Here we are.” After handing everyone their miniature sandwiches and their drinks, she sat across from me. I took a nibble of the food and it made my stomach howl once again, begging for more food to feed off of. And even if I were to not be hungry, I would still be eating anyhow due to my taste buds loving them. I then looked up from my food to see Mrs. Johnson happily watching me eat the sandwiches. “They’re yummy, aren’t they?” She commented.
I nodded in agreement. “Glad to hear it! Though, if you don’t mind answering this the right way without lying, could you tell us what happened, please?” She somehow was able to read my mind, as if she was there when it happened. Why is she being so kind to me and not like Mr. Johnson? “We won’t judge you by your past dear, don’t worry.” And her words comforted me. Does she really mean it? I guess I should tell what my past story holds to be heard. I took a deep breath. “I’m an orphan,” I said with a sigh. “Four months ago, it was my birthday. Sweet sixteen as a matter of fact. Terrible day it was, and I never want to relive it again.” “What happened?” She asked with worries in her eyes.
“M-my p-parents,” I couldn’t pull myself together as I was trying to use the cruel words that haunted me for life. “There was a fire a-and I-I couldn’t save them.” Tears poured down my face and felt like I admitted defeat to my broken heart when I don’t know if I already had a long time ago. I clutched my hand to my chest as a sharp pain went right through me. What was there to say about me? I don’t know if I want to hear it or not as it may make me feel worse about life itself. I then felt a hand on my right shoulder and looked up at Mr. Johnson. “You can stay with my wife and I until we find a proper home for you.” He said with a little kindness that finally was poking through his heart. He then looked at his wife. “Do you not mind, Martha, taking her to the bedroom she’ll be staying in?” She nodded, sat up, and came to my side. So, I got up as well and followed her to what was going to be my bedroom.
Opening the doors to my bedroom, it was as if I was a princess walking into a mini ballroom that was her bedroom. The bed’s huge and has a breathtaking view from the tall glass windows that could probably show the best of sunsets. It even had silk white curtains to it plus a small balcony. Also, within the bedroom, I had my very own miniature walk-in closet and my own small-sized bathroom. Yet, there is an odd atmosphere within this bedroom, almost as if there was someone lurking about from me being here but cannot see them. “So, what do you think, Clarisse?” She asked. I walked to the royal sized bed and sat at the end of the fuzzy creamed color blanket. “It’s gorgeous!” I exclaimed in awe.
As I was starting to feel a little at home for once, I heard voices I didn’t recognize. “Who all is here?” I asked her. Mrs. Johnson chuckled from my big-minded curiosity. “Looks like you’re going to have another adventure. And you’re probably going to have many questions along the way” She smiled that seemed to go on endless miles of happiness. Another adventure? What did she know that I didn’t? “Why don’t I introduce you to our entire family to get to know them better.” I followed her back down the stairs and into the entryway. The voices from the distance buzzed all about how their day went.
“The stores had some amazing clothes for me!” A sassy blond girl giggled, swaying her lacy baby-blue dress side to side.
“Well, you should’ve seen Grandpa and me at the science fair!” A boy said proudly of what he and his grandfather had done, tightening his loose tie.
“What about my spelling bee?” A geeky boy had asked as he adjusted his glasses.
“Would you guys stop and think about helping Ella with the groceries!?”A little girl ferociously told the other three, as she re-tied her blonde hair back into a ponytail.
“Your sister is right.” An older man exclaimed, agreeing with the little girl.
“Si, I would appreciate the help!” A Mexican woman happily said holding the grocery bags, appreciating the offered help she was given.
Entering the entryway, I froze and hid from view to examine them. Most of them are kids as three other people are adults; one of them didn't even say a word in fact. My suspicion is that he's a butler due to him looking so neat and tidy, plus, taking the shopping bags from the sassy girl. “Hello, Mom!” The four children cheerfully greeted their mother when noticing her. “Hello, my darlings!” She greeted in return, giving them hugs and for the little girl, a kiss on the forehead. “We have a guest staying with us I would like to introduce you to.” Mrs. Johnson looks my way with a gentle and kind smile. “Come, my dear, they won’t bite you.” Her soothing voice called out.
I came out of the open and walked up to her side. “Come, my dear, they won’t bite you.” Her soothing voice called out. I came out of the open and walked up to her side. “Children, I would like to introduce you to Clarisse. She would be staying with us until we find her a proper home to stay in.” The little girl walked up to me and held out her hand. “My name is Rachel,” she greeted me with a welcoming smile. “Let me tell you who else everyone is here,” Rachel told me all of their personalities while introducing me to them. The sassy girl is Valentina. Seventeen years old and is obsessed with fashion and donates the clothes she creates to the people in need. I guess she is good after all even though she is sassy.
The grandpa is Mark Fredrick, a scientist and the father of Mrs. Johnson, also known as to him and Mr.Johnson, Martha. Braden, he is the scientist son of the family that works alongside Mark. He is eighteen years old and also loves to read books and solve mysteries. Tom and Ella are the people that work for them and are like a part of the family. Nathan is the geek boy. He’s twelve years old, is a straight-A student and puts his dedication and time to study during the summer to be prepared for school. Honestly, for him being so geeky, it's not a shocker he is a straight-A student.
