Why Hope

The brothers sit in silence as their childhood friend and personal doctor, Zack Noellen, looks over a comatose Hope. They didn’t need to take Hope far after her suicide attempt. They had a fully functioning medical facility installed in the basement of their county mansion so there would be no need for Hope to leave the building for the entire duration of her pregnancy.

Zack had also moved in and was planing on staying until Hope delivered. He had personally given Hope a full checkup when she first arrived just a few hours before, giving her a clean bill of health, injecting her with futility drugs and vitamins, and also informing both brothers that’s their child’s mother to be, is still ******.

Hope’s background check showed no serous relationships so they knew it was a possibility. Knowing the mother of their child hasn’t been touched made both the brothers happy, though they didn’t really know why.

“It’s been less than three hours from the time I did her checkup and she is already in such a state. I told you two this was a dumb idea.” Zack grumbles while stitching Hopes wrists.

“Things didn’t go as planned,” Ethan says will looking at a pale and unmoving Hope. She looks nothing like the angry hell cat that struck his face just half an hour ago.

At the time her eyes were flashing with hate and her face was flush as she shouted that she can win over him and his twin. Their first encounter with their soon to be child’s mother was certainly interesting. He wasn’t even mad that she had struck him. Instead he was impressed, she was strong, a fighter, qualities that he hoped she would pass to her offspring. She really was perfect for their surrogate.

Ethan was born James Ethan Black. He was born 3 minutes befor his brother Jacob Keith Black and those three minutes made all the difference in the twins lives. The Blacks were a powerful and wealthy family who’s fortune and control of the company, World Corporation (Named from his great great grandfathers dream to ruler over the world), is always passed down to the first born son. Being born first meant he was the lucky one who would inherit all the spoils and from birth the twin named James was pampered while Jacob was left with the scraps.

Unbeknownst to anyone, he and James had been trading places since the age of five. No one new that the two brilliant twins had such a strong bond. So much so that James couldn’t stand to see his twin treated badly. At the age of five they both gave up on their first names switching every week on who would be James and who would be Jacob. Calling each other by their middle names in private.

But now the two were in their early 30s and needed to come up with a plan regarding who would inherit the throne after they retire. Now that they both share the throne, unbeknownst to anyone else, they couldn’t decide who’s child it would be. That’s when they came up with their idea of sharing a woman to birth one child. Being identical twins their DNA was the same. If they shared a woman at the same time, their would be no way of telling who the father was between the two of them. They would then share in the role of raising the child.

First they needed to find the right woman. Someone who they could manipulate into giving up her parental rights, who didn’t have family or friends who would stick their nose into the Black’s business. Finally, they wanted a strong healthy child with good genetics, especially since they weren’t going to be getting a good pedigree from the mother.

To find this person, they took over several blood bank organizations. They would secretly do genetic testing on any female who was within the ages of 18 to 35 who had passed all the background requirements.

Then one day Hopes file landed on their desk. She was genetically perfect. 25 years old. No abnormalities, no markers for diseases, and the genetic traits she did have showed her children will likely be strong, tall , with black hair and blue eyes, like ours. She also had markers for high intellect and strong immunity.

When Keith and I saw her photo we knew we had to have her. She was tall, thin, white skin, and black hair. She looked just like the fictional character Snow White but with sex appeal. We couldn’t have designed a more perfect woman and she was all alone in the world.

We figured she would be a pushover. She volunteered regularly at the orphanage she grew up in. She never left that orphanage until she aged out at eighteen and according to her file she had strong ties to the staff and kids. In addition she was a registered nurse in a retirement home and seemed to really love her work and every month she donated blood like clock work.

However we were so wrong about her. With all our power and influence, I was doubting if we really could get this little cat to comply with our plan. Looking over at Keith, I could tell he was thinking the same.

“Any woman who would just give up a kid for money to perfect strangers who had kidnapped her, is a terrible human being and if they’re a terrible human being then they don’t meet the requirements you’re looking for. So I’m not sure what you two dumb a**es expected. I know you’re ruthless in business but that’s business. To do what you had planned to this girl, you’re destroying her future family. Think about it. She’s an orphan. What did you think her reaction would be when two a**holes kidnap her and tell her she will be imprisoned, raped, and then her child stolen.” Zack continues to yell at the two. He had tried to talk his friends out of this idea when they first told it to him but they were stubborn in their decision. Zack only agreed to help with the thought of trying to help who e er they chose.

“Enough Zack!” Ethan barks. “Just tell us how she is.”

“Well not good. She’ll live but she lost a lot of blood. She’ll need time to recover.” Zack says, still fuming but not yelling anymore.

“How long?” Keith asks.

“At least a month. I’ll also need to monitor her mental health closely. This may have just been a knee jerk reaction but if it’s not then she could try again and we may not be so lucky.” Zack replies. In the that month I will find a way to help her. Zack thinks to himself.

“Alright, you can watch her until she recovers. She will stay in her room and will not leave it. Keith and I will visit her regularly.” Ethan turns to Keith. “Let’s go talk with Charles. I think we need to give our little kitty a new reason to appreciate life and to do as she’s told.” The twins smile at each other and exit the room.

Zack looks worried and vows again to do what he can to protect this girl.
