Across Lifetimes: The Thread Between Us
EPISODE 4: Paintings from the Past-1
The rain tapped softly on the window
JUNGKOOK
(Lay awake again, sketchbook clutched to his chest)
His heart was racing even though the room was quiet
The boy from the street — with those piercing eyes and the violet umbrella — wouldn’t leave his mind
JUNGKOOK
Who are you…? (whispered to the ceiling)
He turned his head and looked at the sketch he drew earlier — the same boy, so familiar, yet a stranger
The room was dark. No walls. Just a void of silence
Suddenly, footsteps echoed. And from the shadows, he appeared
Taehyung
“You found me again, didn’t you?”
Jungkook: (voice trembling)
“Do I… know you?”
Taehyung: (stepping forward)
“You always ask me that. In every lifetime."
Jungkook:
“I don’t understand…”
Taehyung’s voice cracked as he whispered:
“It’s okay. You will. Soon.”
And the moment Jungkook reached out to touch him—
JUNGKOOK
(Woke up, gasping)
Jungkook couldn’t focus in class. He kept scribbling in the margins of his notebook — the violet umbrella, the royal clothes, the sad smile
During lunch, Jimin caught him staring off into space again
JIMIN
Okay, this is getting weird. You’re scaring me, Kook
JUNGKOOK
I… I need to go somewhere
JIMIN
(raising a brow) Like a therapist?
JUNGKOOK
No. An art gallery
Downtown Art Gallery — "Fragments of a Soul"
The space was quiet, the air scented with varnish and time
JUNGKOOK
(Walked slowly, his eyes flicking from painting to painting)
And suddenly, his steps froze
A massive oil painting — full of gold, red, and anguish
A battlefield. A prince in royal robes, lying wounded in the arms of a crying soldier
JUNGKOOK
(Breath caught in his throat) That’s… my dream
The palace, the blood, the grief. It was all there
JUNGKOOK
(Moved closer, staring at the details — the soldier’s trembling hands, the prince’s final smile)
JUNGKOOK
(muttering) This can’t be a coincidence…
JUNGKOOK
You’re the one I’ve been dreaming about…
Then he saw the artist’s name on the wall placard
