Grief? and Agreements

"I haven't seen her cry, at. How are you so sure that her parents are dead?" James says for he still doesn't trust Koa.

"Stop it James. You as well as anyone should know that grief has its stages. Maybe she hasn't come to terms to the facts maybe she thinks they're still alive. They made it somehow. Don't judge her" Matilda says.

Little did they know that Koa was listening to them for her shared room with Kim. James exits the house slamming the door on the way out.

James and his wolf decide to head into the forest to try to call down not knowing that Chris is following him. He ends up by the pack pond and takes a seat.

'I need to get rid of her' he thinks and blocks out his wolf not caring what he thinks.

"James" Chris says causing him to spin around to face the man behind him.

"What do you want, Chris?" he asks body tense in case he has to defend himself.

"No need to get all defensive, son" he says accompanied by an eyeroll.

"What do you want?" he asks.

"Koa." he says not breaking eye contact with James.

"Good luck with that. You won't be able to get close to her with Matilda and the others around" James says matter of factly.

"That's where you come in. Alpha doesn't want her here, has a bad feeling about her" Chris says.

"What does that have to do with me?" James asks even though he already knows the answer.

"You don't like her to the extent people think it's hate" Chris says smirking when James lowers his eyes to the floor.

"You want to sell her to the dark net" James says finally putting the pieces together.

"Look at that, at least you have some smarts." Chris says chuckling.

"Why would I help you? She's just a child" he says looking Chris in the eyes.

"Yet you want her gone. Let me put it this way, give me Koa and you wouldn't have to struggle to eat scraps ever again. I'm sure Alpha David can find a position for you" Chris says as he turns on his heel heading the way he came.

"What if I don't?" James asks.

"You can say goodbye to your family especially Kim" says Chris throwing the response over his shoulder. Leaving James alone to make a big decision.

'If I give them Koa my family will probably hate me but if I don't they die. Why am I feeling sorry for that little wench she deserves being sold to the dark net' he thinks but still feels unsure and a little guilty.

'No. I can't afford to feel guilty. Kim and the others are my family. Not Koa and she will never be' he thinks as he makes his way back home his decision final.

By the time he arrived home, everyone is already asleep so he goes straight to bed preparing to Chris his answer in the morning.
