ep 4
Taehyung lets out a victorious laugh, bouncing slightly on the bed.
Taehyung
“I won, Uncle! I won!”
Before Jungkook can react, Taehyung throws his arms around him in an excited hug. His warmth, his innocence—it crashes into Jungkook like a wave.
Jungkook's heart pounds so loud it feels like thunder in his ears. His body moves before his mind can stop it, he places a hand on Taehyung’s back.
But the touch… it lingers.
Too long. Too tight. There’s something dark and restless in the way his fingers grip.
Taehyung shifts slightly, the brightness in his face dimming just a bit. He feels something. He doesn’t know what, but it makes him stiffen.
Jin
(from the doorway, sharply):
“What are you two doing?”
Like lightning, Jungkook’s hand recoils. He jumps slightly, the trance breaking. He quickly stands, taking a step back as if burned.
Jungkook
(too fast, too casual):
“Nothing. Just… he won the game.”
Taehyung blinks, still unsure what just passed between them, but quickly masks it with a smile. He turns to Jin, beaming.
Taehyung
“I was playing with Uncle and I won! I hugged him excitedly, that’s all!”
Jin narrows his eyes at Jungkook, not fully suspicious yet, but his gaze lingers longer than usual.
Jin
“Come downstairs, both of you. Dinner’s ready.”
Taehyung immediately perks up, nodding eagerly. Jungkook, however, keeps his eyes low, still shaken. He mutters under his breath
Jungkook
“I’ll come later.”
But Taehyung doesn’t let go that easily. He reaches out and grabs Jungkook’s arm with both hands, his smile returning like a flicker of sunshine through clouds.
Taehyung
“Come on, Uncle! Let’s eat together.”
He tugs gently, trying to drag Jungkook . Of course, he can’t move him much—but the gesture is earnest, almost childlike.
Taehyung
(grinning):
“I’ll lose my appetite if you don’t come down.”
Jungkook
“Alright. Let’s go.”
Jin, standing by the door, watches them—Taehyung's glowing face, Jungkook’s strangely guarded one. Something feels… off. But he doesn’t say anything. Not yet.
He simply turns and leads the way down the stairs, Taehyung holding onto Jungkook’s arm like a kid dragging his favorite person to dinner.
The four sit around the table—RM and Jin on one side, Taehyung and Jungkook opposite them. The warm clinking of dishes and soft hum of the night fill the quiet space.
Jin, ever the gentle one, lovingly places a spoonful of rice onto RM’s plate, giving him a small, knowing smile. RM returns it with a nod of gratitude.
Across the table, Taehyung glances at the way Jin serves RM
subconsciously mimicking what he sees. Without saying a word, he begins spooning rice into Jungkook’s bowl.
Jin
( looking at Taehyung)
jungkook stares.
Unblinking. Unmoving.
Each grain that falls into his bowl feels like a heartbeat.
Taehyung doesn’t notice the gaze—he’s just smiling, focused on making sure the portion is right.
And Jungkook…
His lips curve into a faint, almost involuntary smile. A strange warmth spreads through him, aching, unwelcome, and sweet.
Jungkook
(softly, voice strained to stay light):
“That’s enough, kid…”
Taehyung pauses, looks up with a grin and nods innocently.
Jin, across the table, watches the exchange. Just a second too long. He shifts his eyes from Taehyung’s cheerful face to Jungkook’s—something unreadable crossing his expression. He doesn’t say anything… yet.
RM
“So, Taehyung—what games did you two play earlier? I’m sure you crushed him.”
Taehyung lights up instantly.
Taehyung
“We played that racing game, and I totally beat him! Uncle said he’d win, but I won !”
The room chuckles, the mood lifted slightly—but Jungkook just silently eats.
