Emma’s heart pounded as she clutched the ancient artifact, her fingers brushing over its intricate carvings. The museum curator’s voice still echoed in her mind: “This artifact is said to bridge the gap between worlds.” She had laughed it off then, but now...
The room began to spin, and the surrounding air crackled with energy. A bright light engulfed her, and before she could scream, the world tilted, and she was falling—falling into nothingness.
When she opened her eyes, she was no longer in the museum. The sky above her was darker than night, streaked with unfamiliar stars, and the air felt alive, thick with a strange, humming energy. She stumbled to her feet, her shoes crunching on soil that glowed faintly beneath her.
Emma
This... this isn’t home. What happened? Am I... in the past? Or is this even Earth?🤔
Before she could gather her thoughts, a deep, guttural growl echoed through the forest. Turning slowly, Emma froze.
Emerging from the shadows was a figure unlike anything she had ever seen—a man, but not quite. His towering frame radiated strength, his eyes glowed a fierce amber, and sharp, wolf-like ears twitched atop his head.
Kain
“You’re not from here.?”
His voice was a low rumble, both threatening and curious. He sniffed the air, stepping closer, his sharp claws gleaming in the dim light.
Kain
You don’t smell like us. You’re… human.
Emma
Where am I? Who are you? What is this place?
Her voice quivered, but she tried to stand tall.
Kain
You’ve crossed into our world. How? I don’t know. But it doesn’t matter. You’re here now, and in this world, you’re mine.
Before Emma could respond, Kain reached out, his clawed fingers brushing her cheek. The sensation sent a jolt of electricity through her, and she jerked back, but his grip was unyielding.
Emma
Yours? What are you even talking about? Let me go!
He growled, leaning in close, his breath warm against her ear.
Kain
In this world, females are precious—especially someone as rare as you. You won’t survive here without me. And I won’t let anyone take you.
Emma’s mind raced. The artifact must have transported her here, to a world that seemed ancient yet otherworldly. But how would she survive in a place where beast-like creatures roamed—and where one now claimed her as his?
