Congratulations

"Expelled?! Me?! W-Wait…Why, Mrs. Eli?! Do I have so many late that I'll be expelled now? Maybe we can do something about it, Ma'am, but not like this, plea---," She laughed that made me frown. Is this so funny for her? I mean, I still have a dream. I need a certificate so that I can find a better job. I need to raise my family!

"Woah, woah, woah, Ms. Hart. Calm down, don't panic. Please be seated for now."

And now, she's telling me to 'don't panic'? How can I even calm down in this kind of situation? Who wouldn't panic if they're about to be expelled in the school they're studying. There is no other school around here. If there is, it is in the other cities and I don't have enough money to use bus as my transportation because it might take 5,000 pesos just for a week. Expulsion? Oh gosh! For Pete's sake, why am I even late everyday, anyway?

She stood up and walk towards the cabinet. She got something there and came back on her swivel chair. It is a document. Is that a proof saying that I am always late? Is it my records? Oh my, goodness!

She handed me the documents. "Open it."

I hesitated at first but then I opened the documents with my trembling hands.

There is a color maroon envelope in there. I frowned because I think I already saw it somewhere before. When I got it, I almost fell off my chair. My eyes widened and looked at Mrs. Elizabeth if this is serious. But she just laughed.

I opened the envelope to make sure.

Lunaris Academia,

I hereby proclaim that Ms. Esmeralda Hart, from Hierarchy Academy, as a legal transferee of Lunaris Academia due to her excellent academic performance.

Chairperson of Transferee Committee,

Jude Fernando

"And congratulations, Ms. Hart. You will be expelled from this school because you will start your journey in Lunaris Academia."

My heart beats faster, I stared at the paper for a little while. I can't process everything, right now. I mean, are they joking? My eyes became teary.

"Mrs. Eli, if this is a joke, it's not f-funny." I looked away because I think I would cry over this. "It's my dream to study there but, Ma'am, we can't afford this. We're just average people. We can---," she cut me off.

"Everything is free, Ms. Hart. You're a transferee. They have seen an amazing talent within you that they considered you as an official student of the Academia. Don't worry about finances. You are so lucky." She smiled but I looked at the paper again.

I sighed and faked a smile. "I don't think I can go, Mrs. Eli."

An amused smirk crossed the principal's face. "If you're worrying about your Mother's approval, then you don't have to worry. She already knows about it. We already talked to her yesterday and she agreed."

My eyes widened because of what she said. "Really?!" I exclaimed. "I mean, I didn't expect that." My tears started to fell.

She smiled at me genuinely. "This will be my advice for you. Don't ever trust anyone, Esmee. Even the closest friends you have might betray you. Please, be careful on your stay there, That's all."
