Chapter Five - The Demon

The same demon who caused the accident. The same demon who turned me into this. He had come back. He had killed my uncle too.

Her eyes flared red as anger in her voice.

I could not forgive. I could not let it go. I followed the scent, my legs carrying me through the streets, out into the forest. My heart was burning with rage. For the first time, I didn’t feel like a victim. I felt like a storm.

She closed her eyes, remembering.

And then, I saw him. Standing in the forest, his eyes glowing like fire, his mouth still stained with blood. He looked at me, and he laughed.

The boy felt a chill.

What did he say? he whispered.

Her voice turned sharp. He said, "I was hungry. I saw your uncle, so I ate him. What’s the matter, little one? Did I take away your toy?" And then he laughed. He laughed at my pain. He laughed at my loss.

My whole body shook with anger. My uncle had loved me even after I became a demon. He had given me a home, a family, a reason to live. And this monster… he had taken him away from me, just like he took my parents.

The boy could see the anger in her eyes even now, though years had passed.

"I wanted to kill him," she whispered, her teeth clenched. I wanted to tear him apart with my own hands. I screamed at him, asked him why, why he had to destroy my life again and again. But he only smiled and said, ‘Because I can. Because you are mine. I made you what you are. Without me, you wouldn’t even exist.’

Those words cut deeper than any wound. He wanted me to believe I belonged to him, that I was his creation, his shadow. But I refused. I hated him more than anything in this world. I swore then and there I would not be his. I would not let him take everything from me.

The boy held her trembling hands, his voice gentle but strong. "You don’t belong to him. You never did. You belong to yourself. And now… to us."

Her chest tightened, her anger mixing with sorrow, but also with something new- hope.

She looked at him, her eyes softer now, though still burning from her memories. That night, I couldn’t defeat him. I wasn’t strong enough. He vanished into the darkness, laughing. But his face, his voice… I never forgot. And one day, I promised myself, I will find him again. And when I do… I will end him.

The boy brushed her hair gently, whispering, "And when that day comes, you won’t be alone. I’ll be there with you."

Her breath caught, her heart trembling at his words. For so long, she had carried her pain alone, hiding it behind shadows. But now, for the first time, she felt that maybe she didn’t have to.

The forest, the demon’s laughter, her uncle’s lifeless body they were scars that would never fade. But with the boy by her side, perhaps the scars didn’t have to define her.

The night around them was silent, but inside her chest, a storm raged a storm of grief, rage, and love. And deep in her heart, she whispered a vow to her parents, her uncle, and herself.

She would find that demon again.

And this time, she would not fail.
