Ch-4
The golden shield had disappeared the moment the threat was gone.
Jimin clutched his chest, shivering. Yoongi wrapped a blanket around him without a word.
Park Jimin
What was that? *finally whispered*
Min Yoongi
A miracle *muttered*
Yoongi didn’t show it, but something in his core had shifted too. When he’d rushed the infected earlier, he remembered the air turning cold. Frost lingered where his hand had been.
They didn’t talk about it.
They couldn’t afford to.
They packed up quietly and moved at dawn. Survival first. Answers later.
He hadn’t stopped running.
Whatever had happened in the forest gave him strength—but also fear. He wasn’t supposed to be able to do that.
He reached the city’s edge. Fires burned in the distance, casting the streets in an eerie red glow. He ducked into a convenience store to rest and found a family hiding in the back.
A child screamed when she saw him, but Jungkook held up his hands.
Jeon Jungkook
I’m not infected
He gave them food from the shelves, then helped barricade the door. Just as he turned to leave—
A hand grabbed his wrist.
The little girl looked up at him.
...
Are you... a superhero?
Jeon Jungkook
*heart clenched* Not even close.
They scavenged in silence.
Jin had found a map and circled safe zones based on a radio message they barely caught the night before. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
Namjoon stood near a vending machine, trying to pry it open when his hand brushed the metal—and the machine snapped off the wall.
Sparks flew.
Kim Seokjin
That’s the third thing you’ve broken today *muttered*
Kim Namjoon
*stared at his hands* I think... I control magnetism.
Kim Seokjin
Of course you do *said with a sigh* I can barely make mist.
But then again, Jin’s mist had saved them from a patrol of infected earlier. It had made them invisible for a full minute—enough to slip into a hiding tunnel.
They didn’t need answers. They needed distance.
And they needed to survive.
They traveled in a group now—five survivors who refused to leave their side.
Eunwoo found himself shouldering a new kind of burden. When the injured reached out for healing, he offered his hand. When someone panicked, he soothed their mind.
Hoseok walked ahead, the first to fight and the last to sleep. His steps left burn marks on the floor, but he smiled like everything was fine.
One night, under the flickering lights of an abandoned school, Hoseok finally spoke up.
Jung Hoseok
You feel it, too, right?
Cha Eunwoo
Yeah *said quietly* Something’s coming.
He sat under the stars, eyes half-closed.
The infected he’d stored in his space dimension was still frozen—somewhere. That place... it didn’t follow normal rules. It was silent. Infinite.
And his control over it was growing.
He’d started storing supplies there. Weapons. Bandages. Anything useful.
He hadn’t seen another living soul in three days.
But he felt them. Somewhere out there.
People like him.
Different.
Scared.
Surviving.
His hand brushed the trigger of his crossbow, and for a moment, his eyes shimmered violet.
Kim Taehyung
I’ll find them *he whispered* Even if I don’t know who they are yet.
Unknown Region – Miles Away]
Deep underground, in a forgotten ruin…
A voice hummed like wind through a hollow shell.
“The lights have begun to flicker.”
“The children of dawn... are waking.”
A pale hand gripped a cracked mirror.
And smiled.
