it's the twenty first century no one cares who confesses first these days....don't worry I'm ready with whatever comes next" I said slightly tapping her shoulder

" let's get going we might be late for classes" I shouted while going towards the entrance

I got into class but my mind was not in class at all...I couldn't wait untill break time when I get to have lunch with Derek together as we do most of the time.

As soon as the bell rang I got out with Janice following from behind I sat at our usual post and I couldn't stop myself from smiling when I saw Derek coming . His hands seemed to hold something that he hid on his back.

He approached the table and gave me a wide smile " happy birthday baby Calla" he said as he displayed a bouquet of flowers and a small box in front of me

" ooh woow thank you Derek...I didn't expect this from you, how did you know it was my birthday?" I said taking the gifts from him

" how can I not know... open the gift and see what's inside" he sat on his seat and watched me unwrapping the box

I was excited... in a moment I wished there was a ring inside and he would propose to me...but I guess I was hoping for much..it was a cute phone case with my initials on it. Even though it wasn't what I expected but I was happy because he did remember it was my birthday

" so tell me...do you like it?" he asked taking a sip from his cup

" like? oh Derek...I love it, I could say it's the best gift I have ever get" I said full of joy

DEREK'S POV

It makes me happy to see just how happy she's. she reminds me a lot of.....of her.

If only I could have protected her better I wouldn't have been in this state right now. That night if only I couldn't have let her go things would have been different for now.

Everyone says I bring bad luck to people around me...is it true ...is it why my parents died the moment I was born, my uncle got into an accident and is now crippled....and my girlfriend died two months after we started dating. I think I should keep myself far from Calla too because if anything bad happens to her I won't forgive myself

" are you okay, Derek? you seem far away" Calla finally asked after noticing I had zoomed out

" I'm fine... just thinking about some stuffs...I'm sorry I won't be able to have lunch with you today " I said while standing up. I realized it was time I had to distance myself from them

" where are you going Derek?" Calla asked. " i have some class work I need to take care and I am worried I won't be able to make it on time..." I said looking at Calla it was obvious she wanted me to stay longer but even though I wished I could I knew I had to leave

" ooh it's fine..but will you have time later on , I have something to tell you" she said as she stood up

what did she want to talk about? are my worst fears coming true? but whatever happens I have to end it today for everyone's sake

" I will tell you when I'm free so that you can tell me where we meet" I said softly

I left and went on with my normal schedule but my mind had a lot of questions, what did Calla have tell me

CALLA'S POV

I was with Janice that evening having snacks at our favorite place in the University. I was bragging about how Derek cares about me and he even remembered that it was my birthday and blah blah...that we'll make a good pair as lovers and many other fantasies

" your phone is ringing Calla" Janice told me as I was so busy day dreaming that I had no idea my phone was ringing

It was Derek he was free and he said I will meet him in the library

" good luck baby Calla...just hopping you won't come back heartbroken" Janice added

" thanks dear... no heart is going to be broken" I said will fixing my hair and clothes

I arrived at the library and saw Derek sitting on one of the tables. He waved at me and I went to where he was sitting

" how was your day?" Derek asked giving me a bottle of strawberry juice

" just fine...and beautiful as it should be" I said giving a wide smile

But then I noticed something different in Derek's eyes it's like there was something troubling him or Maybe I was overthinking

" so what is it that you want to talk about" he finally asked

" there is something I have to confess..." I said feeling shy..I tried not to look shy and afraid but I guess he could just see it through me

" confess..." he said looking at me closely
