Chapter—3

Braiding my hair and coiling it around my horn buns was the last thing I did early in the morning before walking out of my room and towards the school's backyard, the prestigious Vitherine academy wasn't just known for the academic part alone, but also for it's beauty, but what most of them didn't pay much attention to, was the backyard and the beautiful pond with lotuses in it, I had stumbled upon it one day while looking for a good place to sit down and write my essay.

Good thing this place was still undiscovered, peaceful and quiet. I liked it.

I sat down at the edge of the wooden porch, taking off my shoes and submerging my legs in the cold water feeling the sharp, cold numbness of if against my warm skin, although it was around the end of winters and the days were getting hotter, the mornings were still cold.

I looked up at the cloudy sky, it would probably rain today, which was... Unusual to say the least... It never rained during this time of the year…

Suddenly, I heard the crunch of leaves beneath steps, someone was coming, it couldn't be a student considering there's only five minutes left before the classes would begin.

But before I could turn around, I felt a sharp, raw pain on my ribs as I fell inside the lake with a loud splash. The world jerked sideways as I tried to get out, but another brutal shove on my chest prevented me from doing so. Water filled my lungs as I tried to grasp for the light, but out of reflex, or instinct, I stopped trying to breathe in order to prevent more water from entering my body, it was cold and freezing, but my lungs felt like they had been set on fire. And I couldn't take it anymore, I stopped trying to grasp for air, my vision was blurry.

A shadow of dark hair and the sound of metal clanking against the wood of the porch was the last thing I heard before my vision blacked out completely.

...----------------...

I woke up with a throbbing pain in my head, my vision was still a bit blurry and my lungs still hurt, and the burning felt even worse than when I was actually drowning.

My legs were covered with a white blanket, I was in the nurse's office then... Before I could take a look around my surroundings, the door opened and a nurse entered the room, closing the door behind her. She was clad in a classic white nurse's uniform. She was pretty to say the least…

"Ah—! You're awake...? That's good…" She said in a nervous voice... I suppose I would've looked scary with my pale body and disheveled hair, huh?

"Who brought me here miss?" I asked, curiosity taking over.

"It was William... William Davies…"

William Davies...? That's Prince Felix's friend....

Prince Felix has a close-knit group of friends, and William Davies , the red haired Polish guy, is one of them, he's the closest to prince Felix.... Why did he save me...?

Still confused for the why, I felt like my legs were still numb, so I tried to stand up, but the sharp pain on my ribs stopped me.

"Ow.... Why does it hurt so much…?" I asked.

"Well... You have been hit by a hard object, luckily, no ribs were broken, but it might still hurt... So please refrain yourself from physical activities for at least a few days..." She explained, fidgeting with the writing pad in her hands.

"I see.... Thank you, Miss...." I said as I laid back down on the bed....

This is not how I expected my suspension to go.... I need to find out who pushed me in that lake... It's not like a lot of people knew about that spot anyway...
