TAEHYUNG
(Stood by the door, hidden from sight, watching through the glass)
The moment Jungkook entered the gallery, something inside him surged — an ache in his soul that screamed he’s here
YOONGI
(Stood beside him silently)
YOONGI
He found the painting
TAEHYUNG
(Fingers trembled) Do you think he remembers?
YOONGI
(His eyes were focused on Jungkook, who now stared at the next painting — one of a field of poppies. A different lifetime)
Flashback — Lifetime #7: 1970s, Countryside
Taehyung wore a straw hat, sketching under the sun. Jungkook was lying beside him, chewing a grass stem
Jungkook:
“Do you believe in fate, hyung?”
Taehyung: (smiling)
“I believe in you.”
Jungkook:
“Even if we’re poor?”
Taehyung:
“Even if we’re dust.”
Jungkook:
“Even if we die?”
Taehyung: (reaching over to hold his hand)
“Then I’ll find you in the next life, and love you all over again.”
JUNGKOOK
(Stood still, staring at painting after painting)
Each one struck him like thunder. He didn’t know these places. These clothes. These faces
Loss. Love. Devotion. Grief.
And in every canvas — the same two boys
The other — the one always left behind — was Taehyung
JUNGKOOK
(to himself) Why did he paint me so many times?
“Because I always found you first.”
TAEHYUNG
(Stood a few feet away)
No violet umbrella this time
JUNGKOOK
(softly) You’re the artist
JUNGKOOK
(after a pause) Why… why do you know my face?
TAEHYUNG
(smiled sadly)Because I’ve memorized it in every lifetime
JUNGKOOK
(Stared, unable to speak. His hands trembled slightly)
JUNGKOOK
I don’t… remember
TAEHYUNG
(Took a cautious step forward)
TAEHYUNG
It’s okay. I didn’t expect you to. You never remember at first
JUNGKOOK
(Eyes widened) You’re saying this happened before?
TAEHYUNG
We’ve been lovers. Soldiers. Strangers. We’ve been everything. And every time, you leave… and I wait
JUNGKOOK
(Shook his head slowly, overwhelmed)
JUNGKOOK
I thought I was going crazy… seeing you in dreams… feeling like something’s missing. I don’t even know your name, and yet—
JUNGKOOK
(Stepped forward suddenly, eyes shining)
JUNGKOOK
Why does my heart feel like it’s breaking when I see you?
TAEHYUNG
Because your soul remembers what your mind has forgotten
JUNGKOOK
(Tears welled in his eyes. His voice was barely a whisper)
JUNGKOOK
I think… I think I missed you before I even knew you
TAEHYUNG
Then let me stay this time
JUNGKOOK
(eyes locked with his)
JUNGKOOK
What if I remember everything? What if it hurts too much?
TAEHYUNG
Then I’ll hurt with you
And in that moment, for the first time in this life...
Jungkook let himself believe
