Emergency.

"Oh my God, how did it happened?" Sarah asked as they took the little girl towards the emergency room. "She drank acid!" her father replied.

"Quick we need to wash her stomach, right now!" Sarah declared, her voice tainted with urgency. Sarah took the girl into the room along with some other nurses.

"Sir please come this way" a nurse said to the girl's father, "you need to sign these papers."

Sarah pov:

I let out a loud sigh, thank God we saved her. But the important thing was the bruises and scars covering her whole body. I looked closely, analyzing those cuts.

Self harm.

But those bruises, like she was beaten everyday. "Dr. Kim, I think we should call the cops. It's a serious matter" a nurse spoke. I nodded my head in approval.

"Shift the girl in another room and check on her heartbeat after every minutes" I told them as I walked towards my office.

I wanted to speak with her father. So I went to look for him. I sighed seeing the cops have already arrived but something was off. "What happened?" I asked, "the girl's father ran away" a nurse replied.

What!?

"Dr. Kim after Sam told him that we are calling the cops, he panicked and no one knows when he left" she explained. My eyes shot towards Sam, the girl was looking down, "who told you to tell him that!?" I yelled at her, "you are so unprofessional Ms Jung!"

She shuddered and spoke in a shaky voice, "I'm s-sorry." She was on the verge of tears. "Can your sorry bring that man here?" I hold my temples and close my eyes, trying to calm down but I was burning with anger. I left immediately not wanting to see any of their faces.

I closed the door shut, sat down on the chair. Spinning around along with the chair as it moved in circles. I think her father was behind all this.

Chanri knocked on the door softly but didn't get an answer from Sarah. She opened the door slowly to take a quick peek and found Sarah sleeping, her head resting on the desk and her hair covering her face.

She chuckled softly and went near Sarah. She must be tired after the everything, Chanri thought to herself.

"Sarah Unnie..." She whispered softly, Sarah sat up abruptly and Chanri shrieked. Both the girls were shocked but then Chanri giggled, "you scared me Unnie." Sarah sighed.

"You know Unnie" Chanri began as she took her seat, "you shouldn't have yelled at Sam. Poor girl is crying her heart out, saying it's all her fault."

"Well it is her fault!" Sarah replied, "but I'll talk to her..."

"Oh yeah I was here to tell you that girl is awake and she is very scared."

"Really?" Sarah asked, her voice tainted with urgency, "I'll go there."

"OK bye Unnie."

Sarah opened the door and saw Yeji talking with the girl but she kept her head low and was trembling with fear.

"Yeji?" The nurse turned around to look at Sarah.

"Yes Dr. Kang?" Yeji was now standing right next to Sarah. "I'll take care of her, you can leave."

"OK Dr. Kang" as she was going to leave, Sarah called her again, "do you know her name?"

Yeji replied with a smile, "her name is Selina, Dr. Kang."

Sarah nodded her head and Yeji left. Slowly and carefully, the brunette made her way towards the little girl who was probably 11 or 12.

"Hello dear Selina," Sarah was surprised how gentle her voice sounded. Her voice was always cold and harsh. But again if you are cold towards children, you are not cold, you are inhuman.

Selina didn't responded and neither did she looked at Sarah. Sarah took her small hands in between her, the small gesture made Selina flinch and she finally gave Sarah a short glance before looking down again.

"Can you tell me why you did that, I mean drank acid." Again no response.

"Is it because of your father?" Sarah interrogated but again silence. "I guess" Sarah continued "it has nothing to do with your father" keeping her eyes on the girl, "I'll call him in."

Sarah stood up but Selina grabbed her hands. She broke down into tears, holding Sarah's hands tightly. Sighing Sarah sat near her and embraced her in a tight hug.

Soon her slight moans turned into loud cries. The sound of her cries were so hoarse, so deadly terrifying that it sends shivers down Sarah's spine.

Sarah was afraid hearing those horrifying cries and she can felt her trembling. Selina was trying to speak but couldn't. Sarah rubbed her back trying to calm her down, she looked so afraid, her grip around Sarah's waist slowly tightened.

Later when she cool down and was much better, she wanted to say something so badly so Sarah gave her a pen and paper. She came to know that her six year old brother is alone at home and her mother is dead, her father killed her.

Sarah gave all the information to the cops and they left right away to find the little guy while Sarah stayed by Selina's side until she was asleep.

The cops brought the little boy Joshua, he was crying and yelling that he wanted to go to her sister. About the children's mom, her corpse was found in the basement. When the police officers went inside the house, they found little Joshua under the bed trembling with fear.

Sam and another nurse took care of him, gave him a quick shower and changed his clothes. They gave him something to eat, poor guy haven't eaten since 2 days. "Do you want to meet your sister?" I asked as I squatted down to his level. Lowering his head, he nodded.

" I'll take you to her but promise me you won't make any noise. Selina is sleeping" a small smile finds it's way up to his cute face. I grabbed his hand lead her to Selina's room.

He sat down on the chair next to the bed and put his little hand on hers. My heart ached seeing those kids, there future is ruined and who is to blame? Of course their parents. Parents now a days are so ruthless and cruel, if they can't take care of them, why do they give birth to them?

Children lives are ruined for no reason.
