Chapter 3

Third Person's Point Of View

"Here's our stop"

Alessa hopped off Zephyr. What stands before them are a bunch of dead trees.

"Are you sure that this is it? Last time I checked there is nothing enchanting about dead trees"

Alessa rolled her eyes at Eudon's comment.

"Haven't you heard of the phrase don't judge a forest by it's trees?"

"It's don't judge a book by it's cover you idiot"

"Who are ya calling an idiot?!"

"Kee-eeeee-arr!"

"You're right Zephyr, we don't have time to waste on this idiot"

"Stop talking to him like you're already close!"

"Oh right, speaking of Zephyr..." Alessa took a step back then snapped her fingers. as soon as she does Zephyr turned from being a giant hawk into a small hawk then stayed on Alessa's shoulder.

"Zephyr can change his size so that he will adapt to his environment, no need to be surprised, Zephyr is a guardian animal after all"

"I'm not surprised. You should be able to at least do small things like this"

"Hey your mouth is really rude ya know?!"

"You started it"

The two soon grew silent as they stared at the entrance of the forest.

"I'm not one to speak, but there is nothing enchanting at this forest at all" said Eudon.

His words are not lies at all. When someone mentions something about being enchanted people usually thinks of something magical and gorgeous. Yet the appearance of the forest possess none of those.

They were met with tall trees with woods that seemed to be burnt. Leaves dark as the night sky. The grasses was tall yet had an almost black color. The inside of the forest can not be seen and they are only met with darkness. No animal were in sight and the only sound that can be heard is from the flowing wind. The aura of the forest also possess something that can make anyone shiver.

In the trees closest to them were ropes and talismans tied to it. These also were burned and only a bit of the material remained.

"It may not look enchanting at all but trust me, this is the place you said you wanted to go" Alessa stepped closer and held the burnt ropes that seems to be restricting them to enter.

"These restraints doesn't seem to very effective" Eudon went to Alessa side. He tried to search for remnants of magic in the ropes but there were no traces at all. Even to him whose an imperial sorcerer, it's nothing but a normal burnt rope.

"This won't stop anyone from entering the forest" Eudon let goes of the rope yet Alessa still has her hands on them.

"Because it was never meant to prevent people from entering" Alessa took the knife that was strapped in her leg and cut her palm. With blood oozing from her palm she grabbed the rope then looked at Eudon. She then extended her other hand to him.

"It was to prevent something from leaving" Eudon took her hand and a light surrounded them.

When the light disappeared they were surrounded by a different scenery. From the dead forest before suddenly turned into a green forest with tall trees. The grasses was short and flowers can be seen around. There was also a stream nearby and Eudon even saw little animals and birds around.

"Where are we?"

"Inside the forest. Teleportation is one of my clan's specialty. Although in only works teleporting someone from outside to inside and vice versa. If we went with the normal path it will take us forever to enter"

"And why is that?"

"As you can see the one way to enter is to ho through that dead part of the forest. If we were to walk through there the forest will shift and it will become a maze. That's probably the only thing that part of the forest is enchanted about. The other way is what we just did. Although the only way to use this path is to use our clan's blood" Alessa smiled at him then showed her bleeding palm. Eudon suddenly snatched her palm.

"Hey what are you doing?!"

"Stay still"

Eudon put his hand over her palm and a light appeared. Alessa's wound slowly closes until there was no sign of her palm being cut. Alessa then stared at him with awe. It almost looks like she has stars in her eyes.

"It's no big deal, even a beginner can do this much"

"Wahh magic's so cool!"

"You can use magic too can't you?"

"The only thing closest to magic I can do is the teleportation that I just did"

"What a shame"

"Hey even if I can't use magic I'm still very strong you know!"

"Yeah yeah whatever"

Suddenly Alessa staggered and she held her head. Noticing this, Eudon assisted her on sitting, leaning by a nearby tree. Alessa then nodded her head as thanks. Eudon then sat next to her.

"You ok?"

"I'm fine. Doing this just take a toll on my body"

"Then let's take a short rest"

Eudon places his hand in Alessa's head and he released a small amount of magic. Alessa's dizziness slowly disappeared.

"Hey if you can do things like this why not cure your queen yourself?"

"If I can then I wouldn't be searching for the cursed woman"

"Hmm, true"

Alessa slowly fell asleep. Eudon took her head and leaned it on his shoulders. Eudon looked at the dark sky as his eyelids began to grew heavy and soon fell asleep.

Deep within the forest, a woman with long and straight hair suddenly felt alarm. She immediately stood up and released her aura. Her aura spread throughout the entire forest and caused a small disturbance. Then she felt it. It confirmed all her suspicions.

"No way, did someone successfully entered?"
