Chapter 2: The Ferrer Siblings

Another good day, another good morning. That’s the thing that Roxanne thinks first. I mean, even if the world is too chaotic—for her, it’s peaceful. Well, she lives in a province, of course it will be too peaceful. But that’s more better than living in the city.

“ Ate Kinsley, gising na! Mag-iimpake pa tayo nang mga gamit! “ Roxanne shouted so Kinsley can hear it to her room. Kinsley get up faster and went her bedroom out.

“ Ang aga-aga tapos ang ingay mo Rox! “ Roxanne laughed and she gave her sister’s luggage. Kinsley also started packing her clothes. Both of them decided to transfer to a school in Manila. They are already packing because in just a minute, there will be a van that will fetch them.

“ Gising na ba si mama? “ Kinsley curiously asked to Roxanne and she just nodded her head. But no worries, their mom knows that they need to study in Manila. But they promised to keep contact with their family.

Their mom doesn’t need to get worried for them because they also have friends that are currently studying in Manila. I mean, more like they are the childhood friends of Rox and Kinsley—so the both of them are safe with their friends.

“ Nando’n si mama, nagluluto sa kusina “ Rox said while still packing her clothes. Kinsley nodded at her, looking at the kitchen. She spotted their mother who is still cooking. She let her sister pack her things and went to the kitchen to help their mom to cook.

Kinsley smelled the delicious and perfect aroma, sensing that their mom cooked their favourite food. Adobo!

Kinsley smiled and walked to their mother.

“ Ang bango naman po niyan ’ma “ Kinsley said happily, looking at the food that their mom cooking. Mrs. Ferrer smiled at her eldest daughter and rub its hair.

“ Malapit na ito maluto, ’nak. Nakapag-impake na ba kayo ng kapatid mo? “ Mrs. Ferrer asked her daughter and she nodded. She looked back right where she left her sister and she noticed that she’s already done packing. She also noticed that her luggage is already packed, she smiled at the thought of her sister helped her pack her own luggage.

It’s just a normal day for the Ferrer family. Mrs. Ferrer called her daughters to eat, before eating, Roxanne wakes her father up. Mr. Ferrer put a smile on his face as he get up and went outside his and his wife’s room.

“ Kainan na! “ Kinsley exclaimed and sat down. Roxanne, their father and their mom also sat down. They prayed before eating.

Even if they live in a hut, it doesn’t matter to them. As long as they are complete. But on this day, Kinsley and Roxanne needs to go to Manila to study there. They have no choice, they also don’t have enough payment to pay for their tuition fee. But luckily, some schools in Manila are accepting scholars. They continue to eat, spending their time together completely—before they leave.

As they finished eating, they heard a loud honk. Meaning the van is already there and they need to leave. They get their luggages and stares at their house for the last time. But it’s not the actual last time. They just need to leave the province.

They placed their luggages in the back, as they was about to leave, their parents hugged them. Their mom crying.

“ Mag-iingat kayo ro’n mga anak ha? Lagi kayong kumain sa tamang oras at huwag magpapalipas ng gutom. Alagaan niyo sarili niyo roon, ha? “ Their mom sniffs and they just chuckled, more like they just want to cry. I mean, who wouldn’t cry if you’re going into a place that is far away from your parents?

“ Ano ba ’yan, ’ma. Pinapaiyak niyo rin po kami eh. Tsaka magbabakasyon din naman po kami rito after ng semester “ They both laughed and hugged each other again. After, they bid their goodbyes. They promise to still have a connection. Always call in evenings, just like how a family acts.

“ ’Ma, ’pa! Ingat kayo riyan! Bye po! “ The Ferrer siblings already hopped in the van and waved at their parents. Saying goodbyes, but their goodbyes doesn’t mean that they will not see their parents anymore.

The siblings held each other’s hand and they let out a hard sigh. They want to start, and have a good start. They want to know how it looks in the city. They want to know if it is peaceful just like in province.

But sometimes, Kinsley wondered, what-if she suddenly meets her past lover there? Even worst because he lives in Manila. I mean, with Manila being so vast, it’s impossible for their paths to cross again. But it’s just what-if. Or maybe what-if, her past lover asks for another chance? Would she accept him in her heart again? Or will she let another someone in her heart?

But of course, she will never let her past lover cheats on her again. She will never accept him in her heart again. Because she’s already tired. She’s already tired at love. She doesn’t even believe in love anymore, because she never felt that in a relationship.

She just want to take care of her sister, if she never felt love in a relationship—she felt love when her sister is there. She have so many thoughts inside her head—some unsaid thoughts.

She just want to scream, scream the pain out. Scream the pain out when she catched her past lover cheating on her. The worst is, her sister was the one who found out. Luckily, Roxanne and their friends are here to comfort her.

Kinsley is the oldest, but to Roxanne, she’s just a baby. The both of them doesn’t believe in love, but they also once loved someone and ended up getting their heart broken. So they all prioritize are academics, family, and friends.

They’re the same vibe, and same feeling. But the only opposite is, Roxanne acts like the oldest and treats her sister like she’s the youngest. But also sometimes, Kinsley acts the oldest. Most if someone tries to broke Roxanne’s heart. Even if they always squabble, they still know how to act like sisters.

After a few hours of ride, they looked at the window. City lights, buildings, a chaotic place suprised them. It’s too noisy, too much peoples, and too much cars. They arrived at their destination, first they went to their friend’s dorm.

They knocked as they already arrived, they were so amazed at the looks. But they are also unfamilliar with the surroundings. As the door opened, a warm big hug suprised them.

“ SISSY!!! “ Shanaia exlaimed, they both covered their ears. “ Ang ingay mo naman Shanaia! “ Mariah said irritated, but not clearly irritated. They hugged their long time childhood friends.

Shanaia, Mariah, and Savarah.

All of them are kikays, but the most kikay is Shanaia. Savarah is the most oa in the group and Mariah is the bayonetta girly. And here she is, wearing her red bayonetta glasses.

The three welcome them and let them in. There are also some foods for them to eat, more like they are gonna throw a welcome party for Kinsley and Roxanne.

“ Ang laki naman ng dorm mo ate Mariah “ Mariah just smiled at Roxanne but Shanaia gave her an ’ are you serious? ’ look.

“ Excuse me, Roxanne Antonette, fyi sa’kin ang dorm na ’to “ Shanaia dramatically said. Roxanne just laughed and gave her a thumbs up. While Savarah hitted Shanaia’s arm, wanting her to stop her dramatic actions.

“ Tama ka na, ’te. Mamaya ka na mang-away “ The four of them laughed at Shanaia and she just gave them a disgusted look. They continued to eat, just a normal day. After that, the Ferrer siblings spended their time with the three. They even went for a sleep over.

It’s a tough day for the siblings, but they can still manage to have fun. After the tired day, they already drifted to sleep.

Because tomorrow is their first day of the school, but they don’t need to worry. Their friends already enrolled them as the scholars in their university.

New university, new life.
