The Mind Games
Episode 6: "Unleashing Potential"
The Arrival of the Legendary Coach:
The man who had introduced himself as the new coach of Shinari FC finally revealed his true identity. His name wasn’t Loki, as the players had thought. Instead, he introduced himself as Takahiro "Taka" Kuroda — a former legend of the Shinari FC club who had helped them win multiple championships back in the day. He was known for his incredible skills, leadership, and sharp football mind.
Takahiro Kuroda (Taka):
"Loki was a genius, but even he couldn’t handle the chaos of a team like ours. I'm here to show you how it's really done."
The Challenge:
Takahiro looked at the Shinari FC squad with a critical eye. He was unimpressed by their current state, as the team seemed full of raw potential but lacked direction. The players were eager to prove themselves, and so Takahiro set up a challenge: he would face the entire team in a practice match.
The challenge was simple — the squad would play against him and see if they could beat him. But Takahiro was known for his legendary skills, and he didn’t expect them to win.
The match started, and the entire team was pumped up. They wanted to show their worth. The game began with Takahiro taking the field alone, facing off against 11 players of Shinari FC.

Takahiro Kuroda (Taka): Playing alone against the entire team
First Half:
The match kicked off, and from the very start, Takahiro displayed his remarkable skills. He was everywhere on the field, dodging players with ease, passing with precision, and scoring effortlessly. Despite the team’s efforts, they couldn't contain him. Soru tried to pressure him with a few tackles but was easily bypassed.
By halftime, the score was 4-0 in favor of Takahiro.
Kazama was losing his temper, clearly frustrated with how the match was going.
Ichiro struggled to find his rhythm, unsure of his position as a midfielder.
Kashikoi wasn’t able to make an impact, often caught out of position.
Soru felt hopeless, unable to find his footing in the match.
Takahiro’s Critique:
At halftime, Takahiro stopped the match and gathered the players.
Takahiro Kuroda (Taka):
"You guys are all talented, but you’re still freshmen. You need to understand your positions and play as a unit."
He then gave each player some personal feedback:
Ichiro (Midfielder):
"You’ve got the potential to be great, but right now, you’re lost in midfield. Go wide. You’ll learn more and utilize your speed better there."
Kazama (Striker):
"You’re too emotional, Kazama. The center isn’t for you. Go to the middle, but keep your striker mentality. You’ll be more effective there."
Kashikoi (Attacking Midfielder):
"Your IQ is off the charts. If everyone combined their IQ, you’d still be the smartest. Go to the wing and use that intelligence to control the game."
Momo (Defender):
"You’re solid in defense, but sometimes, you need to go forward. It’s not just about protecting the goal; you need to create chances too."
Riku (Defender):
"You’re the best defender we have. But you need to train as a goalkeeper too, Riku. You’ve got that potential. Consider training for a CB role."
Renji (Winger):
"You want to score, but right now, you need to focus on the winger role. Defend and assist your teammates."
Soru (Striker):
"You may not have natural talent right now, but you’ve got something. You’ve got potential. Stay on top, keep your eyes open for the ball, and let's see if you have any magic in you."
The Second Half:
The second half began, and this time, Takahiro's words were taken to heart. The players adjusted their positions based on his feedback, and the game started to change. Ichiro went wide, and his pace started to stretch Takahiro’s defense. Kazama stayed in the middle, showing a more controlled and calm approach to his play. Kashikoi moved to the wing and was able to control the ball better and create space for his teammates. Momo started pushing forward, creating dangerous crosses into the box. Riku kept improving, showing off his defensive abilities.
Though Takahiro was still far superior in terms of skill, Shinari FC managed to pull together, scoring one goal and improving their overall performance. The final whistle blew, and the score was 6-1 in favor of Takahiro.
Takahiro’s Final Words:
After the game, Takahiro stood before the team, looking at each player with a critical eye.
Takahiro Kuroda (Taka):
"Loki, Kira, and Leo were never this bad when they were freshmen. But you guys... you’ve got heart. You’ve got potential. You just need to believe in yourselves and work as a team."
He looked at Soru.
Takahiro Kuroda (Taka):
"Soru, you may not have talent right now, but you’ve got something special inside you. I believe you’ll surprise us."
The Friendly Match:
The next day, Takahiro arranged a friendly match against a local team to test the improvements they had made during the practice.
The opponent was a well-coached and experienced team, but Takahiro believed his squad was ready. The team’s lineup for the friendly match was:
GK: Genji
CB: Riku, Momo
RB: Random senior
LB: Random senior
CM: Ichiro
AM: Kashikoi
RW: Rin
LW: Renji
ST: Kazama
ST: Soru
