We all watched as he made his way over to
us. I took in his features. His dark brown hair
was curled to the side and fell in front of his
face. His eyes were a light brown and his style
didn't even seem to change one bit. He had
on a white t-shirt which showed his muscles
along with his tattoos. He had a piercing on
his ear which was a black stud earring.
Godric was my childhood friend and the only
friend who knew everything about me and
my brothers. We planned to start our own
business one day but then he just vanished
without a word or trace.
"Surprise!" He smiled as he stood in front of
me. I stood there not knowing how to respond.
He opened his mouth to say something and
was cut off by Henry's voice that came out of
the walkie-talkie "Sky! We have a problem.
Franky is now in the classroom with Darren
and he's armed. It's only him. All his guys are
down."
I started running back to the classroom
with the guys behind me. We all barged in
the classroom and Franky had his left arm
wrapped around Darren's neck while the right
hand was aiming a pistol at his head.
"Put your weapons down or the kid dies,"
Franky spat across the room.
I looked around to see all the students and Ms.
Gena in the back of the classroom. I turned
back to Franky then let outa sigh. I slowly
lowered my gun to the ground and the guys
followed along.
Franky smirks at his success then waved the
gun towards us. "Kick it to me."
Since his gun was off Darren, I took the
opportunity to take my pistol out and pull the
trigger along when he pulled his trigger. The
gunshot was covered by screams that came
from some of the students. Franky slowly
dropped to the floor and the classroom was
filled with silence from the shocked students. I
called Henry in and told him what happened.
I was thanked by Darren for saving his life
and by Ms. Gena. She gave me a huge hug and
also shed some tears.
Henry's men came in moments later and
took Darren to who knows where and also
took Franky's lifeless body away. I looked for
where his bulleted landed. Turns out, he shot
the wall next to me missing me by 1 foot.
My brothers did a little celebration cheer at
our success in the mission as we were packing
up our stuff. James walked up to me and
gave me a smirk. "Still got it in you," he said
wiggling his eyebrows.
"Ha. Of course, I do," I grinned.
"Hey," I hear a soft voice behind me. I turned
around to see Godric with a smile. I forgot he
was back. To be honest, you would too if the
only person you trusted and were best friends
with was gone for almost 12 years now.
"Why did you come back?" I asked bluntly,
causing his smile to fade. The room got quiet
all of a sudden as my tone changed. Godric
stands there in complete shock.
What?! Did he honestly expect me to just be
happy and jump into his arms? He left me for
12 years. After my parents died, he left and I
had no one excepting my brothers. Did it never
occur to him that he could've called or sent a
text?
I delivered him a punch to the face causing
him to stumble back a little. "I probably
deserve that," he groaned in pain as he
rubbed his nose.
I started to disarm myself and put everything
back in the bag. "Come on! You can't be mad at
me," he spoke trying to reason with me.
I put on my plaid shirt and turned to him.
"You left me for 12 fucking years. You never
called or tried to contact me. Did you expect
me to leap into your arms?" I spat in disbelief.
His eyes darkened and I could see that he
tensed up. "I have been through hell these
past 12 years and I'm even lucky to be alive
right no," he shouted.
"Oh, yeah? What about keeping in contact. Not
even one damn phone call."
He let out an annoyed groan. "I was trying to
protect you."
"You sure did a shitty job at it," I mumbled
thinking about Cindy and Jerry. I brushed it
off and headed for the door.
"Skylar wait," Godric yelled, but I ignored
him and left through the gym which led me
outside. I saw Henry and his guys talking
before they split up into different BMWs.
"Can I have a ride?" I asked Henry and he
nodded.
During the ride, Henry allowed me to rant
about what just happened. He knew Godric
from when I was small. It is one out of many
things I like about Henry. He would sit there
and allow me to rant for God knows how long.
"I actually agree with you," he implied as we
stopped at a traffic light.
"I know! How can you expect me to be all nice
and shit when you just left for 12 years and
never even made contact with me. For all I
care, he could spend another 12 years gone," II
admitted and that was the truth.
I was mad. Matter of fact, I was beyond mad. I
was so mad not even my favorite type of food
could cheer me up. That's when you know
shit's real.
"We're here," Henry said, pulling up to the
mansion gates that were black. I thanked him
and got out. As he drove off I walked through
the now opened gate and made my way to the
entrance.
My mansion looked like a place where
the Greek Gods and Goddess would live.
Everything was so Vivid and beautiiul. This
was home.
I walked around the fountain that was in
the drive-thru and made my way up to the
light brown door. I scanned my hand on the
pad and watched as the screen turned green
and it recognised my fingerprint. Click. The
door was now open. I removed my hand
and walked in making sure to shut the door
behind me.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, I walked over
to the bar that was a few feet in front of me.
I took a bottle of Hennessy and poured some
in a glass with ice. I placed my phone on the
counter and took a seat on the stool.
What sucks about alcohol is that it doesn't
do anything to me right away. I could drink
out a whole bottle and still be able to walk
and drive. I'm still aware of everything that
is happening. In order for me to get drunk,
I would have to consume about 6 bottles
of Hennessy. My powers make my alcohol
tolerance very high. However, I could speed
up the process by adding vodka but I get the
worst hangover you can ever have. I silently
drank out the alcohol in my cup and served
myself a second round.
I heard the door click and knew the guys had
reached home. As they entered, I could hear
different types of conversations going on but
couldn't make out what they were saying. It
just sounds like a bunch of bees.
"Sky," someone called and I turned around to
see the prick inside my house.
I got up and drank out the remains in my cup
in one shot. It burned but my anger burned
more. I shoved my glass in Ethan's hand and
kept wallking to Godric. I placed my hand over
his chest and pushed him back till he was out
the door.
He frowned for a second and opened his
mouth. "Sky-"
I slammed the door on him before he could
finish. I walked back to the bar and on my
way, I grabbed my cup from Ethan's hand. I
refilled my cup but this time I made sure it
was full. I turned around to see some of the
guys talking and some on their phones with a
beer in their hands.
"To us. The best family I could ever ask for," I
said holding up my glass.
They cheered like maniac's and then the door
opened again. It became quiet and I glared at
Godric.
"What part of the door slamming in your
face do you not understand?" I groaned in
frustration. I turned to Randy who was 8 feet
away from me.
"Remind me to delete his handprint on the
house," I spoke and he nodded.
"Would you just hear me out?" he exclaimed.
Before I could reply, James butt in. "Dude
just leave. If she doesn't want you here then
there's no point. You have to see things from
her point of view."
Godric made a tight fist to the point where
you could see the white in his knuckles. "NO!"
he growled and I stood there in shock. I wasn't
scared or anything but his growl. It didn't
sound like a human growl. It sent chills down
my spine.
"I know your dumbass is not talking to me."
James grinned through his teeth.
Godric was about to make a move but I butt
in. "I swear if you lay a hand on James, I will
personally kick your *** to the point where
you can't even sit," I threatened.
Godric looks at me and then at James. He
released a sigh of defeat and slowly put his
hand down before walking down the hallway.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?!" I
yelled but stood in my spot.
"To get water," he shouted back. I looked up at
the ceiling and let out a heavy sigh.
I walked over to James who was feet away
from the closed door. "You okay?" I asked then
sipped on my drink.
He nodded. "He's so different now," he
mumbled and I couldn't agree more.
Ding Dong.
"I got it," I smiled at James who returned the
smile then started making his way to the bar.
I turned on my heels and opened the door. A
guy about 6 feet and something inches were
standing there. He had brown hair and a
body worth drooling over. His shirt was fitted
so you could see his abs. Both his arms were
filled with tattoos. This dude most likely had
his whole upper body filled with tattoos since
you could see his neck covered in it. His smile
was gentle and warm. I realised I was being a
creep and gave a small smile.
"How may I help you?" I softly spoke.
"Well, my car kind of shut down and I can't
call anyone because my phone died. May I
use a phone or something to call someone,"
he spoke with a deep voice yet it came out so
angelic.
"Of course, come on in," I smiled, opening
the door wider for him. He thanked me and
stepped inside the lobby.
"Who's that?" Mason asked nodding to the
guy.
"My name is Lucifer," he smiled introducing
himself. The room got quiet for a brief
moment at his name.
"You're serious?" Justin asked, breaking the
silence.
Lucifer smirked, "Dead serious."
"Yo, that's dope as ****," Randy shouted
across the room.
"Thanks," Lucifer grinned.
I shook my head and remembered his reason
for being here.
"Ohh phone. Sorry." I apologized as I walked
over to the counter for my phone. As I was
heading back over to him, I unlocked my
phone before passing it to him.
While he was dialing the number, it suddenly
hit me. "Quick question. How did you get to
the door?" I was a bit concerned.
In order to get to the front door, you need
to get past the front gates which require a
fingerprint, car recognition scan, or pin. If you
have none of those, then you'd simple buzz in
and someone would let you through.
"Your gate was opened," he spoke as he smiled
at me before looking back down at my phone.
I rolled my eyes. "Gabe needs to learn how to
close the gate," I sighed. He's the only one who
forgets to close the front gate.
I looked around to see the guys mingling
amongst themselves.
"How long does it take that fucker to get
a glass of water," I mumbled referring to
Godric.
Gabe then walked into the lobby with an
annoyed look on his face, "The dumbass is
trying to calm himself down. Don't see why he
has a reason to be mad when it should be you
who is mad," he informed me.
"Dude you need to remember to close the gate
every time you come in," Richie reminded him
before hitting him upside the head.
"Oww! What the **** Rich! I did close it,"
Gabe spoke rubbing the back of his head.
I was about to say something but dipshit
walked back in. "I'm back," he chirped, not
taking his eyes off the phone in his right hand
while a glass of water in his left.
"Bummer," I mumbled.
I turned around to look at Lucifer who no
longer had my phone in his hand. He was
full-on glaring at Godric.
"Uhh, where's my phone?" I asked, looking at
both of his empty hands.
I then heard something shatter. The room
got silent again and I turned to see where the
noise came from. Godric had dropped the cup
of water causing the glass to shatter. His face
was drained of emotions as if he had seen a
ghost.
"Did you really think you could run?" a deep
voice behind me chuckled addressing Godric.
"What?" I muffled out in confusion.
Godric opened his mouth to speak but
stuttered. "I-I thought I lost you," his voice
shook with fear. It was weird, I never saw
Godric like this before.
"You are probably the stupidest Demon ever,"
Lucifer chuckled deeper.
"You're a what!?!" I yelled trying to process
what was happening in front of me.
Godric sighed then looked at me, "A Demon."
I paused for a moment and started to walk
over to James but a hand grabbed my wrist
and pulled me back. It was Lucifer. His grip
tightened around my wrist as I was next to
him. I tried to get out of his grip but somehow
he was really strong. I tried to use my powers
but nothing was happening. All my guys had
their backup pistols pointing to Lucifer.
"I would stop trying if I was you. I'm immune
to your powers," Lucifer informed me as he
glared at me.
After a while I stopped, then it hit me. "What
does all this have to do with me or my guys?
I mean if you're after Godric, he's right there.
You can have him," I spoke.
"You want to tell her or should I?" Lucifer
asked Godric who was still shocked. "I guess
I will. He was going to kill you and take your
powers just so he can be more powerful than
me," Lucifer explained.
I slouched in his arm as I was looking at
Godric hoping to see if it was a lie. Nothing.
His eyes didn't have any emotions towards
Lucifer's explanation.
"It could've worked if you hadn't shown up,"
Godric spat.
My guys turned to Godric and fired but he
disappeared. So much for having a childhood
with that piece of shit. He should have died
during that 12 years. I didn't realize my name
was being called until Lucifer turned me
around so we were face to face.
"You okay?" he asked.
I just nodded and turned around. I started
running up the stairs and knew tears were
streaming down my face. Someone grabbed
my hand and pulled me down into their
chest. I burst out crying through their chest.
Everything bottled up was now coming back
to me. The person's arm wrapped around me
and rubbed my back.
"It's going to be alright. We're not going to let
anything happen to you. Don't cry," James
spoke soothing words to me.
He held me as I cried continuously. Everything
kept replaying in my head like a movie and
I felt more overwhelmed than ever. Out of
everything that has happened to me, this is
the one thing that broke me.
