Episode 1

My name is Jacob Jones, I am 35 years old, I am British. I left the consolidated security company I had in Manchester after breaking off my engagement with Julie. You may ask why?

Because I was an idiot, I trusted her, I gave her my heart and almost 3 years of my life, and she still cheated on me with my cousin and to top it all off, in the house I had bought to start our family. I left everything and came to the United States, specifically Chicago. My older brother Issac lives here, it's just him and me. Our parents died in an accident a long time ago and our grandparents raised us. Issac never agreed with my relationship with Julie, we had several disagreements because of her, that was the reason he came to live in Chicago, he didn't want to continue in conflict with me. After breaking off my engagement, I decided to leave everything and come with my brother, my best friend Luke followed me. I decided to dedicate myself to a completely different field, so I leaned towards forming a company dedicated to developing software and offering technological services, becoming one of the most important companies in Chicago. We've been doing quite well.

I forgot about wanting to start a family. I tried to have a stable relationship here with Susan, but she is too materialistic, selfish, and arrogant, so I decided to end the relationship.

My brother is an excellent lawyer, he has his firm in downtown Chicago, his wife Emilia and his daughter Carolina are his greatest treasure. I adore my niece, only she is a very rebellious girl, she says what she thinks without flinching at anyone and that has caused her several problems. She studied law and to do her internship she asked me to do it in my company so they wouldn't say that her dad favors her, I agreed. After graduating, she decided to stay in the firm with her dad for 2 years, practicing. She has few friends, for that reason she doesn't go out much, but she disappears more in the season of the end and beginning of the year since according to what she explained to me, it is when she goes out the most with one of her friends, I don't know the reason.

I am on my computer. I decided to come early to get ahead with the software that we will launch in a few days, I don't want errors. It's almost 10 when I hear a knock on the door

Luke - Good morning JJ

Luke - The part of the program that corresponds to me is finished, it only remains to add it to the one you are finishing and it is ready

Jacob - Good I'm about to finish, tell Glenda to have the folders ready for the meeting

I looked at the clock, she should have been here. I sighed heavily

Luke - You should change your secretary, I had already told you that she is not doing her job efficiently

I sighed

Jacob - I've changed my secretary 3 times Luke in less than 2 months

Luke - I also told you to prevent Susan from interviewing the applicants for the position, delegate the responsibility to Zulema, she is more focused, that Susan wants to be your assistant and well, more than that

Jacob - I'm not interested in having anything with Susan, it didn't work and I don't want her as a secretary

Luke - I know, let me call your secretary to see what excuse she makes up now

He started dialing

Jacob - Put it on speaker

He nodded, after almost 5 rings she answered and by her voice she was in the fifth dream

Luke - Miss Garcia, good morning, I would like to know what time I can find you at your workplace

Jacob - Have you looked at the clock, Miss? It's 10

- Mr. Jones?

Jacob - If you are not here in 30 minutes, don't bother coming up to the floor, go straight to human resources

He stood up and left, I continued working after breathing several times a few minutes later the door opened, I looked up, it was Susan

I stood up, left with the laptop and arrived at the meeting room. We presented the program which had good performance, they gave us some recommendations to improve it and we agreed to meet next week to present it to the public. When leaving, Zulema was waiting outside the office

I nodded and entered the office followed by Luke and Zulema

Jacob - Now tell me

Zulema - You already know what happened, right?

Jacob - I have an idea

I sighed

Luke - Put the vacancy Zulema

Zulema - Do you want some advice?

I nodded

Zulema - I will put 2 free vacancies, one of secretary and another of assistant, so if one fails, there is the other that will get the job done while the vacancy is covered

Before answering, we heard a knock on the door

My niece entered

Carolina - Helloooo uncle, oops, I hope I'm not interrupting anything

Carolina - Hello Luke, Zulema, good morning

Zulema - Good morning Caro

I showed the screen of my cell phone to Caro and before she said anything I raised my hand and answered putting it on speaker

Issac - Hello Jacob, tell me something, is Caro there??

I saw Caro putting her hands together begging me not to betray her

Jacob - Why? What did she do?

Issac - Aah you know her quite well, she just threw the chocolate smoothie she had in her face at Karen, my secretary

I saw Luke and Zulema smiling

Jacob - Why?

Issac - You tell me? God, this girl will give me gray hairs if she gets there, I want her back Jacob, she will have to apologize to Karen and....
