Chapter 3
Friendship
I woke up due to the fact that Silvi was pecking my left leg, what a great wake up alarm clock she is.
She was sitting right next to me, looking--no staring right at me. I shooed her off my bed.
Fortunately, she didn’t peck me.
Unfortunately, she knocked over my books stacked on my desk with her wings.
Wait, my books stacked on my desk? I thought it was supposed to be scattered on the floor due to Silvi’s outburst yesterday night? Better question, how did the books end up stacked on my desk-- it was supposed to be on the floor.
I sat up and looked around the room in both surprise and confusion, how did my room end up both clean and organized? I can swear that Silvi knocked over almost everything in sight. Where was the mess, everything was...was back to normal (or seriously abnormal from another point of view.) Was everything a hallucination, or did something happen to my room while I was unconscious? No…no, that’s not possible, I locked my door properly and shut my windows tight, there must be some other explanation to this-- this incident*.
“Ugh, Silvi, get off of my books,” hopefully she’ll listen, if not then I guess I’m quite doomed. I need those books for school…
“Hey, get off--come on Silvi, stop being so stubborn!” This female bird, so stubborn and annoying! First, she pecked me awake and now she’s... ugh I have no word left to say to her.
“Silvi, may you please get off of my books?” She waited for a second and somehow shook her head, yes, and then flew up to rest in my bag instead. What a smart bird she is, and a troublesome bird.
She nestled herself in my bag as if it was a miniature birdhouse or something. I was fine with her staying in my bag until she started pecking (or rather biting) my bag. Giving it miniature holes.
“Silvi, don’t bite my bag! Please, Silvi, stop biting--!” I swear this bird is playing tricks on me for entertainment.
Silvi just nodded her head and changed from my biting bag to sitting on my bed, fortunately, she fell asleep-- much better than creating holes on my bag.
*
After a week of doing the science project with Claira, me and Silvi were quite getting along, we didn’t really argue like before, it was much easier and peaceful nowadays-- I was quite content with my life.
One day after school, I decided to let Silvi outside my yard rather than to keep her crammed up in my room to mess around.
“Silvi, let’s go out instead of staying in my room today, ok?” she hesitated for a second and then followed me out while examining all the rooms in my apartment.
I opened the door going outside to where my yard is at. Silvi wasn’t here with me.
“Silvi, what’s taking you--,” I saw her racing towards my window, trying to get outside.
“Silly bird, you get out through the door,” as soon as she heard that, she flew out my door and started to rest herself among my newly planted flowers. She seemed content outside here.
“Stay here if you want,” I said to Silvi, “ I’m going to the store for some seeds.”
She nodded her head and fell asleep there, I went out, wondering what to do after I was done buying her bird food… today was my day off after all.
When I came out of the store, I felt anatidaephobia again, that’s so strange, I hadn’t had trouble with my phobia during two weeks with Silvi, she’s in the family of ducks after all.
I turned around and saw a goose and a duck staring at me as if waiting for a treat. After a while of thinking, I realized that they wanted the bird food that I had brought for Silvi.
“Here birds,” I sprinkled some of the seeds on the floor. I waited, they were staring at me and I was staring at them.
I decided to leave, and when I turned my back to leave, I heard them pecking on the seeds that I had sprinkled earlier. So these birds eat food offered by strangers after they leave the food there.
When I came back home, I found Silvi sleeping. She looked so peaceful. I left her bird food next to her and went inside my apartment. Silvi was there too somehow, wasn't she supposed to be outside? No time to worry about that now, I need to sleep... after I shower anyways.
