-
You woke the next morning in your bed, dizzy. Your body felt strangely light, yet heavy at the same time—like something inside had changed.
Then you remembered it.
> The garden.
Subaru’s fangs.
His voice: “You’re mine now.”
You touched your neck. The mark was still there. A soft sting… but it made your heart race.
You felt it in your veins. Not just blood.
His presence.
—
That day, Subaru avoided you.
He wasn’t at his desk.
He wasn’t outside the dorm.
He wasn’t even in the abandoned wing where he sometimes hid.
Instead, you found a letter on your pillow, written in neat, sharp handwriting.
> “Yumi.
What I did last night was wrong.
You should hate me. You should run.
But if you come back to me again…
I might not let you go.
– Subaru.”
Your heart clenched.
But instead of fear, you felt pulled to him. As if his blood now whispered to yours.
You ran. Out into the rain. Across the stone path to the old cathedral building, where the air always felt colder.
And there he was.
Subaru.
Sitting alone on a pew in the candlelight, soaked in guilt.
> “You came,” he whispered, surprised.
> “Of course I did,” you replied. “Why are you hiding?”
He didn’t answer. His fists were clenched. His fangs visible, slightly bloody.
> “I almost lost control,” he said. “When I bit you… I felt your emotions. All of them. Your fear. Your pain. Your kindness. It was too much.”
> “Is that what a blood bond does?” you asked quietly.
He looked at you.
> “Yes. We’re connected now. I can feel you. Even when you're far away. And you… you’ll start to feel what I feel too.”
You stepped toward him.
> “Then tell me what you’re feeling right now.”
Silence. Then—
> “Terrified.”
You blinked.
> “You’re never scared.”
> “I am,” he said. “Because for the first time… I don’t want to be a monster anymore. And that means I have something to lose.”
Your eyes met. No more space between you.
> “You’re not a monster, Subaru.”
> “Then why do I want to kiss you even though I’m shaking?” he asked.
You reached for his hand.
> “Because maybe… you’re falling in love.”
His breath hitched.
Then he kissed you.
Not rough. Not hungry.
Soft. Human. Real.
But just as the warmth grew—
A loud crash echoed from the entrance. You both turned.
A shadow stepped through the cathedral door.
Eyes glowing gold. Fangs longer than Subaru’s.
> “Well, well…”
“My little brother finally made a blood bond.”
Subaru’s body tensed.
> “Kino.”
> “Didn’t expect me so soon?” the figure said with a wicked smile.
“I heard there's a girl who might just ruin everything for us vampires.”
And then…
He looked directly at you.
> “Let’s see what she’s made of.”
--
Kino stepped forward, his golden eyes flashing with cruel amusement.
> “So, Subaru,” he said, voice silky but sharp as a dagger,
“You think you can protect her? This human? After all we’ve been through?”
Subaru’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t flinch.
> “Yumi is not yours to touch,” he said quietly,
“and you know it.”
Kino laughed darkly.
> “Oh, I know. But blood bonds aren’t so easily broken. Especially when they bind the Sakamaki bloodline.”
He turned to you with a wicked grin,
“You’ve been marked now, little one. But the question is—will you survive what that means?”
You swallowed hard. Fear and adrenaline surged. Yet beneath it all, a strange strength bubbled inside you.
> “I’m not afraid,” you said firmly.
Kino’s smile faltered.
Suddenly, Subaru moved.
> “Stay behind me,” he commanded.
You didn’t hesitate.
Together, you stood shoulder to shoulder, facing the threat.
Kino’s expression darkened.
> “So be it,” he said,
“but know this — the Sakamaki curse runs deep. You’re tied to us forever now, Yumi. And that means danger will follow.”
Before either of you could respond, Kino vanished into shadow, leaving behind a chilling whisper:
> “I’m watching. Waiting.”
Subaru let out a breath he’d been holding.
> “I won’t let him hurt you. Not ever.”
You looked up at him, heart pounding.
> “Then let me fight by your side.”
His red eyes shone with gratitude and something softer.
> “Together,” he agreed.
Outside, the crimson moon glowed brighter, as if sealing your fate.
