[ASH – Library / Before class]

[Ash walked into the school courtyard, black earbuds in place, long legs wrapped in tight black pants, silver rings glinting on his fingers. His canvas bag bounced on his shoulder as he kept his gaze low, ignoring the chaos of morning crowd.]

Axel Elric (younger twin)

Oy! Ash! You coming to watch us practice or what?

Ash Elric (MC)

[He stopped walking. Slowly pulled one earbud out.]

Ash Elric (MC)

Let me guess. Another practice that turns into shirtless posing for your fangirls?

Axel Elric (younger twin)

[Grinning wide, spinning the basketball on his finger like a show-off.]

Axel Elric (younger twin)

Can you blame them? I mean, look at this body.

Ash Elric (MC)

Tragically, I have seen it. Daily. It's like a horror film in slow motion.

Aiden Elric (older twin)

[Chuckling softly, dribbling behind Axel.]

[Rolling his eyes and walking past them.]

[Appearing beside him with her dark eyeliner wings sharp enough to kill.]

And yet the world still turns.

Let me guess. You finished that thick nerd novel last night and forgot to sleep?

Ash Elric (MC)

[Smirking lightly.]

No. I reread the entire Percy Jackson series out of spite. A boy deserves some Greek drama in his life.

[Library – Free period]

[Ash sat in the farthest corner of the library, away from everyone. A soft breeze from the open window rustled the page of his book.]

Ash Elric (MC)

{Finally. Silence.}

[He flipped a page, completely absorbed.]

Then…

Ezren Vale (ML)

[Standing in front of him, towering with a quiet intensity, sleeves rolled to the elbows, eyes like storm clouds.]

Ezren Vale (ML)

Do you mind if I sit here?

Ash Elric (MC)

[Ash blinked. Looked up slowly. Expression unreadable.]

Ash Elric (MC)

...You're joking.

Ezren Vale (ML)

No. This is the quietest corner.

Ash Elric (MC)

[Staring at him.]

Ash Elric (MC)

This is my corner. Occupied. Bookworm zone. Find your own sad-boy seating arrangement.

Ezren Vale (ML)

[Without waiting for a response, he calmly pulled out the chair across from Ash and sat down.]

Ezren Vale (ML)

Ash Elric (MC)

[Slams his book shut. Glaring.]

Ash Elric (MC)

I don’t care if you’re a ghost, a Greek god, or a lost tourist. I don’t share my space.

Ezren Vale (ML)

[Leaning back in the chair, arms crossed. He smirked slightly.]

Ezren Vale (ML)

Well, now you do.

Ash Elric (MC)

{Is this guy for real? Who even is this smug statue in designer shoes?}

Ash Elric (MC)

[Ash pulled out his phone and sent a message to Axel.]

Ash Elric (MC)

💬There’s a random tall man in my library nest. Tell him to leave before I strangle him with a bookmark.

Axel Elric (younger twin)

💬Bro… that’s EZREN VALE. As in Argent U’s basketball god. MVP. Billionaire heir. King of cold stares. Don’t strangle. Maybe flirt?

Ash Elric (MC)

[muttering] Flirt, my ass.

[Reading Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, flipping pages slowly. Doesn’t look up.]

You talk to yourself a lot?

Ash Elric (MC)

[Snaps back.]

You invite yourself into places a lot?

Ezren Vale (ML)

I go where it’s quiet. I like peace.

Ash Elric (MC)

[Annoyed, leaning forward.]

Ash Elric (MC)

Peace? You just ruined mine.

Ezren Vale (ML)

Then I guess we’ll suffer together.

[A moment of silence passed. A weirdly not uncomfortable silence.]

Ash Elric (MC)

{His voice is annoying. His face is worse. And yet, I’m still looking. Ugh. Brain, get a grip.}

[Later that day – Courtyard again]

Sera Hwang (MC bff)

So, you’re telling me the richest, hottest, and most unbothered college player in the city… sat with you?

Ash Elric (MC)

I didn’t invite him. He just appeared like a silent curse.

Sera Hwang (MC bff)

[Cackling.]

Sera Hwang (MC bff)

I knew your dry sarcasm would eventually attract some kind of chaos. I just didn’t think it’d be six-foot-three chaos with jawline privilege.

Ash Elric (MC)

I will not be seduced by cheekbones. I'm above that.

Ash Elric (MC)

{Okay. Maybe like… slightly curious. But still.}

[He stared up at the stars, a book still in hand. No one else around.]

{Ash Elric. Sharp tongue. Black eyes. Defended a table like it was his child.}

[He smiled a little, just barely.]

Ezren Vale (ML)

{Interesting. Finally.}
