Episode 2: “Dodge Like a Keeper”

🏡 Scene 1 – Zino's Backyard, Early Morning

Zino wakes up with one goal in mind — to practice his balloon skills like a real goalkeeper. No rules. No limits. Just him and the balloon.

He grabs his helium tank (borrowed “permanently” from Mr. Badmus), and starts inflating balloons.

One... two... three...

Soon, he has 16 balloons floating above him like a mini galaxy. 🌌

He throws one up, lets it float, then tries to dodge and tap it mid-air with his palm without letting it touch the ground — like a volleyball keeper.

Zino’s Style:

Jumping, spinning, diving on the grass, barefoot

Makes 51 successful dodges in a row — a new personal record

He yells to himself:

“Pukas would be proud of me!”

Then he grabs his favorite red balloon, puts on his oversized school shorts, carries his school bag in one hand, balloon in the other... and sets off to school.

🏫 Scene 2 – School of Lagos, Later That Morning

Zino walks through the school gate holding his floating red balloon by a string. Kids whisper:

“Ah, this balloon boy don come again…”

“Na madness be this, or genius?”

“But last match sweet sha…”

Zino goes to the field during break, stands on the same wooden bench and yells:

“11 vs 11 match today! 20 Kobo entry. Let’s GO! Winner gets 220 Kobo!”

22 students sign up. He writes names fast, divides them into two squads.

Kickoff:

No forklift still — this time Zino climbs halfway up a mango tree. He yells:

“Get readyyyyyyy... 3... 2... 1!”

He drops the helium balloon, and it floats gently down.

Dayo (Team A) and Segun (Team B) both sprint and collide mid-air!

Balloon floats free — Rasaq (Team A) collects it and begins the match.

🕹️ FIRST HALF

1' — Rasaq sprints, crosses to Peace, shoots... just misses

2' — Gboyega tries to slide tackle — bursts the balloon! YELLOW CARD!

Zino (shouting):

“The boy don burst the balloon like pepper soup!”

Bashiru:

“Na who invite this bulldozer?!”

4' — New balloon. Sandra dribbles 3 people, floats it to Emeka — header attempt fails

6' — Tunde trips Janet — referee (Zino) blows imaginary whistle

8' — Dayo gets a long pass, bounces the balloon once, twice... then toe-pokes...

💥 GOAL for Sky Legends!

Score: 1 – 0

⏱️ SECOND HALF

Kickoff — balloon gently floated again. This time, Musa (defender for Balloon Fire) taps to Gboyega.

11' — Gboyega goes solo — stepovers, body feint, shoots!

But… BOOM! The balloon bursts on impact.

Zino pauses… looks at the crowd… then smiles:

“That one too powerful. Sorry, my guy. Yellow card!”

15' — New balloon. Sandra and Janet combine with passes, trick Dayo

Janet floats it high… Segun runs in…

GOAL for Balloon Fire!

Score: 1 – 1

Crowd goes wild. Even teachers watching from the block are peeking now 👀

🔥 FINAL MINUTE DRAMA

19' — Final balloon in play.

Peace (Sky Legends) passes to Tunde. Tunde juggles it on his head three times then flicks it up.

Dayo bicycle kicks — balloon flying toward goal — but keeper Mide jumps and hits it with his face 😂

Everyone laughs. The balloon doesn’t burst.

Time’s almost up!

Sandra makes a run... Musa joins the attack...

Last second shot by Sandra...

💥 BURSTS the balloon at the edge of the box! 😱

Zino screams:

“WAIT O! FINAL BURST!”

He blows his imaginary whistle — match ends.

🏆 FINAL SCORE:

Sky Legends 1 – 1 Balloon Fire

Zino decides:

“No extra time. Let’s share the prize – 110 Kobo each!”

All players cheer.

The school bell rings.

Zino smiles, lifts the last balloon up to the sky and says:

“Next time, we’ll have nets. Real ones.”

Bashiru:

“Abeg, let’s eat. I no come to run marathon.”
