Candice Lin sat in the co-pilot seat, she only wanted to go home as soon as possible. Asher Huo, sat in the driver seat, he had started the engine, but he hadn’t stepped on the accelerate pedal.

When he was with another women, he always had his driver with him to drive the car. Tonight, it was different. He deliberately asked his driver to go home after sending Laura Bai home.

Candice Lin looked at the man next to her, she was annoyed. “Mr. Huo, are we going to stay in the car for the entire night?”

“I wish.” Asher Huo gave a short reply, he stared straight at her.

Candice Lin truthfully didn’t know about that.

Firstly, he knew about the Wus influence behind her difficulties in applying those jobs and the fact that he could nulify it, was impressive. But... No, it had nothing to do with Asher Huo! She couldn’t implicate others to her problem.

Secondly, she thought, her mother didn’t know about it, she didn’t want her to worry about her. On the contrary, it seemed she deeply troubled her. She remembered, it was around the time, when her mother was probably had been diagnosed with brain tumor. She experienced some minor symptoms, yet still tried to hide it. She refused to check herself up since then. It turned out, not because she was afraid, but because it costed so much money to have the treatments and she rather used her money to save her daughter’s future.

The image of her mother who had been in vegetative state passed through her mind. It felt like an unseen black hand squeezed Candice Lin’s heart. Her palm clenched together on her lap. Her eyes became hot and moist, but, she held her tears from falling as much as she could.

Wait! It was not the time to regret the past!

Like a bucket of water had been poured on her, she gained her sense, that she was with Asher Huo, the man who she had met just yesterday.

Wasn’t it strange, regarding how well he knew about her?

Judging by his social status.... “Mr. Huo, did you run a background check on me?” Candice Lin regarded him violating her privacy as her tone sounded serious.

He smirked, “I just want to know your name since you haven’t told me about it, but my assistant informed me a little too detail.”

She wasn’t sure he was being honest. She didn’t want to drag it further, though.

From her expression, Candice Lin looked displeased, she kept her face facing the side window silently.

“Regarding your problems, I can help you.” Asher Huo firmly spoke his intension, he was being serious.

Even though he could just doing so, he didn’t want her to think that he rudely meddled in her things. After all, they just met yesterday. So, he used a wiser approach.

“Don’t be troubled! I can handle my problems by myself!” Candice Lin flatly turned down his offer.

Asher Huo had expected her refusal. He quickly learnt one or two things about her. Whatever she coldly said, he didn’t take it to heart.

“Well... you can call me if you change your mind. By the way, we should exchange our numbers.” Asher Huo took his phone.

Candice Lin was reluctant but then, she got no choice as he had saved her earlier and she commited to repay him somehow.

Asher Huo was indeed witty, he wasn’t only get her number but also her e-mail, chat ID, and even her social media. Certainly, he checked at once that she wasn’t give him fake informations.

When they arrived at the remoted old building, Candice Lin rushed to gof off from the car as she thanked him.

No matter how well he treated her tonight, her bad impression towards him hadn’t changed. Rich people had a lot of tricks in their sleeves. Not to forget, that he must have been very skillful in saying sweet nothing to women.

In the car, Asher Huo could imagine how tough her life was, seeing her living environment. He really wanted to get her out of here, she deserved better.

Opening his eyes from his deep slumber, Asher Huo looked at the clock on his end table.

It was another day for him to have the dream of the merchant, who had his appearance, and the princess, who resembled Candice Lin. The difference was only the scene they were in. It was usually the scene when they were seperated, but today, for the first time, it was a peaceful moment they had, presumably before the got caught.

Asher Huo suspected that he thought too much about the relation of the princess appearance in the dream and Candice Lin, whom he met after that same repeated dreams, which led him to have another kind of this ancient couples dream.

That was so strange! He felt he really needed to talk to someone about his exceptional dream.

He slept again for another hour before he had himself ready for the day.

In the afternoon, Candice Lin had herself promoting the product on the side of the lively district for hours. She was tired and thirsty that she took a 10 minutes break on the nearest bench.

She gulped the water down until it left the bottle empty in no time, when someone greeted her.

“Aunty Ye?” Candice Lin recognized the lady in her late 40’s immediately. ”It’s been a long time! What brings you here? Isn’t it difficult to going out during your working day?”

Aunty Ye had been working as the most trusted maid in a conglomerate’s villa for years. She was honest, kind, and friendly. She was undoubtedly a marvelous cook and definitely a skillful home assistant.

“Today, master gave me permission as soon as he found out my phone had not function well. He even asked me to buy a new one. Maybe, he is in a good mood.” Aunt Ye cheerfully told her.

“That’s great, Aunty Ye!” Candice Lin felt happy for her too.

Both of them had been friends for a long time, but hadn’t seen each other for the past 3 years. Candice Lin and her mother used to live in the same apartment as Aunty Ye. Candice Lin often helped her to carry her groceries, while Aunty Ye frequently invited the mother and daughter for dinner to her house whenever she was on her holiday.

“By the way, how was your mother?” Aunty Ye asked as she hadn’t hear from her at all.

Candice Lin expression changed, then she smiled bitterly, “She has been unconscious in the hospital for quite some time, brain tumor...”

Aunty Ye was shocked as her eyes widened. She never heard them mention about it before even when they were occasionally still in contact via phone. It must have been hard on Candice Lin. “I hope your mom can recover soon. Be strong, child!”

Candice Lin simply nodded. “Aunty Ye, did you still frequently visit your son?”

Candice Lin never met Aunty Ye’s son, but at times, Aunty Ye would talk about him. Her son lived and married in another city.

Aunty Ye sighed. “I haven’t visit him this whole 1 year. The day before yesterday, he called me, telling me that his wife is going to give birth very soon. I can’t wait to see and take care of my grandchild! However, I don’t think master would give me a long day offs....”

Candice Lin held Aunty Ye’s hand. “You never know when you haven’t tried to ask your master.”

“You’re right... if I’m away, who will take care of....” Aunty Ye paused as her eyes suddenly shone. “Candice, are you in for a full time job?”

Candice Lin quickly said, “Of course. My current two jobs will end in a few days, anyway.”

“Then, do me a favor!” Aunty Ye looked excited. “Be my substitute for 3 months, I can guarantee the salary is far higher than most of the jobs you did. You also got a place to live as you will stay there, completed with free meals, except when you have a day off, you can choose to go to your place. I’ll feel better to ask for a long holiday, if I have a substitute like you.”

Candice Lin think about the offer for a while. She did need a place to stay and a good sum of money and she hadn’t found any other options. “Aunty Ye, I think I accept your offer, you can message me if your master agreed. About your master...”

Aunty Ye was so glad to hear it. “Don’t worry, even though master is perfectionist and quite strict about his rules, he is actually a good person.”

Candice Lin was slightly relieved.

“I will let you know very soon, Candice.” Aunt Ye smiled warmly.

In a blink of eyes, break time had ended, Candice Lin had to leave Aunty Ye. Aunty Ye understood her situation, she also had to go back to the villa.

Deep in her mind, Asher Huo sensed there was something he needed to understand through that dream, still. He just wished the psychiatrist, Andrew Yan suggested him to, would help him reveal the reason he kept having the dreams.
